I bought an iPad 2 for Christmas and a small crack appeared near the middle of the screen, I put on a screen protector but it spread and now goes across entire screen, it is barely noticeable and everything works, what can I do to get it fixed.

I bought an ipad2 for Christmas, a small crack started near middle of the screen, I put a screen protector on but it spread the length of the screen. It is barely noticeable and everything else is fine. What can I do to get it fixed? Is it under warentee? The store I bought it from said call the apple store. I called the apple store and they said bring it in but store is a 80 minute drive and they might fix it for at least $200 more. I described what happened and employee said that was impossible or basically I am a liar. Any thoughts out there? I just find it hard to believe that with all iPads sold none have had an imperfection with the glass. Mean it still works but why do I neen to pay hundreds of dollars to fix this?

The technician apparently doesn't believe, or at least isn't sure, that the crack would have appeared without some sort of impact to the iPad. I have no way of knowing whether or not the crack in your device appeared spontaneously nor not, but what I believe really doesn't matter; it's what Apple believes, and if they believe that some damage occurred to the iPad, due to a drop, being hit, having something dropped on it, whatever, If you can't convince them that the crack occured spontaneously, then the problem will not be covered under warranty and you have to pay for the replacement. You can try going to the Apple Store, explaining the situation, and hope that the technician agrees that the problem wasn't due to user damage, but no one here can guarantee that. You'll just have to try.
And yes, sometimes people do lie. I'm not saying that you did, but the Apple technician has I'm sure heard a number of lies from people in similar situations.
