I am using a C310A Printer from Photoshop CS5.5 to make 4 by 6 printsThe printer switches to 4 by 6

How do I get the C310A printer to default to 4 by 6 from the tray.  I have used the Photosmart D5460 in the past and it remembered to use 4 by 6 paper after the first print, the C310A changes to letter size on the second print

Do you have Windows 7?  Try the following with CS5.5 closed go to the Devices and Printers folder and set the printer preferences for the C310a for 4x6 photo media and the desired quality.  Save these settings, then open CS5.5 and try printing two photos.

  • Problem printing from Photoshop CS5.1 to Canon Pixma MX870

I downloaded most recent printer driver from Canon for my MX870 and with help from canon support I deleted previous printers in my computer and added in the new one.  Also repaired permissions.
Other adobe software will print (InDesign, Acrobat) but not photoshop. When I select print,  I am getting the following message:  "There was an error opening your printer. Printing functions will not be available until you have selected a printer and reopened any documents"   After attempting once I can't even get to the print dialogue box as the print selection is grayed out.
I am not sure what to do to get past this.
I have a new imac running OSX 10.9.2.

I was testing other Imacs running the same photoshop CS5.1 with the new printer drivers from canon and it prints.  They are running OSX10.6.8.  My new computer is running 10.9.2 and it will not print from photoshop. Is the driver not compatible with the operating system? Is there something to try other than saying the driver is at fault.  Do I complain to Canon to update their driver to work? What is a work around?

  • Printing from Photoshop CS5

Silly question.  When I tell Photoshop to print, it opens a preview of the photo in MAC OS Preview, with a print button on the bottom right.  If I print from here, am I printing my Photoshop image or has the MAC reformatted it as a PDF?

Let's see if we can get our terminology straight here, Philip.
Obviously, you're fairly new to the Mac world.  It's "Mac" for Macintosh, not "MAC" which is an acronym that can stand for various things, none of which have anything to do with Mac or Macintosh.
Are you sure what you call a Mac Preview window is not really just the Photoshop print dialog box?  In previous versions of Photoshop it used to be called the "Print with Preview" dialog box.  In Photoshop 11.0.d ("CS4") it looks like this:
You need to click on the Print button in the lower right-hand corner to get your printer driver print dialog box.
On the other hand, if you are not within Photoshop and are double-clicking on the image icon in the Finder, then it is indeed possible for you to inadvertently launch Apple's Preview application if you have not set Photoshop to be the default application to open Photoshop images.
If the latter is the case, you need to highlight the icon of the image file in the Finder, do a "Get info" (Command+i) in the Finder and set it to open with Photoshop in the ensuing File Info dialog box.  Then click on "Change All", and all your image files of the same file type will now open correctly in Photoshop.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

    Hi
I have a problem with color prints from photoshop elements 12. The pictures are too light and with strange colors. I have a Canon pixma mg615I0 printer and use mac os X yosemite. The pictures are taken with a coanon eos 550d in the color space sRGB. I have followed adobes recommendations and have tried both letting the printer respektive photoshop manage the colors. But nothing works. I see that there are different opinions about which is best to do so I tried both. I have the latest printer driver installed. Can anyone help me with this?

    Do the following:
Print a test page from the printer. Perhaps the print head needs cleaning via its maintenance facility.
Let the printer manage colors, not PSE
    Calibrate the monitor

  • Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3

Different Colors when printing from Photoshop and InDesign CS3
    I have the following problem:
When printing from Photoshop or InDesign to a PostScript printer, Adobe recommends to let Photoshop handle the colors (I use the German version, so I don't know the exact term used, it changes slightly in all CS3 apps anyway).
The manufacturer however told me to let the PostScript printer handle the colors.
When I chose this option in Ps's print dialog and then choose ISO Coated as the printer pfofile, the results are fine.
But when I place the exact same image in an InDesign file and print from InDesign or export to PDF and print via Acrobat, again using "Printer handles colors", the results are the exact same as if I had used Ps and chosen to let Ps handle the colors (way too saturated and a bit too red).
    ·Photoshop CS3
    ·InDesign CS3
·Test image is a TIFF in CMYK Fogra 27 Coated (which is also the working color space in Ps and ID.
    ·Printer: Xerox Docucolor 3535
    ·Printer profile: ISO Coated
How can I make sure the printer handles the colors in other CS3 apps than Ps? I tried it with ID's print dialog (translated from the German version: Color Management > Options > Color Handling: PostScript-printer decides colors).
    Thanks a lot!

RE: "You don't indicate what Xerox printers you have"
In my first post I named it, is that the information you need?
    Docucolor 3535 using Splash 3535
That's interesting, so I have to find a way to turn off the printer's Color Management function? I mailed them, hope they can tell me how to do it easily. They usually just tell me to not use any profiles and so on, but that's the general rule in this area, I'm really tired of hearing it. Everybody seems to think profiles and LAB mode are nuclear science and I should stay away from it.
Anyway, the test image I'm using is a simple photograph (size A3, 300dpi), so no transparencies at all. I'm placing this image into an equally large ID file and print it from ID, then export it to PDF-X/3 and print it from Acrobat. Hope that helps.

  • Can't print from Photoshop CC 2014

I very seldom need to print directly from Photoshop, but today I do. Today I discovered that I cannot print from Photoshop, because Photoshop stops working when I click 'Print'. I don't even get far enough to select a printer from the list. I get a Windows message in a little box -
"Adobe Photoshop CC 2014 has stopped working
A problem caused the program to stop working correctly.
Windows will close the program and notify you if a solution is available"
I can print from every other program on my PC, including InDesign, so it would seem that the problem is solely with Photoshop. I'm using Windows 7 64bit.
Any help or suggestions would be gratefully received.

  • Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer ejects 3.8 in of a 4X6 paper and prints only 2.2 in of the image printing from Photoshop CS6, I'm sure I set everything correctly - what could I be missing?

Using Mac Pro running Snow Leopard (10.6.8) & editing & printing from Photoshop CS 6.
Have new Canon Pixma Pro-100 printer and set it up yesterday.  First thing printed was a
document from MS Word (a letter) 8.5 X 11 plain paper - this came out OK.  Next I fire up
Photoshop and open a 4 X 6 inch image to do a test print.  I set it up in the print dialog as
4X6 paper, Canon's Pro Glossy paper profile, rear tray, standard print quality, Photoshop
manages the color.  I load the paper in the rear tray close the covers and hit print.  Now, when
it starts to print the printer moves about 3.8 inches of paper out of the printer and starts printing
on the remaining 2.2 inches then spits the paper out.  It does this in Photoshop (any image it doesn't
matter), and it does it printing from Capture NX.  I have been able to get it to print on the paper
correctly using Apple's Preview program but that that's not going to do me any good.  I was on
the phone with Canon tech support for about 2 hours and they were completely puzzled suggesting
I would have to use Canon's printing apps instead to print - that doesn't do me any good either.
I want to be able to print from Photoshop.  Any one every heard of this or experienced the same
    problem? Thanks JamesD!

Hello again. I recognize that a print is good if you like it and bad if you don't, despite what others might say, but I will at least share my experiences. They might help you or others who are following this thread.
My monitor is calibrated with Spyder 3. Gamma 2.2, 6500K, 83 cd/m^2. Contrast at 50%; brightness about 52%. My monitor lets me choose blackness level - it defaults to 50%.
When I print the test image I linked to above, using Lightroom, with no adjustments, my technical output is as follows:
Middle step wedge shows twelve disticnt steps. Whitest step is color of unprinted paper.
It varies from paper to paper, but I can discerne at least the 252 step and on some papers 253 - telling me I have good highlight detail.
On the black side I discerne 8 or 10, nothing lower. (That sounds like what you are reporting).
Artistically I am very happy how my print looks - nice red strawberries, good flesh tones, etc.
One my monitor, the on-screen image is almost identical to the print. I am surprised that you can see the 2 wedge step on screen at a very similar brightness.
I also checked out this B&W test image:
    http://www.northlight-images.co.uk/article_pages/bw_printing/bw-test-image-2.html
You are probably aware of this since you are printing with Print Studio Pro, but others may not be.
You can print a series of test images:
find the one that best suits your taste, enter the calibration values in PSP, and save them as a custom setting. Then, each time you want to print recall the setting.
You can do a similar thing in Lightroom using the printer driver and User Templates.
There would be some one-time trial and error to that approach.

The printer printed fine until about 2 weeks ago when this error message appeared.  Printing continues from Pages, I-photo, preview etc. —  only Photoshop fails.
The printer has been turned on and off, as have open documents been closed and open etc..   Preferences reset.  Repeatedly I have read through blogs and forums and attempted to contact Adobe — all without results
Epson support struggled to find reason and several solutions were tried and they assume this is an Adobe problem.

  • Problem Printing from Photoshop CS-5 (version 12.0) since installing Yosemite on iMac.

Any attempt to print from Photoshop CS-5 results in Photoshop crashing when I try to enter print settings such as paper profiles. I use several Macs and printers including an Epson Stylus Pro 4880 and a All-in-One Epson Workforce 7520. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Photoshop; uninstalled and reinstalled print drivers for both printers. I have the same printing problems with jpegs and raw files both large and small. I can print from the computers while using Yosemite if I print from other applications including InDesign CS-5.  I think I have tried all the suggestions that have been offered in this forum.
Fortunately I have a Macbook that I forgot to upgrade. It has OS 10.9 and CS-4 installed and once I installed the Epson drivers, it worked! So, I can meet my deadlines but still would like to work from my large desktop machines. After long sessions with a very helpful Epson technician and carefully going through the comments in this forum, I am convinced the problem is in Apple's new operating system.

Which reminds me, update 10.10.1 is out. Have you installed it?
Also sometimes this works: Resetting your Photoshop Preferences from the keyboard:
Hold down cmd-opt-shift and start Photoshop and agree to "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file"

  • Question about file preparation for print from Photoshop

I need to figure out the best method for saving for print from Photoshop. Here are the things that are confusing me:
Problem: When I create a design in Photoshop, I'm left with a few options on how to save my document. I would like to know which of the following is the best method:
Method 1: create a pdf and embed the required fonts. This method worries me because I've read that certain fonts will not open on the recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this something I should be concerned with or is embedding fonts the best route to take?
Method 2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website commented that having too much text converted to shapes can cause extremely long print times. Is this true?
Another problem I've encountered with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a single color. I would love to know a work around to this. Currently I have to create separate layers for the different text colors and try to manually align them...very time consuming. I know InDesign would be best for this type of thing, but Photoshop works just fine for me, asside from this one little thing).
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all) at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
Thank you to anyone who can help clear this up for me. I read so much inconsistant information online that I don't know what to think anymore.

Method 1: create a pdf and embed the required fonts. This method
worries me because I've read that certain fonts will not open on the
recipients end due to restrictions set by the font maker. Is this
something I should be concerned with or is embedding fonts the best
    route to take?
Always embed fonts, but then again, Photoshop can't until you save a format that can like PDF.  Some fonts do not allow you to do so. Outline the fonts or convert to shapes. Better yet, stop building text documents in Photoshop for print. It's generally a bad idea for many reasons like rejected jobs and lost money and time.
    Method
2: Convert all type to shapes. This method seems like the safest but
I've read problems associated with this route as well. One website
commented that having too much text converted to shapes can cause
extremely long print times. Is this true?
Problems arise if you want someone to edit the files, but the same goes for a font that is missing.  As far as the print slow down times - it depends upon the RIP and how complex the file is.  Maybe or maybe not be an issue.  After all, text in Photoshop is using a font as a vector shape layer and not a font in the traditional sense.
    Another problem I've encountered
with converting text to shapes is when I have a paragraph that has more
than one text color...converting to shapes converts everything to just a
single color. I would love to know a work around to this. Currently I

A paragraph?  Please attend a school that teaches you the basics of design in graphics. It will do you a great service to get more studies under your belt. Photoshop text is for graphical art not type setting.
Method 3: Flatten my entire design (text and all)
at 300dpi. Will my text look crisp flattening at this resolution?
It depends upon the resolution of the output device. The higher the resolution of the output the worse your text will be.

  • Problem Printing onto CDs from Photoshop CS5 - Canon MG6150 printer

I cannot find a solution to this problem anywhere!! I have a Canon Pixma MG6150 printer and have designed a CD/DVD label using Photoshop CS5. The proportions are all correct, when printed on paper from within Photoshop I can cut out the label and it fits my printable media perfectly.
The problem is printing directly onto the CD or DVD using the printer's CD print tray. I cannot get the alignement correct -- the label will only print halfway off the media or more, so only a small section of my label appears on the CD. I have tried various settings from within Photoshop's print options and none work.
How can I get my label design to print onto the DVD or CD? Any help is HUGELY appreciated.
