I bought Macbook Air early 2014. Ever since i bought it to turn it on after a long ie. 5hr - 6hr i have to first charge it for at least 15 mins and sometimes it wont turn on for 3hr - 4hr and then it will turn on regardless of the battery charged. If i had put it on sleep even then it wont turn on it will work as usual as it is suppose to do. I went to icare twice and they game me the device back after 1-2 weeks saying it is now not giving any issue but when i will used it next morning again same thing happened. It's like i can never go out anywhere with the laptop outside as i have to first charge it and then turn it on. Icare wont replace my device they only say if there is any issue with the hardware we will replace that hardware but i think it is useless because they don't know what the issue is. Can someone help me out what to do now ? It's been to iCare ever since i bought it now i don't want them to again do the same thing.

  • Macbook Air Early 2014 Display

I was wondering if the Macbook air early 2014 13 inch models have either a 4K display or the ability to play 2160p?

The only Mac which has got a 4K or bigger display is the 5K Retina iMac. However, neither the display nor the GPU of the MacBook Air support such a big display resolution

  • Storage information on MacBook air early 2014 seems to be weird.

Hi!... got a tiny problems here so umm can u guys figure it out.
I've done everything including reinstall Yosemite 10.10 to get this matter out of my mind
The problems is the storage is showing app storage is 91.85GB but my flash storage is only 121GB then how come it still available 89.51GB free?
and also my apps folder tells me that it only contains just 13.46GB. Also it should be the "other" indicator storage too, but where is it? because
before it was supposed to be there.
This problems occurs after i turn off the filevault. After knowing this happening then i did turn back on and it gives me the same results.
If not mistaken, the FileVault on os x Yosemite is defaultly enable when the installation process is done i guess.
is it a bug on Yosemite or what?
is it had to do with the filevault inside the system preference?
What should i do? help! please......

  • SDD or Flash on Macbook Air early 2014 series

    Hello,
I bought a new Macbook Air 13 inches with 256 GB storage. This is an early 2014 series product.
I see 2 different description about the storage device on the laptop. I read SSD and also read FLASH Storage.
Are both SSD and FLASH the same?
What is the actual storage type on this laptop ?
    Thanks,
    Ajay.

They are the same thing. Your new MBA will have about 235GB free (when I got mine I wrote down the number so I wouldn't forget it. Forgot where I put the note). The OS and standard apps take up about 15GB and the SSD reserves a small portion of the drive for wear leveling purposes. (To see more about trim and wear leveling, read this article.)

  • Macbook Air early 2014 - Horizontal lines in screen

    Hi to all,
I would like to add my problem to the community. I bought this September a Macbook Air (i7,8GB RAM, 256GB, Samsung Display LSN133BT01A02) and I had the horizontal lines problem. As you understand the problem is not great and it does not affect the performance of my Mac but since I bought it I want everything to be perfect (it is not a cheap machine). So, I contacted Apple and they suggested me to go to an Apple Service Centre. The "geniuses" changed the Logic board and they have done a mistake in its order, so I had it back with an i5 processor. "Fortunately", even with the downgraded machine I had the same problem. So, I recontacted Apple and I had a replacement of my machine. Now, I have one new machine (i7,8GB RAM, 256GB, Samsung Display LSN133BT01A02) and again the same problem. Guys this situation drives me crazy and completely disappointed with my Air (ok, I know that I may overreact), but my main issue is to find out if this is a software or hardware issue. In both cases (old and new machine), the lines were appearing after many hours of usage, they had a length varying from few inches to the whole screen and their number were mainly one (one pixel thickness). An other interesting point (that makes me believe in the software issue) is that the colour of this line was the one of the previous window that I open. As a result, having many windows open, the colour of the line is the "damaged" colour of the previous window that I minimise.
To troubleshoot the problem I have done a complete format of my Mac, SMC reset, PRAM reset but still the issue is there. When the line is there I move the screen and nothing happens & in the screenshot the lines are not present.
Now, I want to discuss about the possibility to be a universal problem with Airs (and especially with the ones that have Samsung Display). I am wondering about the possibility of being so unlucky since also other guys had the same issue after even 3 replacements. I really opened this thread so as to hear your opinion and if somebody troubleshooted the problem it could be extremely interesting. I would like also to add that also in Yosemite the problem is still there.
    Thank you all!

Just to add also a more technical view point: I said that I have this problem after many hours of usage. So I guess that a garbage collector (software base) of the Mac does not work so properly and consequently it leaves garbage to the memory. This may lead some timers (internal clocks) to sub-function and as a result the rendering of the graphics to be damaged in some points.
I am not an expert but I try to guess what is happening.
    Thanks for any contribution.

  • After upgrading to yosemite macbook air(mid 2011) cannot connect to macbook air(early 2014) via airdrop

last night i upgraded mine and my wife macbook air to yosemite.
before, we can share files with airdrop easily but now the mba (early 2014) can not send file to the other one , also the old one

    19.83 GB Page-outs
You are maxing out your RAM. Try quitting Chrome, it seems to be a resource hog and try closing other applications that you aren't using.

  • Price to repair liquid damaged MacBook Air (early 2014)

Anybody know what it will cost to repair a early 2014 13 inch MacBook Air with liquid damage?  Is the repair a complete replacement of the innards?  Is there an additional charge if the display is liquid damaged (not cracked)

It will be very expensive. You will need to ask at your local Apple Store. We don't have that specific information.

  • How can I upgrade the hard drive in my MacBook Air early 2014 11"?

i have a macbook air with a 128gb ssd drive and want to install a larger drive. where can I buy the drive from and how do I install it?

At the present time there are no third party PCIe SSDs available.  Until some are produced for sale, the only alternative is to purchase a MBA with larger storage.
    Ciao.

  • Question regarding line in on Macbook air, early 2014

Excuse my english, I'm from Sweden.
My computer is running OS X 10.9.5
I'm trying to figure out exactly what apple mean by saying:
If the computer only has one port for sound then it will be marked with a headphone sign and can be used as both in- and output for sound.
This text is found in "helpcenter" and futher down, apple also suggests that the user could change the function from output to input by choosing in the "use for" meny. On my computer this meny does not exist at all and there seem to be no possibility to configure the 3,5mm port.
I honestly don't get it... Is there some additional setup that has to be done? Do I have to download some drivers for the soundcard? DOES the Macbook air even have the hardware possibility to record via line in..?

Hi Lanny - thanks but I can't make this link work! It comes up with a blank page. Having said that, I already searched on google and amazon but I don't understand which/what I need - so I really wanted a definitive answer!

  • MacBook Air (Early 2014) Camera won't work with Webex

    Hi,
I just bought an 13" MacBook Air but unfortunately the built-in camera doesn't work with WebEx. It works on my iMac hat home though (late 2013 model). I've seen some of the discussions here but didn't find a solution yet. Can anybody help and point me in the right direction here?
    Thank you!

I don't use WebEx, but one of these ideas may help you get things working:

Are you using WBS 29.10 or newer with your "MacBook Air, OS X Yosemite (10.10.2)"?

If your camera works with Apple software (your problem is ONLY with WebEx), click here to sign in to contact WebEx support.
WebEx will be best able to help you use THEIR product with your Apple Mac System or tell you if it is not currently compatible.

  • Macbook air early 2014 touch pad problem

Does anyone know why sometimes I want to do click by tapping the touch pad is unresponsive and shows up as not working.

If you have been taking care of the trackpad and haven't pressed hard or spilled anything, I think it's a system glitch. Try resetting the PRAM memory. I'm not sure if fore Yosemite it's like this, but for older os x it's kind of like this: At boot, while screen is still black, before boot tone, hold the following keys:
    Command+Option+P+R
Kep holding till the computer restarts and there's a second boot tone. Again, I'm not sure if for Yosemite it's like that, but investigate. If not, take it to apple or a good mechanic for maintenance.

  • When to charge macbook air early 2014?

Don't know if the version matters but anyways...
Should I be charging to 100% and then using it to about 30%? Or should I only take it out of it's charger when I need to take it somewhere/use it where there is no plug?
I bought it back around July? or August? And it has a charge cycle of 45. Stil low but I'm also wondering if that is too fast.
What is the best way to charge it?

Keep the computer plugged in whenever possible.
If you keep the computer always plugged in, make sure that at least  twice a month
run it on battery until battery level drops to about 50-40%.
Never drain the battery below 10% charge level.

  • My built-in camera on my MacBook Air has not worked since I bought it.

I did not get the warranty so they would not cover the camera. The techs at the Apple Store couldn't figure it out and I do not have the money for a new one. Do any of you have advice?

When you buy any Mac, it is covered for one year - including all hardware. So yes, they are responsible for replacing or repairing it.
