I am unable to listen to my music.

I cant play the majority of my songs on my ipad that have the same icloud as the iphone i bought them on. I used to be able to, now i cant. How do i fix this?

Hey Jennymagee,
Thanks for the question. I understand you are experiencing issues with your iPhone 4s. The following resource may provide a solution:
iPhone: No sound or distorted sound from speaker
http://support.apple.com/kb/ts5180
1. Verify that the volume is set to a level you would normally be able to hear.
2. Ensure that there is nothing plugged in to the headset jack or the dock connector.
3. If the iPhone is in a protective case, make sure that the speaker port isn't blocked by the case.
4. Make sure that the speaker and dock port aren't clogged with debris. If necessary, clean it with a clean, small, dry, soft-bristled brush. Carefully and gently brush away any debris.
5. If an audio issue occurs when using a specific application, try testing other applications to see if the issue persists.
6. If the iPhone is paired with a Bluetooth headset or car kit:
          - Try turning off Bluetooth.
          - If you experience difficulties with the Bluetooth feature, follow these troubleshooting steps.
7. Restart the iPhone.
8. If restarting doesn't fix the issue, ensure that your iPhone is updated to the latest version of iOS.
9. If the issue is not resolved after restoring the iPhone software, please contact Apple Support.
If the issue persists, please follow the last step by contacting Apple Support for support and service options.
Thanks,
Matt M.

  • Unable to listen to bought music!!

We updated to itunes 7 then sucessfully managed to re install itune 6 and get our tunes back, but now we cant listen to the bought music or listen to tunes when in the music store - it comes up with sucessfull authorisation after typing password then immediatly comes up with 'unknown error (-208)'. We can buy tunes from the music store but they then wont update on the ipods!
Hopefully someone may be able to help us..please???!!!

Apple knows that unless they fix this problem, and I have it too, that we won't be purchasing any more music from them. I'm sure that PC users comprise a greater share of their customers than Mac users. I won't buy another song until they fix the problems. Hopefully you backed up your songs onto another drive. If they are on an IPOD is suggest you don't connect it to the new version until they get it debugged.

  • Unable to listen to purchased music

I recently bought the 2nd gen iPod Touch and bought an album at the Apple Store(last week)... Everything went ok till today... I am not able to listen to the purchased music anymore, the only ones working are those I copied from my computer... Need help and fast cause I spent 10 bucks on those songs!!

If you are running a version of iTunes older than iTunes 6.0.4, the first thing to do is update to 6.0.4. Choose About iTunes from the Help menu in iTunes. If you are already at 6.0.4, or if updating does not help, the next thing to try is to deauthorize your computer for the iTMS account using the Deauthorize Computer option in the Help menu. Then play of the iTMS songs and re-enter your authorization info.

  • I have been having problems with my speaker. After the recent update I am unable to listen to movies or music using my speaker. The volume bar is completely missing. If I plug a headset into the port, the volume bar reappears.

I have been having problems with my speaker. After the recent update I am unable to listen to movies, music or apps using my speaker. The volume bar is completely missing. If I plug a headset into the port, the volume bar reappears and then disappears after the headset is removed. This is quite annoying. My child's Apps that he likes to play will not even make a sound. HELP!!!

Do a reset (Hold Sleep/Wake and Home buttons about 10 secs or more till Apple logo appears, ignore the Slide to Power Off that appears)
Note: You will not lose any data.

  • ITunes has exclamation marks next to all my songs. Unable to listen to my songs. What do I do?

I have a had my iPhone 4s for almost two years and ive never really had any problmes with it til now. Just randomly the other day i was listening to my music and all of sudden after one song finished, it skipped like 50+ songs and went to the first song in my playlist. I llooked at it and the songs that were skipped all had a faded stop button next to them. What do I do? All the sings that I am unable to listen to was music i transferred from my HTC Evo onto iTunes when i first got my 4S. The songs i am still able to listen to on my phone were songs purchased from the itunes store. I had over 700 songs and now i am only limited to 70 songs. Please help.

You should sync it again and this time you'll get 0 song. Yes, that's what will happen. Its quite amazing a company that famous for making music device like IPOD could mess up this bad. Not sure if its cause by IOS 7 or ITunes 11. Probably both

  • Unable to listen to iTunes

Recently computer changed drive letter assignments on external harddrive where iTunes and music is located. Now I am unable to listen to any music in iTunes. I changed the location in preferences and advanced settings under folder location. Still no help. So I tried to reinstall iTunes and it asks for folder destination. The last previous location was K:, now it is L:(don't know why it changed, no new hardware). It will not let me change folder destination to L: in setup . It states unable to find k: and then it goes to finish. Hopefully someone can help Thanks in advance!

If both your library datbase files and you music were on the external drive, you may be able to get round this by starting iTunes with the shift key held down. You should be invited to choose a library. Navigate to the iTunes folder on your extrenal drive and choose iTunes Library.itl.
Note this only works if iTunes Library.itl was on the extrenal drive.

Did you already reset the phone by holding the sleep and home button for about 10sec, until the Apple logo comes back again? You will not lose data by resetting, but it can cure some glitches.
If this does not help, try to set it up as new device, explained here:

iTunes is quite friendly, and very powerful....   You probably just need to set up automatic syncing in iTunes.
If the iTunes sidebar (along left side of window) is hidden, from the menu bar, under View, select Show Sidebar.  The iPod appears in the sidebar, under DEVICES.  Select the iPod there.
To the right, the iPod's Summary screen is shown.  Toward the top, there is a bar of buttons, starting with Summary.  Click on Music next to Summary.  This Music screen is where you tell iTunes how to sync songs to the iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This setting enables automatic syncing for music.  If your iTunes music library is small enough to fit on the iPod's storage, you can choose to sync Entire music library.  Otherwise, you can choose to sync Select playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  From the lists below, select (checkmark) what you want to sync to the iPod.
Here's one convenient way to set this up.  In your iTunes library, create one or more playlists.  Add the ALL the songs you want on the iPod to those playlists.  OR, you can use existing playlists.  Back on the iPod's Music screen, select those playlists under Playlists.  (You can select other items on those lists, if desired.)
When you click Apply, the songs in your selection sync to the iPod.  Going forward, to update your iPod (add/remove songs), just update those playlists in your iTunes library.  The iPod does not need to be connected.  The next time you connect the iPod (or click Sync if already connected), iTunes automatically updates the iPod with the same changes.
NOTE:  On the bar of buttons that starts with Summary, click on the other buttons (such as Movies, Podcasts, Audiobooks, etc.) to set up syncing for those iTunes media categories.

  • Unable to listen to music while iPod is connected to computer

Whenever I connect the iPod(5th Gen) to my computer it shows Do Not Disconnect message and am unable to listen to music. Also, if music is playing previously, it stops automatically. Can anyone help? Just been two days since I bought my iPod

Try this for your Do Not Disconnect issue:
Connect your iPod and in iTunes go to Preferences>iPod. Under the Music tab see if you have your iPod set to automatically sync with iTunes and also have a tick in the box marked “enable disk use". Remove this tick and your iPod should automatically disconnect after it’s finished updating.
If you have your iPod set to manual update, the box will be greyed out and ticked by default, in that case use Safely remove Hardware icon or check this link: "Disconnecting iPod from your computer
    " http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61135
Just another point to note, your iPod needs to be in manual mode to listen to it while connected to your PC. In automatic mode you will see the iPod library greyed out and inaccessible.

  • I cannot listen to my music, it keep saying PING unable to locate

whenever I try to listen to my music, it keep saying PING unable to locate

The 1.2.2 release requires iTunes 7.5 (Apple didn't tell you that part when you got the new firmware, did they?!) Install 7.5 and you'll be OK.

  • Listen To Online Music over Bluetooth?

    Just a question...
I have a Blackberry Curve 8330 (obviously), and I also have a pair of wireless Jaybird Bluetooth Headphones. I successfully got them to sync to my Blackberry and successfully am able to listen to music I put on my micro card. That all works great. However, if I try to listen to some online radio (such as Pandora, or and NFL Live feed) I am unable to hear it thru my BT Headphones. Another example would be not being able to listen to Youtube music over the headphones as well. Now is there some setting that I am just completly missing here to enable me to listen to online stuff over my BT? Like I said before it works with local songs on the device. HELP!
Blackberry 8330, Shoulda got the Tour

Not sure about from other programs, but check the following setting in Pandora. One you go into Pandora, go to the Stations List screen. In that screen, hit the menu button, choose Options. Set the "Bluetooth" option to enabled.

  • Can't listen to any music on my iPhone 5, when I press play it just skips to the next song, does that for a few seconds, then goes back to artist/album/song list. HELP!!

I just updated my iTunes on my laptop to the newest version. I connected my iPhone five to the laptop, and it asked me something about a restore. I wasn't thinking, confused "restore" with "sync" and I just hit yes.... I know, dumb. Anyways, I logged into iTunes on my laptop, downloaded all my purchased songs through the cloud, did a backup, then disconnected it. When I used my phone again, everything was different. All my backgrounds had changed, my apps were rearranged, I had old apps on my phone that I had previously deleted, etc., all signs pointing to me restoring my phone to a previous version.. None of that bothered me, I knew how to deal with it and just changed everything back to the way I had it before the restore, and everything was fine.
Until I went to listen to some music on my iPod. I made my album choice, selected a song, and instead if it playing, it was silence. I looked at my phone and it was skipping through the songs without ever playing a single sound. That bar that shows how far through the song you are? It never moved from zero, but my songs were skipping and skipping and skipping, almost like I was hitting the "skip track" button, only faster.
Should I re-restore my phone? Would that possibly fix it? I've checked, and my iOS and my iTunes and iPod version are all up to date.
PLEASE HELP ME!! I can't find this topic anywhere in support, and I NEEEEEED my music.

    Hello avenmaven,
Thank you for all the information you provided, and congratulations on your new laptop!
I do not think this has to do with setting up iCloud on your new computer.  You might not have the option to manually manage music checked on your devices.  This box would need to be checked if you are dragging content over to your iPhone or trying to delete by pressing the delete key:
You can find more information at the full article:
Managing content manually on iPhone, iPad, and iPod

I hope this gets you back on track! Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    Best,
    Sheila M.

What can I do? Thanks!
