I am trying to update my IPad to ISO 1.8.2 and it is asking me for a passcode. Is that my Apple password?

I Am trying to update my IPad to ISO 8.1.2 and it is asking for a pass code.  Where do I get this pass code?  My apple password does not work.

It's the passcode you use to unlock your iPad.

Try a hard reset: hold the power and home buttons simultaneously until the Apple logo appears.

I'm trying to update my iPad to iOS 8.1.2 and it won't update?

Is it perhaps downloading the update?
Have you tried rebooting the iPad?  Hold down the home and power/sleep buttons for 10 to 15 seconds or until the Apple logo appears. This should reboot the iPad.  Then try the update again.
If all else fails, you can try to update through iTunes on a computer.

  • Hi Apple friends, my question is regarding, the last iOS 6.1 upgrade, why it include the LTE 4G to the iPad4 and iPad Mini with Telcel in Mexcio, and Why it was not for the iPhone 5?, when Apple will enable this feature LTE 4G on the Iphone5 to Telcel?

And Apple won't tell you. All they will tell you is what countries are supported for LTE right now. You can express your interest to Apple via their feedback pages, if you wish:
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html
but you will not receive a reply. It may be waiting on Telcel to approve. They may not feel that their LTE network is robust enough to handle that much load yet. But I'm just guessing. We'll just have to wait and see what develops.

My question is, how can I prevent this from happening again? My ipad is currently running on 4.3.3 software version.

    If using windows...
Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software and try again...

Hi I am trying to restore my iphone from the itunes back and  it is asking me for a password, I don't ever remember putting a password in. how do i get the password reset?

You can't get it reset; if you could there would be no point in having it. If you have an encrypted backup there are two ways this could have happened:
You checked "Encrypt Backup" in iTunes at some time in the past, either intentionally or by accident
You have a corporate MS Exchange account and your Exchange administrator installed a security profile on your phone that requires the phone'a contents to be encrypted. This, in turn, requires the backup to be encrypted for obvious reasons.
In either case you were prompted for a password the first time you backed up after whichever of these happened. So think about what you might have entered for a password at that time. Fortunately you get an unlimited number of tries. Other threads on this subject have shown that it is always a password known to the user, so it wasn't something made up by iTunes. Also, everyone who has figured it out has found it to be a different password type, so try your Apple ID password, your computer's login password, your WiFi password, your corporate domain password, etc. And try passwords that may have been changed since your first backup. As a last resort there is a professional password cracker available, but it isn't cheap - it's targeted at the law enforcement market - from Elcomsoft. There are also some scam password crackers available that don't actually work and possibly steal your information. It's likely that a developer of one or more of these will post a response with a link (possibly hidden) to their "product". So before clicking any links you might want to install the Web of Trust plugin that keeps track of scam sites and warns you. http://www.mywot.com.

  • I downloaded 5 to my itunes.  When I tried to update my iPad 2 it extracted the informaion and then when it tried to restore the iPad, I got an error message saying that my iPad malfunctioned, it went into recovery mode, and it would not restore.

When I downloaded (on PC) the new 5 it crashed my iPad 2. I worked for two days to get it to stop the malfuction, went to the apple store for four hours, iPad crashed again, got a new one, new iPad crashed when I tried to restore my back up.  Down loaded iTunes to an employees computer, I was able to restore iPad to factory settings but my itunes account is on my office computer and now I am afraid to plug it into my computer.  I did delete the back up as maybe that is currupt and making it crash???  Any body know about this?

This is Linda again.  The new iPad actually as not restored on my employees computer. I thought it was working.  Message said the device is in recovery mode and can not be restored.  I have been at the Apple store for a total of 6 hours and on the phone with support for at least 4 hours.  And now the replacement has crashed???  Has this happened to any one else?

  • HT203808 Updated my iPad to IOS 8.1.2 and now I am unable to access iCloud, iTunes, etc. with my password even though it works on my MacMini.  I changed the password thinking it would help, but to no avail.  Now what should I do to restore my iPad to acce

After updating my  iPad to IOS 8.1.2, I am unable to access the Cloud with my password, even though it worked on my Macmini.  I changed the password and it still does not work on the iPad.  What can I do to get iPad to recognize my Apple ID/password account?

I would be helpful to know what those "basic steps" you have already tried are, but lacking that information:
Settings app > iTunes & App Stores - sign out of your AppleID
Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps BEFORE doing the reset.
Sign back into your AppleID (same location as noted above)

  • HT1212 I updated my ipad to ios7 and now it asks me for a passcode, I never had a passcode on it so dont know what to do HELP

    Hi All
I upgraded my ipad to ios7 but now it is asking for a passcode. I never had a passcode on it before, now dont know what to do.
    HELP
    Gabrielle

I had to call Apple Support and they walked me through the restore procedure.
We first had to delete the old account from iCloud and then do a restore from iTunes.
Even with Apple Support's help, it took a few tries.
We had skipped the adding a passcode during the ios7 update.
The helpdesk said we must have inadvertently, but I know that we did not:
i.e. we just pushed a "Don't add a passcode" button (I don't remember the exact text)
on the touchscreen and nothing else.
We had to restore from a few month old iTunes backup -
The lady at the Apple Support call desk was very nice and helpful,

  • I am trying to reset my phone and it is asking me for my passcode

Hi my phone is disabled locked out as I put in the incorrect pin too many times. I am trying to reset it using recovery mode and following all the instructions and after a while it says please put in your passcode to continue!! How can I put in my passcode when I dont know it?? I am doing the recovery mode for that reason and trying to reset my whole phone
Please help am desperate for my phone to work! What do I do??

Follow these steps - Forgot passcode for your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, or your device is disabled - Apple Support  You need to erase and restore the phone.  You do not necessarily need to force recovery mode to do this.  If it is asking for a passcode, then you are not actually getting to recovery mode, otherwise you would have been taken immediately to the "connect to iTunes" screen.

  • Tried to update my iPad  OS from iTunes. Frozen and got an "unknown error msg". I tried to restore the iPad to factory settings..got the same

I bought today a new iPad from Rideau Store. The setup guys didn't update to latest software version. I tried to do myself trough iTunes, which notify me that an upgrade is available. After a while the upgrading process froze with a msg "unknown error ..". I clicked on the More  info  button and I got a page saying "due to a scheduled upgrade of Apple's support system some feature are not available.
The bottom line is that now the iTunes does detect the iPad being in recovering mode and asks to restore it to fabrics defaults. I tried to do this and again I got aqn "unknown error"
Finally I run the iTunes diagnostics to check the connectivity between my iPad and my HP laptop (iTunes). For unknown reson the iTunes does not detect my iPad. See below the diagnostics log:

  • I have been trying to update my ipad 2 to IOS 7 today and it installs it into my ipad but when i click install update it says its verifying it then it pops up saying software update unavailable try again later can i have some help.

And i need help so If theres anyone out there that could give me a little info and help on how to fix it, please do

Um, this makes no sense.  The binary is already on the device, it came directly from Apple so I'm not sure where the hold up is.  I guess it depends on what is exactly "Verifying update ..." is.  I always believed it was about checking to ensure the binary was proper; not sure why it has to call back to Apple servers in that case.
It's super annoying.  Apple really needs to fix this problem.  Especially when one has to leave and needs to take their devices with them...
Last time this happened, all I had to do was connect to iTunes and the issue cleared out immediately and updated.
