I am using version iPhoto'11. Since I installed this version I experience some difficulties. After importation of pictures I can see the pictures under Library/Pictures but not under Library/Events. However I can see the event with the event title, the number of pictures and the pictures itselve as small thumbnails. BUt ounce I want to open the event to see the pictures in full screen the event title annouces 0 pictures and no pictures are visble anymore to mee. I have checked if the pictures are marked as hidden and this is not the case. What's going wrong. All the other events are visible in a normal way.
The albums with the same pictures into them are visible.

Make a temporary, duplicate copy of the library and try the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your Home/Library/Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache files that are located in your Home/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - reboot, launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding the the Option key. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.
Fix #2
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys depressed and follow the instructions to rebuild the library. Select options #1, #2 and #6.

Check the songs are really not in the Music section of the library by clicking the magnifying glass in the search box and unticking Search Entire Library if it is ticked, then typing in the name of the album. If the tracks still don't show try closing iTunes and deleting a hidden file called sentinel from inside your iTunes folder. This should make iTunes run an integrity check on the database when you start it again. Make sure the tracks are checked before you try syncing again.

Have you got notifications muted ? Only notifications (including games) get muted, so the Music and Videos apps, and headphones, still get sound.
Depending on what you've got Settings > General > Use Side Switch To set to (mute or rotation lock), then you can mute notifications by the switch on the right hand side of the iPad above the volume switch, or via control centre : swipe up from the bottom edge of the screen and it's the right-most of the 5 icons in the middle of it (if the icon is white then it's 'on', tap it to turn it grey and 'off'). We would need some basic information first - what OS version is on this Mac now and which version did it come with originally?
If it has an OS version on it which was purchased at the app store, your friend needs to wipe the drive completely and reinstall the original system using the install disks it came with. You can only sell or give a Mac if it has the same system installed it originally came with; if it has been upgraded, the disk needs to be wiped or you will wind up with a pirated OS and will never be able to reinstall.
So, please furnish the information needed and inform your friend that s/he needs to wipe the drive and reinstall the original system.

From your Safari menu bar (top of your screen) click Safari > Preferernces then select the Privacy tab.
Click: Remove All Website Data
Quit then relaunch Safari to test.
If you still have problems with Facebook, go to the Facebook page then click the downward facing arrow to the right of Home then click Account Settings.
Select Security on the left then click Secure Browsing.
Select the box next to: Browse Facebook on a secure connection (https) when possiblle then click Save Changes.

This is a user-to-user technical support forum. We can't do anything to "protect" your iPad. If your files are backed up (and only you would know if so and where) you should be able to access them from your back up.

On the POP account it sounds like you have this checked...
Mail>Preferences>Accounts>POP Account>Advanced tab>Remove copy from Server after downloading.

There was away (before Mavericks) I could single click on an email and it would highlite but not open. I could either delete or second click and the email would then open. Can anyone tell me how to configure the prevue pane to that end with Mavericks?

With Mavericks that doesn't seem to be available making it impossible to delete an email in the prevue pane before I open it. Its frustrating to have to go through all the monkey motions when I know I want to delete it from the get-go. Does anyone know who to configure for that operation? I'm using an iMac.

I run TWO programs for protection of my MAC now and have been for sometime b/c developers of them become complacid thinking MAC is impermeable.
My MAC locked me out of it and two externals and when I finally did get back into them Norton Anti-Virus found a "worm." When I asked the program to find the origin, it was traced back to an email, as you said, that I opened unintentionally. I still have two external HDs for backup and a cloud backup now.
When ClamX ran after Norton was finished, ClamX found what it called as "spyware," and it's origin was in my email also. I tried to delete the emails after the programs (both) identified the infected files, however once deleted and the computer is restarted, they were still there because I ran the scans again.
Now since we are no longer talking about how to turn on and off the view pane in apple mail; riddle me this, why can't the developers of these antivirus and antispyware/malware programs get together and develop ONE PRODUCT that catches 90-95% of the viruses/worms/spyware/malware ect that get onto MAC's? Is it because they are too busy thinking they don't exist?

If i move my iphoto & iMovie source library / Events and Projects to an external hard disk, due to size, will my existing slideshows work ?

I need to move my photo library and Movies (Events and Projects) to an external hard disk as my 700gb drive on my iMac is now full (*see note below)
I have brought 2 Samsung External drives (3TB each) which I plan to partition each for Photos and Movies i.e 2 partitions on each drive, and will use one for use with iPhoto and iMovie, and the other drive for a dedicated backup. I will backup the remainder of my iMac hardisk to a seperate disk.
What has just occured to me is that after I have moved the libraries I cannot see how existing iMovie projects and iPhoto Slideshows will work, as each Application will be looking for the source files on the original iMac hardisc (I assume).
I am running Snow Leopard v10.6.8 ( I did not want to upgrade to Mountain Lion as I was told the iPhoto and iMovie changes were a 'backward' step. However I now want to upgrade to Mountain Lion, for security updates reasons mainly, and so need to free up my hard drive.
Can anyone advise on the best way to proceed ?
* - the iMac hard disk become full very suddenly, possibly due to duplicates, as I have noticed duplicate events and clips in my iMovies event library. I have noticed that some events are also now not showing, with message 'No video clips match the current selection' (I have not search criteria set).

I was planning on manually backing up my external to the time capsule - but is there a way to set it up to back up automatically instead?
Time Machine will backup up automatically - you can not have your iPhoto library on the same volume as the TM backup (it will not work and it would not be a backup)
Dragging the iPhoto library to any external drive will backup it us also
I was also thinking about having the library copied to another external (I mean we're talking about irreplaceable photos here) - would i just drag a copy of the library to that drive as well?
Yes - that is a good idea - I run TM giving me hourly backups and a daily clone of my entire system giving me a bootable backup - plus do an occasional TM backup at our second home so I have one off site

Hi Sharky,
First, I would make sure you are charging using the wall adapter and cable that came with your phone. Plug into wall outlet.
If it was completely drained it can take about 20 minutes for it to fully get enough power back to even start up.
After about 20 minutes of charging in the wall outlet try turning it on like normal.
If it doesn't respond by just pushing the power button, try pushing and holding the power and home buttons together for about 15 seconds to see if it will startup.

At libreoffice site I clicked on download and the download appeared in "My Documents" in "Downloads. When I click it to install it, it says it can't read it and to contact section administrator.
