I am using a MacBook Pro and when I open a new tab in Firefox it opens to Trovi. Mozilla has a forum but solutions are all for the PC/Windows. How do I remove it?
I am using a OSX MacBook Pro running Mavericks version 10.9.4 and using Firefox 30.0. My Mac has recently been hijacked by a program called "Trovi". Whenever I open a blank new tab in Firefox the tab opens it opens with Trovi. The Mozilla forums offer support but all solutions are for users who run Windows. How do I remove Trovi from my Mac? Please help.

I aquired my used MacBook Pro when entering college three years ago. When the IOS 7 iphone update came out yesterday I updated my iphone. After the update I attempted to sync my iphone to itunes on my MacBook Pro. When attempting to do this I recieved a pop-up that stated I would not be able to sync my iphone with IOS 7 to itunes until I downloaded itunes version 11.
I then visited the itunes site to download this version of itunes. When attempting the update, I recived a pop-up that stated I was unable to download this version of itunes because my MacBook Pro does not have IOS 6 installed.
I am not sure how to install IOS 6 or if my computer is able to update to IOS 6 since it was made in 2007. I occasionally have difficulties updating other programs because my computer is outdated and I was wondering if IOS 6 is the same.
Thanks for your help.It sounds like it is not allowing you to install the newest version of iTunes because you do not have OSX 10.6.8 installed. Click on the -> About This Mac and check the version number. If it is anything less than 10.6 you need to purchase Snow Leopard from Apple.

My typing process block instantly when I fill the google search or when I writing an email and it warns me by the mac book pro bug sound. The only solution I found, is to select a zone outside of the writing area then select back the last letter I was typing.... This occur more often when I use deleted button (to correct a word writing) or when I want to move into the text writing.

Either use the Apple ID you used when you originally purchased the applications or you will have to purchase them using your Apple ID. If you did not have the other Apple ID, then you have the applications illegally or they were improperly included with a computer you purchased from someone else.

How you enable double-sided printing can depend on the applications from whick you wish to print. Example: if I print to my HP PhotoSmart from Safari, I get this print dialog box:
(Edit: OOPS! Note that I forgot to switch printers when i took the scene-shots, so ignore the "Brother" reference. It's should look the same for your HP.
Note the selection labled "Safari" near the bottom. If I change that form "safari to "Layout: I get this:
Note the option for two-sided printing appears for your selection. If I print from Word, the box is different:
The "Copies & Pages" option can be changed to "Layout" when you click it, again allowing the selection of two-sided printing.

Sure-glad to help you. You will not lose any data by changing synching to MacBook Pro from imac. You have set up Time Machine, right? that's how you'd do your backup, so I was told, and how I do my backup on my mac. You should be able to set a password for it. Save it. Your stuff should be saved there. So if you want to make your MacBook Pro your primary computer, I suppose, back up your stuff with Time machine, turn off Time machine on the iMac, turn it on on the new MacBook Pro, select the hard drive in your Time Capsule, enter your password, and do a backup from there. It might work, and it might take a while, but it should go. As for clogging the hard drive, I can't say. Depends how much stuff you have, and the hard drive's capacity. As for moving syncing from your iMac to your macbook pro, should be the same. Your phone uses iTunes to sync and so that data should be in the cloud. You can move your iTunes Library to your new Macbook pro
you should be able to sync your phone on your new MacBook Pro. Don't know if you can move the older backups yet-maybe try someone else, anyways,

time machine is an application, and should be found in the Applications folder. it is built in to OS X, so there is nothing else to buy. double click on it, get it going, choose the Hard drive in your Time capsule/Airport as your backup Time Machine and go for it. You should see a circle with an arrow on the top right hand of your screen (the Desktop), next to the bluetooth icon, and just after the wifi and eject key (looks sorta like a clock face). This will do automatic backups of your stuff. -

What is wrong with OSX on the MacBook Pro and when will it be fixed?
When running Second Life or Worlds of Warcraft or just quick browing... anything graphically intensive on the MacBook Pro, the machine slows to a crawl, eventually completely freezes up. The cursor doesn't move, pressing the Caps Lock key does not change the Caps Lock light and the machine is no longer reachable from any other machine on the network. The only means available to recover is to hold the power button down until the Mac powers off and then restart it. This doesn't happen when running XP through boot camp and windows client versions of these programs. What is wrong with OSX on the MacBook Pro and when will it be fixed? Thanks.
I am not sure that this relevant to the discussion. But I am searching for anyone else who is seeing random freezes on 10.4. I usually don't see anything in the log after I have to do a hard reboot of the box. However, I have noticed some I/O messages when I have been able to console into an affected device, but have not captured to this point. Also, when I am able to console, the box will accept the login, but times out when trying to authenticate the password.
I am also seeing a server freeze on my G4s. I am able to reproduce the problem with a clean install from the 10.4 disk. The issue is reproducible with tcpdump, dumpcap as well as tshark. I have also tried compiling the tools with different versions of libpcap. I am able to reproduce this problem every time with a packet generator sending small packets.
It seems that the small packets aggravate the underlying cause. As the more small packets are sent the quicker I am able to reproduce the problem. With a mix of packet sizes, as seen in most networks, this issue is hard to reproduce. We have been using the G4 since 2003 as a packet analysis tool and it has been very stable up until we attempted to do analysis of a VOIP network with 10.4. The small RTP packets in conjunction with 10.4 seem to be the culprit.
So far I am not able to reproduce the freeze on a 10.2 or 10.3 image. This is not isolated to bad hardware, as I have been able to reproduce on 4 different Xserves in my labs with similar configurations.
I currently have a G4 set up in my lab and would be able to supply any info that may be needed to track down this issue. I have been thrust into administration on this box recently so I am not very familiar with debugging procedures on the Xserve or MacOS. However, I have the hardware and the test equipment that many in a production setting may not have at their disposal. So if anyone, with extensive knowledge of the Xserve or MacOS, is willing to work with me to track down this issue I am willing to do the leg work in the lab. I would appreciate any assistance that is available. -
I have just acquired an iMac desktop (about 4 years old). I want to connect to my Apple airport wireless network, but cannot remember the password. You have Mac OS X Snow Leopard, so you are going to use Boot Camp 3 on Windows. After installing Windows 7 on your MacBook, insert the Snow Leopard DVD and install the Boot Camp drivers from here. Then, as the Boot Camp drivers that your Snow Leopard disc contain are outdated, open Apple Software Update on Windows to install the most recent Boot Camp drivers.

On Snow Leopard, you can only download the Boot Camp drivers for the Late 2010 MacBook Air. On Lion and Mountain Lion, you have to download the Boot Camp drivers for all the computers. If you try to download the Boot Camp drivers on Snow Leopard with your computer, you will get a message telling that there aren't any drivers to download for your MacBook Pro
