I am trying to print a color photo on my MacBook Pro from iPhoto (not using Photoshop) using Epson 2200 printer, and everything I do in the Color Matching and Print Settings results in a photo with a pink cast to it. What am I doing wrong?
Have you checked the ink cartridges and made sure the nozzles are clear? Are you able to print from outside of iPhoto with the correct color?
Try the following: make temporary copy of the library and do the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

I can send photos TO my MacBook Pro from my iPhone 5S using AirDrop but not vice versa.
I am using OS X Yosemite 10.10 on my MacBook Pro, which has AirDrop enabled and is available in Finder and I am using iOS 8.1 on my iPhone 5S. I can send photos to my MacBook Pro using AirDrop from my iPhone but I cannot send photos to my iPhone from my MacBook Pro using AirDrop. I have to email the photos to myself via email. Is there anyone else having a problem with this or does anyone have any advice on how to fix this problem? When dragging a photo to my listed iPhone in AirDrop on my MacBook Pro I simply get an error notification, which is very frustrating. Thank you for your time.
Sorry, please disregard this. My roommate rebooted the router while I had stepped outside and now it's all running again.
At least this will be a possible option for anyone else that has this problem -
I'm trying to update my iPad to ios5, as I want Sky Go on it to watch the cricket, so I've gone thru Settings, General, but there is no update available...what am I doing wrong? Or is this iPad not able to get updates? Thanks
You only have the option if you are already running iOS 5. If you are trying to update the iOS, you have to use iTunes on a computer to update the iPad.
There are some important things that you should know before you update.

The updating instructions are in this article. Make sure you read the part about using iTunes.

My IPAD software update is avail for the iOS 7.0.3 I keep trying to install it. I have my IPAD hooked up to my MAC and the Wi FI, I have internet open It keeps telling me not connected to internet. What am I doing wrong.
You can try resetting your iPad by simultaneously pressing and holding the Home and Sleep/Wake buttons until you see the Apple Logo. This can take up to 15 seconds so be patient and don't release the buttons until the logo appears.
Try again to see if the problem persists. -
Performance with entity bean... What am i doing wrong??
hello,
My configuration:
Development = OC4J 10g 9.0.4.0.0 standalone
Production = Oracle IAS 10g 9.0.4
JBoss version = 4.0.3 SP1
I have an application using CMP Entity beans. My architecture uses Stateless session bean to access to the entities and values objects to transfer the data.
One of this entity beans has the following parameters:
id : NUMBER(20)
name : VARCHAR(255)
data : BLOB
2 values objects are used to access the entity bean:
MyLightValueObject with parameters: id and name
MyValueObject with parameters: id, name and data
The method findAll of my stateless session bean takes about 255 ms when there are 50 objects in the database under JBoss, but takes more than 10 seconds when deployed on OC4J.
<pre>
public java.util.Collection findAll() throws javax.ejb.FinderException,
javax.naming.NamingException {
// This statement takes about 200 millisonds on either server.
java.util.Collection selected = getLocalHome().findAll();
// The access to light value object took 10 seconds under OC4J !
ArrayList retval = new ArrayList(selected.size());
for (Iterator i = selected.iterator(); i.hasNext();) {
retval.add(((ClauseLocal) i.next()).getClauseLightValue());
return retval;
</pre>
I tried the following link already :
http://download-west.oracle.com/docs/cd/B10464_02/core.904/b10379/optj2ee.htm#sthref529
However, when I redeploy my ear on the server, whatever the options specified on the entity-deployement tag, the server reset his default options. Moreover, the locking_mode attribute is not specified in the DTD.
Could you please help me.... Thanks for your comprehension.To install Firefox from the Android Market web site, you must be logged in to the web site and your phone using the same Google account. If that doesn't work, you can follow the instructions here for other ways to install Firefox for Android: https://wiki.mozilla.org/Mobile/Platforms/Android

I have not been able to get elements 13 to open after I have installed it on my MAC. I click on the tab for photo editor and get a message saying "Photoshop Elements 13 Editor quit unexpectedly" . I checked the minimum system standards and my system meets or exceeds all of those.
Can you launch directly from Finder? Go to:
Applications >> Adobe Photoshop Elements 13 >> Support Files >> Photoshop Elements 13 Editor
Double click on the Editor app or highlight Photoshop Elements 13 Editor and control-click and choose open. -
The first time I synced with the ipad I did go through "restore" from iTunes. The other options on the screen were "restore from iCloud" and "new ipad".
How do I do a restore now? With the ipad attached? Everytime I connect and disconnect the ipad to the cable, even with reboot, it takes me back to the same grey iPad configuration screen. Do I need to do a hard reset? -

I just tried for the first time to convert a pdf to Word. Result was total gibberish, a bunch of meaningless symbols. What am I doing wrong?
You've done nothing wrong. The issue is how the internals (not what you "see") were painted to the PDF page (yes, PDF page content is "painted").
Export of PDF page content is very much a GIGO process.
Goodstuff In = Goodstuff Out
or
Garbage In = Garbage Out
Looks like you have the latter.
Anway - Provided one has a well-formed Tagged PDF (see 14.8 of ISO 32000-1) export is typically rather pleasing.
Tagged PDF has two core design criteria - support Accessible PDF and support repurpose (aks export / save as other) of PDF.
For that well-formed PDF you want an ISO 14289-1 (PDF/UA-1) compliant PDF.
Best is to output the well-formed Tagged PDF from an appropriate authoring application that has robust tag management.
But that's the job of the content author rather than you.
About all you can do is to communicate to the PDF provider that they are delivering flawed "goods".

Problems printing to printers connected to a MAC pro from a Windows Laptop
Folks,
I got a MAC PRO a couple of weeks ago and I have two USB printers (an EPSON CX 4200 and a CANON S900 connected to it).
I tried both Ifelix's procedures to add the printers connected to the MAC and I had problems with both procedures.
If I try the http://mac-ip:631/printers/printer-name I am successful in adding the printer to the Laptop running windows XP however when I try to send something to that printer the job goes straight to the "completed" queue on the MAC and nothing prints at all. I used the respective windows drivers for each printer on the XP Laptop.
I spent two hours with Apple support on the phone and they could not figure out what was going on and suggested that I post my issue to this forum to see if anybody has any ideas.
I also tried to configure the printers using Bonjour (as per Ifelix's documented method) but at some point during the printer setup I get an error message indicating that I do not have "sufficient access" to install the printer driver even though I am logged in as admin on the windows XP computer.
Has abybody experienced similar pain? Is anybody here being able to print to printers connected to a MAC PRO from a Windows XP laptop?
I should also say that my computers are in a network and both are connected to a Linksys Wireless Access point/router.
The Laptop is a wireless laptop and the mac pro is conneced to the linksys router via a regular network cable.
Also, I have no issues printing straight from the mac to both printers.
Would appreciate any suggestions/comments.
Thanks in advance for your time.
regards,
marceloWhat risks does that imply?
Well, it implies that the battery is not user serviceable, which it is not. However, your warranty has already been effectively voided by the spill. So, you don't have that much to lose. As I already said though, there are risks inherent in cleaning any electronic equipment with any sort of liquid. The safer route is definitely to take the machine in for repair, as eww says.
And for the Q-tips, when I opened the machine, it seemed really complicated to unmount or access parts with Q-tips.
Unfortunately, it is complicated. It's not something to undertake unless you are comfortable with it. And it can never be guaranteed that it will actually be clean because there are many spaces that you'll never be able to clean. I should perhaps emphasize that I would only clean the machine myself if there was no chance of being able to pay for repairs. It is sort of a last-ditch option to attempt to avoid the cost of repairs. Nothing is guaranteed though and you may have to pay for repairs anyway.
Wouldn't it be better to just let it bath in the distilled water, wait a few minutes and then let it dry?
Definitely not. If you do that you can forget about the machine ever working again, at all.
do you think there is hope that once cleaned, everything would work again ?
It is doubtful. Like I said, if paying for repairs are not an option, then you should consider at least attempting to clean it. Otherwise, you should have the top case replaced (new keyboard and trackpad).

I am trying to pull up an old email that I received and placed in the trash. When I press "load more messages," no additional trash eMails pop up. What am I doing wrong?
You're not looking in your trash can. And if you've emptied your trash can, the message is gone.
To open your trash, you have inboxes on the top, and accounts below. Tap the mail from the accounts. That's where your trash can is. Tap it. If the mail is not permanently deleted it will be in the trash. -
Help, i am trying to print my JPEG file that i created in photoshop at a photo lab but it is coming out like an X-ray. I have printed these files before so i have no idea what i am doing wrong.
Could it be something i have done in my settings?
or when i am saving the file to JPEG?Basically you're approaching this the wrong way around. What you need is the extreme sections to be quieter, not louder. The problem with moving the lower end of the audio is that you'll move the noise floor too, and get what's generally referred to as a 'pumping' effect. So what you do is to use a compressor to tame the peaks, and leave the lower level sound alone. When you've done that, you amplify (or normalize to a level you can determine) the whole signal. So the noise floor will be higher, but constant and not pumping. 'Match Volume' is a completely different tool for setting the overall levels of different tracks so that they sound approximately the same - it doesn't even begin to do what you want.
If it's music you are treating, then I'd almost certainly use the multiband compressor, because you get less artefacts with this. You need to experiment with the threshold levels, and almost certainly not use a massive compression ratio - 3:1 or 4:1 should be sufficient (although it's hard to tell without actually hearing the audio). You can tell what it's doing at any given point because the downward meter indicates how hard it's working. In theory you can apply make-up gain with it as well, but personally I leave that until everything's treated and use the 'Normalize' tool to set an absolute max level. -
