Who is the carrier the iPhone is carrier locked with?
If the carrier has a blacklist for lost/stolen cell phones, it would be the carrier you need to contact.

Thanks. I messed up with my husbands iphone because I was told the wrong thing. Now everytime I sync his phone it makes it look just like the other phone I had. Take it back to whomever you purchased it from and ask for a refund. There is no way to get past the "Activation Lock".

Iphone 3g will not update to ios 5. It is not compatible.
If the iphone is hacked/jailbroken/unofficially unlocked then it will be locked after any update/restore.

Apple does not track stolen devices. If you didn't have the Find My iPod touch app installed, you're pretty much out of luck.

Hello. I have updated my iphone 4 to ios7 after doing a backup to itunes. I am caught in a loop of being asked to 'restore from backup' as part of setup and that restore failing because the phone already has it's content I believe. Please help if you can.

Hi. I have an iphone 4 that I have just installed ios7 onto. I had backed up the phone prior.
After the software install the phone rebooted and showed the 'Hello' setup. I am stuck because as part of the setup it asks me to 'restore from backup via itunes". I dont understand why i need to do this as I thought the ios7 install procedure would restore the phone with it's content.
I tried to restore from backup but it says I cant because there is not enough space on the phone. If I connect the phone to itunes, it shows that the phone has all my content, especially since iphoto launches and I can see all the photos it wants to download to iphoto off the phone.
I am caught in a loop. My phone has it's content, but the startup procedure on the phone will not let me progress until I have restored from backup via itunes. But it cant because the phone has no space!!
The only other option it gives is 'Set up as new phone".
Can anyone help please. Thanks.

You should be syncing your contacts with an app on your computer or cloud service (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo, etc), and not relying on a backup. If you haven't been doing this, start now and then restore your old backup. You will then be able to sync the new contacts back into the phone. However, you will lose all messages, etc newer thant the backup.

There is no support for wired printing.
It is probably a firewall issue, possibly where all inbound communications are blocked. Since you're at work, I'd call your work IT department and find out from them what you can/can't do.

For iTunes backup go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and look at the date of the late backup.
For iCloud backup you have to have another iOS device signed int iCloud and then go to Settings>iCloud>Backup and look.
If you previously synced to the computer then you may be able to recover use of the iPod without erasing the iPod by following the instructions here:

i updated, i start firefox 2 tabs open one is "take the tour" tab the other is google, done the tour, a few times it opens up again every time, start of the healing process by typing in the question '"i keep seeing thr "take the tour"page on startup,then following the steps of the expertise i go to help,trouble blabla and i end up looking for user.js so i delete it or rename in a folder that contains folders and other data that nothing in there is like user.js file, so in the following question that is formed above there was no answer so i stepped into this case (only i had to create an account that was not my desire in the process) , thats all i know of.

So, if you do not have the user.js file then you can rename or delete the prefs.js file (pref.js.sav) to see if that helps.<br />
Windows likely hides the .js and shows them as User and Prefs.
You can also try to delete the compatibility.ini file to force Firefox to reinitialize some other files.

You could always READ the article from which the question was posted as it explictily details how to find the IMEI and several other identifying numbers. Including ways to find them in iTunes without the phone.

when you start using iCloud on any iOS device and enable find my iPhone, this prevents a new user from using it, and also prevents anyone from using the phone
as it is locked to previous owners account ,this is also the case if when a phone is lost or stolen.
the only way around this is to have the previous owner reset their apple id by going to @ applied.apple.com
if they are unable to do this, then the only other way around this is to have the previous owner get a copy of their original receipt and call apple support who can then lift this lock if they get a copy of the receipt
