I am trying to set up my college email on my phone, but it says it can't verify my account. I have tried just about every server name possible and I don't know what to do. Help?

My MacBook Pro installing Lion hasn't budged in over an hour and I'd say that's much longer than roughly a minute so I'm starting to become concerned. Any ideas as to what I should do?

I have now gone to work and have come back home and it's still stalling. Is it time to hit the power button yet?
Sounds like it is at that point...since you got so far it is not clear just will happen when you restart, so you might want to be prepared to go to the Recovery HD if there are problems starting up...restart holding the Command and R keys if it will not startup on the normal hard drive.
Post what happens when you hit the button and restart. -
how can i improve the battery life of my iphone 5s, it drains to fast and i don't know what to do?
http://www.apple.com/batteries/iphone.html
Take a look at this to make sure your settings are optimized to the best it can be.
If all else fails, try and restore through iTunes, set up as a new iPhone and manually sync your apps and media back to your iPhone.
If still persists after this, you might call Applecare and see if they can run a battery diagnogstics.. -
I have a unwrapped copy of Mac OSX Tiger and i don't know what to do with it
Hey everyone,
So i don't have a Macpowerbook and i have a copy of mac osx tiger. It was originally my mom's dad's. How ever he has passed away and my mom's mom wants us to sell the osx tiger. What should i do?If it is a grey colored disc then it is machine specific and only useful to somebody who has the machine model for which it was made. If it is black then it is a retail install disc.
2 years ago you could have sold a retail disc at a premium price. Now I am not so sure. Tiger is now 4th generation behind Lion, Snow Leopard and Leopard. Apple stopped supporting Tiger years ago and fewer and fewer other software packages are being issued that still run on Tiger. Firefox stopped supporting Tiger, Flash (used on just about every web site out there) is no longer being updated, etc. I think the writing is on the wall. One of my favorite web sites that uses Flash stopped working for me yesterday.
A machine specific disc is really handy for somebody who has that machine and completely useless to anybody who doesn't.
The best thing to do is go on e-bay and see what is actually being paid (not asked) for Tiger, remembering to make sure it matches the copy you have. If you do decide to sell it, make sure you tell the purchaser exactly which model disc it is. We've seen many people on here who bought a disc only to find it wouldn't install on their computer. -
When I click on "Show All History," the normal window appears. However, there's nothing there and the only thing in the sidebar on the left is "Bookmarks." I looked under my preferences and saw that I had custom history settings set, and though I couldn't find anything that made sense as to why my history isn't showing it up, I changed it back to the generic "Remember history." However it's still not showing any of my history. I'm confused.
A possible cause is a problem with the file places.sqlite that stores the bookmarks and the history.

I have the last version of the Firefox, and about two days ago and i can't see any type of video because the firefox crash quickly
The culprit is surely Ask toolbar you installed via another application. First, disable and uninstall the "Ask toolbar" in the plugins section of Firefox. Secondly, close Firefox and open the Add/Delete Programs in Windows. There, uninstall the "Ask toolbar" and the "Ask updater".

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to activate PhotoshopCS that I am trying to install on a my new computer?
I now have downloaded the .exe file. I now have it and my old copy of Photoshop in my programs. I am assuming I should uninstall the old copy? I thought I was just downloading an update to the old copy but I now have a new icon with a green/blue feather icon. The oldcopy has the rainbowed feather icon. Do you agree that I should uninstall the old copy? Thanks, morganne

i see that people are discussing about "syncing"...
do i need to sync my ipod frequently?
what does sync do?
is it essential and important for me to maintain my ipod
in a good condition? This is the *Mac OS X Technologies > iSync* forum, which has absolutely nothing to do with syncing iPods or Windows XP.
Try one of the Windows iPod/ iTunes forums, or even reading the iPod manual:

I just wanted to update firefox and it won't let me. I drag the icon into applications, then a window ask me if I want to replace older version. I click yes and the window mentioned above appears. I purchased this computer new, I'm the only owner. Why would I not give myself permission to do something on my own computer.
If you get an error message that you do not have sufficient permissions or have problems with updating then easiest is to download the full version and trash the currently installed version to do a clean install of the new version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the DMG file to the desktop
* Firefox 4.0.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all.html
* Firefox 3.6.x: http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
* Trash the current Firefox application to do a clean (re-)install
* Install the new version that you have downloaded

I am trying to set up a co-worker's email on her iPhone and I don't know what her password for Thunderbird is and neither does she. Can I get the password somehow, or what do you recommend?
There is no password to Thunderbird. The password you need is to the email account. Contact the email provider for password reset.

I just want to know that if I buy an iphone 4S here in melbourne can i use it in china?
i don`t know whether it`s locked or not and i don`t know what`s the network in china as well.
Can somebody please help?
I am really in a hurry to know it.
Thanks a lot.
P.S: For the iphone 4S. is there any difference for the one from online shop or the actual store?iPhones purchased from the online Apple Store in Australia will be unlocked. To the best of my knowledge, unlocked iPhone are not available from the physical Apple Stores at this time, though you can call the Apple Store in Melbourne and inquire.
Note that the warranty on iPhones is not international, so if you purchase an iPhone in Australia and it needs service, you would have to ship the iPhone to someone in Australia to take or send to Apple for service and then ship it back to you.
Regards.
(Note for any readers: this is an old thread and I posted before noticing the date, but decided to leave my reply in case anyone else finds the thread and has the same question). -

hello everyone...I got my very first macbook pro just today and i have a problem deleting the "test" user account. if i can't delete it, the system won't let me turn off the system. I don't know what to do! HELP!!!!
Have you created another admin user? Go to system preferences click users and click the + to add a user; if you haven't already. Once you have another admin user other then the "test" user make sure you're signed out of the test user account. Sign in with the alternate ADMIN USER that you just created or had created already and go back to SYSTEM PREFERENCES and click the same USERS icon near the bottom. Now select the TEST user and click the - sign. This should prompt you if your sure you want to delete the user account. And your done.
New User created and Test User deleted... I hope this helps. -
I need help, my MacBook Pro keeps restarting itself for the last two hours saying there's a problem. I can't get past the grey screen without it restarting and i don't know what to do...please help me
Reinstall Lion, Mountain Lion, or Mavericks
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and
after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears.
Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list. In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive. If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks: Select ReinstallLion/Mountain Lion, Mavericks from
the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is
three times faster than wireless.
