I can receive I message but can't send I message

Help....I can receive an I message....but can't send one, or reply to one!

My best guess is that you are accidentally typing in the subject field without realizing it and when you try to send the message, it will not go through. Unless there is text in the text area - and not just in the subject field, the message will not send.
Like I said, that's only a guess. Try using the subject field again, but make sure that you are also typing the message in the text field and see if the message will send. You can always turn the subject field off again if it will not work. If I leave the subject field turned on, I can still text, as long as I type the message in the line below the subject field.

The fact that you can receive means you have a valid e mail address, and have established the connection to the incoming server, so all of that works.  Since the send does not work, that means your outgoing server is rejecting whatever settings you used formthe outgoing set up.  Try them again.
Google your particular isp, and ipad and many times you will find the exact settings needed for your isp.  Or tell us here, and soneone else may be on the same isp.  Some mail services need you to change a port, or have a unique name for the outgoing server.
    Kep trying.

  • Can receive e-mails but unable to send e-mails (BES)

    Hi everybody,
Whenever I send an e-mail I get this X sign and a message saying "Service Blocked". However, I can receive e-mails and it says Received As Desktop (Secure). I contacted Saudi Telecom and they assured me that my account is BES and they even showed me that in the screen.
I'm kind of lost, I tried all solutions but nothing worked for me. I have the 9000.
    Many thanks for your support,

    Hello naserals
I can tell you with 100% certainty that you do not have to correct
plan for BES email. Contact your service provider and tell them you need to
have BES services provisioned on your account.  If they say the
provisioning is correct tell them you want to talk to a supervisor because it
    is not correct.

  • Mail / Login in with Gmail/ received email ok but when problem sending.

I log into my mail using gmail, and was receiving email ok. I tried to send an email to my other gmail account, but it showed up in the spam ?? What's going on?
    Thanks.

I guess you could try but I don't believe Apple can help with activation lock issues.  They may, however, be able to determine if the Apple ID belongs to one of you and reset the password for you if you can prove your identity.
You might want to try calling Apple by going to https://expresslane.apple.com; click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'.  In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then 'Lost or forgotten Apple ID password'.  Perhaps they can help determine if it's your ID and reset the password for you (and they probably have more expertise in doing this than the Apple store).

  • Able to receive e-mail but unable to send.

    Hi,
I've had my Macbook Pro since January and have my e-mail accounts set up through mail. About a week ago my cox accounts stopped sending email. The error states that the server does not recognize the smpt account. I called Cox and everything is working on their end. I can send and receive from the webmail site and my smtp is set up properly.
I tried deleting the mailbox to re-set it, but it doesn't delete. It asks me if I'm sure I want to delete; I click yes; it's still there.
Any help will be greatly appreciated!

You need to make sure your Outgoing mail Server is correct in Mail>Accounts>Accounts Setup. In any case SL Mail and AddressBook forum is here:

  • I am receiving emails perfectly but I cannot send them. I have checked my account preferences and it says that my outgoing mail server is offline?

It is a gmail account through the University of Notre Dame if this has anything to do with the problem!

    Go to mail preferences.
Select the mail account that doesn't work...
Now check with comcast for the correct setting of incoming and outgoing mail server for comcast.net quick internet search will let you what they are
now port problem can also be found doing a quick search, depends if comcast requires SSL encyription yes or no and which port to use. when you change the settings to the right once your mail will work again.

  • Receive but can't send emails using Outlook Expres...

Is anyone else experiencing this again ?
OE leaves my mail in the Outbox and BT Mail will not accept them on a send/receive. Also still experiencing password rejection problems everytime I send/receive. If I cancel instead of trying again. It receives my mail but will not send it.
    Any ideas please ?
    Thanks..............
    Spoiler (Highlight to read)

I suspect you will all ready have done this because you were previously sending emails but it might be worth doing it again in case there has been a glitch in the system.
Verify the non BT email address. See this link.
    http://bt.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/10903/kw/reset%20BT%20Yahoo%20Password/c/346,412,416/...
I think you also need to ensure that you have ticked the box “My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication" - and you need to use "Log on using" and enter the BTinternet email address/password  you've used to verify the Non BT email address.

  • Can't send any emails from various accounts set up in mail 4.4

I have a number of different email accounts (3 POP, 1 IMAP) set up in mail 4.4. Lately i have had some problems sending emails from some of the accounts. Usually, I get the outgoing mail server reject message, and then I try another server, and then it sends. THe next time I go to send an email through the outgoing server that I was rejected by, it sends without problems. Each time I shutdown, restart, or open the lid on the macbook, I go through the same process. UNTIL today. Now, I can't send ANYTHING outbound, via any of the 4 outgoing mail servers that I have set up. I have run with this same configuration without change for almost 3 years. Only change is that I have recently changed ISPs. Please help. Work from home, so critical problem.

I had had the same problem after changing my ISP. It is definitely a Mail 4.4 problem. I partially fixed it by trashing all four of my e-mail accounts in mail preferences (simply click on the minus sign to delete them) and rebuilding them all with the correct settings and passwords. This worked fine with ATT, MSN and QWest but the Mail app simply refuses to connect to AOL's outgoing mail server (smtp.aol.com). In other words, I can receive AOL mail but I cannot send AOL mail using the Mac Mail app. Have to log on to AOL's web site and do it that way, which is a huge pain in the you know where. Mail 4.4 is definitely hinky -- keeps erasing passwords and asking for them again and again. As a result, my keychain contains numerous repetitions of the same password for each mail account. I don't know why Apple doesn't fix this problem, which recurs with depressing regularity according to many Mac Mail users on this forum.

  • Can't send mail lately

    Dear Guys,
    Greetings again.
Lately, I can no longer send email via a commercial ISP at home. I am able to receive mail. But when I send email, they go to a Dark Hole and nobody receives anything from me. Yet, I can find all those sent messages in the SENT box.
I checked the SMTP setting and everything is accurate.
I would appreciate it if you could tell me what other things I should look into?
    THANK YOU.

    Hello Jimmy.
Lately, I can no longer send email via a commercial ISP at home.
I am able to receive mail. But when I send email, they go to a
Dark Hole and nobody receives anything from me. Yet, I can
find all those sent messages in the SENT box.
You are able to send messages with this account and SMTP server. If a message cannot be sent for whatever reason, it will remain in the Outbox mailbox usually with an error message provided.
A message moved to the account's Sent mailbox indicates the message was successfully sent by the SMTP server used with the account. Open a sent message in the account's Sent mailbox and at the menu bar go to View > Message and select Long Headers. The Message ID information is another indication the message was successfully sent.
A successfully sent message is either accepted or rejected by the recipient's incoming mail server. If rejected for whatever reason, you will usually receive a return email error message from the recipient's incoming mail server indicating why the message was not accepted. With so much spam being circulated and since spammers don't provide a valid sending or return email address with many spammers using what is called a "dictionary" attack guessing at email addresses for a particular domain, many ISPs and email account providers no longer send a return email error message to the sender of a message when the message was not accepted.
Basically if a message was successfully sent, what happens to the message after that is beyond your control.
You can try contacting the provider for this email account and SMTP server and ask if there is anything they can do with the Message ID information for the messages that were successfully sent but the recipient indicated the message was not received.

  • I can't send e mails out...help

I just got started up with my iMac...and i can receive e-mails but they wont send out.  what am i doing wrong???

Who's the eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Can't send e-mails using Versamail 4.0.1 form my Palm Centro (unlocked - from ATT - on Rogers network).

Good afternoon. I am using a Palm Centro I just bought (unlocked - from ATT - on Rogers network). All is working great BUT sending e-mails. Versamail is receiving just fine but refuses to send. It puts everything I try to send into the "outbox" and then tries to send only to later tell me that it unable to send. The server I go through is a POP server. It has never given me such an issue before - Any advice!!

    Hello!
With POP/IMAP email, there are 2 server.  One is incomming to whihc ur ok and the other is outgoing to which that one is not.  Since you are using Rogers for service, use the SMTP server from them to which I do belive is still smtp.rogerswirelessdata.com for the outgoing mail server.
Even though the phone has been unlocked, the phone design is still ATT so the versamail application is probably still using ATT's SMTP by default and you need to make the manual change.
