i brought my iphone5 from the apple store been using a O2. Sim in is it still unlocked

If you requested an unlocked iPhone at the Apple Store, your iPhone should be unlocked. This should be indicated on your receipt and on the retail sales box. If the O2 logo and name are included on the retail sales box, the iPhone is not unlocked.
It isn't the SIM that is unlocked, it is the iPhone itself.

Basics from the User Guide are restart, reset, restore from backup, and finally restore as New. I suggest you try ALL of these steps if your phone continues to have problems.
If after ALL 4 steps your phone still doesn't work, you've no choice but to have your phone serviced by Apple. As you've found out, the iPhone warranty is NOT and has NEVER been international. You'll have to send your phone to someone in the country of purchase to bring your phone into Apple--and then to have that person send the phone back to you.

IPhone 3GS from Apple store in Germany? Is it unlocked?

Hey everyone! I have a UK 02 contract with an unlocked iPhone 3GS (unlocked by 02 after my initial 18 months). I was having problems with the phone and Apple in Germany replaced it a couple of weeks ago under warranty (as it's a worldwide warranty and I'm living in Cologne right now). Anyway, am I right to think that this iPhone will be unlocked as I got it directly from an Apple store? It obviously works with a German sim I've tried but I've not got a UK one to try at the moment. I tried calling 02 and asking them; a guy told me it was definitely unlocked if straight from Apple but I'd like to hear from other people as I might sell it to a friend in the UK and don't want to if it's locked.

All you have to do is pop any sim into the phone other than the one you're currently using(different carrier). If the phone works with no error messages, its unlocked.

If it is an officially unlocked iPhone, you can use any supported SIM.

Be warned that if you have used some other method to unlock it for use on another network already, you may not be able to legitimately unlock it any more.

According to a chat with an Apple support representative, the iPhone 5s is not yet sold fully unlocked. But it is unlocked for international use. This means that it won't work on any GSM carrier in the US other than T-Mobile. But it will work with any GSM carrier outside of the US using a SIM card. You should make sure the frequency bands are compatible with your local carrier.

This may not be the option for your then. These iPhones come preinstalled with a T-mobile for use domestically and can be used internationally with a local GSM carrier.
You would need to contact AIO wireless directly to see if it would be compatible.

To the best of my knowledge, all iPads sold directly from Apple are unlocked. The only caveat would be if you intend to puchase in the US; if so, you'll need to make sure you purchase the GSM (AT&T) model, not the one intended for use on Verizon's network.

If the iPhone has, subsequent to the original purchase, been legitimately unlocked (as happens in UK )by the carrier, then a replacement either as a warranty or out of warranty will be unlocked as long as the transaction is carried out in original country.
However make sure the Genius is clearly aware that the iPhone is unlocked

If your iPhone is new and you purchased from an Apple (Corporate ) Retail Store then you have to activate after inserting a new carrier sim for first time

Without contract is not the same as unlocked. The update to iOS 7 relocked
the iPhone to the wireless carrier to which it was originally locked. You must
contact that wireless carrier to see if they offer unlocking and if you qualify.
If you used jailbreak or other hack to unlock the iPhone initially, the method
used may prevent a legitimate unlock from succeeding and may render your
iPhone unuseable.

I bought the company unlocked phone from apple store Canada. It was originally loaded with software 4.2 and was working fine here in SaudiArabia. Yesterday I updated with IOS 5.0.1. Now it is showing that sim is not valid. The same sim works fine in other phones.

Here's and update on my problems and here are are some screen shots of the types of problems I've been having since the v5.0.1 update. Keep in mind these are native apps and I have tried the rebuild phone crap many times, nothing helps.
This is screen shot of a what happened when I tried to use my camera one day, both the front and back cameras were all black. I had to power cycle the phone to get rid of this problem. The cameras appeared to be working correctly, I could focus and zoom but it was all black.
Here is an image of what happened when I searched for something in a map. This is after I picked the choice I wanted, the keyboard disappeared but the list didn't. I had to force close the app and restart it for this problem to go away. Who knew five bars on ATT was possible.
And finally this is the messaging app, although you would not know it. I had to return to home screen (after a long pause for it to process the button push) and return to the messaging app. This happens all the time with the messaging app and the notifications sounds drive me crazy. If i'm using the phone, say browsing the web and I get an incoming message its almost 100% of the time the messaging app will screw up. The sound will play at the wrong time or not at all, message will show up in notifications and diasapear in message app or Ill have a problem like this:

Upgrading to Lion
If your computer does not meet the requirements to install Mountain Lion, it may still meet the requirements to install Lion.
You can purchase Lion by contacting Customer Service: Contacting Apple for support and service - this includes international calling numbers. The cost is $19.99 (as it was before) plus tax. It's a download. You will get an email containing a redemption code that you then use at the Mac App Store to download Lion. Save a copy of that installer to your Downloads folder because the installer deletes itself at the end of the installation.

The only iPhones available unlocked are from Apple Retail Stores or Apple .Com etc
All others will be locked to a carrier ,one way or another

Where did you purchase this. The US phones do not come with the SIM removal tool anymore. They haven't for some time now. I'm not even sure it comes with any of the devices anymore. You can just straighten out a paper clip and do the same thing.
