I backed up my iphone to my itunes account and now all my contacts are gone can I get them back?

I backed my Iphone up to my new Itunes account and I have lost all my contacts. Please tell me there is a way I can get them back?

This is what it says under "iTunes will back up the following information":
Contacts* and Contact Favorites (regularly sync contacts to a computer or cloud service such as iCloud to back them up).
* Your contacts are part of the backup to preserve recent calls and favorites lists. Back up your contacts to a supported personal information manager (PIM), iCloud, or another cloud-based service to avoid any potential contact data loss.
Sounds like you may have experienced some of the "contact data loss". I suggest using iCloud in the future.

I’ve contacted a friend that works for Mac; He is a bit of a genius. Apparently when you reboot there will be a copy of your backed up phones details from before you installed the new software. I'm currently trying this and just pressing ok to all of the error messages. Looking at the screen on itunes that displays the usage, over time it’s filling up more and more. Maybe also give it a go and see if second time lucky things come back, especially all those contacts. Ill let you know how I go.... I’m definitely considering blackberry after this and I have been an iPhone devotee from the start!! NOT HAPPY JAN

The iphone is designed to be synced to your computer regularly. Your contacts will be in whatever program you have chosen to sync. Just sync them back

while trying to update my version, itunes kept timing out. I successfully updated another phone w/o a problem. After 8 hours of attempting and even trying 2 different computers, I decided to "restore"! My bad!!! Was so frustrated by then I just did it. Now, phone is as if I took it out of the box! The only way you can get back some info is to restore your phone from the most recent backup. Naturally, any data added to the phone since that last backup and current, will be gone.

Redownload them.
Computer: Open iTunes Store > Purchased (in Quick Links on right)
Phone: Apps - Open App Store app > Updates > Purchased
Music & Videos - Open iTunes app > More > Purchased

I just upgraded my iPhone4 iOs and lost ALL Phone Contacts! How can I get them back?

HELP! I've been using my iPhone consistently for ALL phone numbers, since I have serious memory problems due to fibromyalgia. I upgraded my phone last night finally, having moved my photos out of it I had the space to download and install the upgrade.
I got a nasty shock this morning when I tried to make a routine call and found ALL of my phone contacts missing. They don't seem to be either in the cloud or in the phone. What happened? It said it was storing them in the cloud but they're all gone! How can I get them back?
IF this normally happens, why should I ever upgrade? Seriously! I didn't think to copy all of it out manually before upgrading, I'd upgraded once before without any problems. Addresses and other details gone too. I've got four numbers in "Favorites" but no context for them beyond location by state. I don't even know who they are - can't recognize just the numbers.

If it backed up to my laptop, that died and I just got the new computer. The one that's crashed won't even boot, so there's no way to even tell if it was syncing the contacts along with all the phone photos. Literally happened at the same time - it was because I had the new computer that I was finally able to pull the photos off the phone and make room for the upgrade. It had refused to upgrade for lack of space for some time.
I had thought it was set to sync to iCloud but it vanished from BOTH my phone and the cloud. That's why I'm so angry about it.

To get back those apps, follow these directions:
Tap App Store.
Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID used for the original purchase.
Tap Updates.
Tap Purchased on the resulting screen.
Locate the app in your Purchased tab.
Tap the download icon.
The app will begin downloading and you'll be taken back to your home screen.

Restore from backup.
In itunes > right click the device in the list on the left, select restore from backup.

You can get your information back if you have previously done a backup in iTunes or iCloud.

This will help you with putting the information back onto your device.

You should be importing pics to your computer regularly as you would with any digital camera. Nothing should only be on your iphone. You should keep everything on your computer.
If you have failed to do this, then they are gone.
You can try restoring from backup.
