I Can't Burn A Disc

I want to burn a mix of songs off of iTunes for my friend, and it initalizes then burn, but when it starts writing the first song, it cancels the burn.
Any ideas?
The type of blank cd's I'm using are Memorex.
And, all my songs are from the music store that she wants. If that matters at all.

You were almost there, in advanced select burning (it has general/importing/burning) it's in the next window that you select an audio CD, the gap between songs and the burn speed. Hope this is helpful.

Have you tried repairing disk permissions? Utilities>Disk Utility, select Macintosh HD and click 'repair disk permissions'.

    Hello deneye2112,
Thank you for providing the details of the burning issue you are experiencing.  I found some resources that I think might help:
First, I recommend resetting the System Management Controller (SMC) on your Mac (I wasn't sure if you had a removable battery or a built in battery, so I listed the steps for both):
Resetting the SMC on Mac portables with a battery you can remove
Note: Learn about removing the battery on MacBook and MacBook Pro.
    Shut down the computer.
Disconnect the MagSafe power adapter from the computer, if it's connected.
    Remove the battery.
Press and hold the power button for 5 seconds.
    Release the power button.
Reconnect the battery and MagSafe power adapter.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Resetting the SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your ownNote: Portable computers that have a battery you should not remove on your own include MacBook Pro (Early 2009) and later, all models of MacBook Air, and MacBook (Late 2009).
    Shut down the computer.
Plug in the MagSafe power adapter to a power source, connecting it to the Mac if its not already connected.
On the built-in keyboard, press the (left side) Shift-Control-Option keys and the power button at the same time.
Release all the keys and the power button at the same time.
Press the power button to turn on the computer.
Note: The LED on the MagSafe power adapter may change states or temporarily turn off when you reset the SMC.

  • Can't burn a disc help

When I go to burn a disc I get the message "iTunes needs to close. Sorry for the inconvience etc........ I have tried many ways to do this but keep getting the same sorry message!
Is there anyway I can get around this or what causes the problem? I am using iTunes 6.0 as I don't want to upgrade for fear it will cause problems on my computer again. From what I am reading on this forum there are are a lot of problems with newer versions.
I would like to burn a disc which contains music I have downloaded from iTunes.

Same thing has happened to me. I upgraded to itunes 9.0 and now I am receiving the disc drive or software not found error. Diagnostic also shows that my CD/DVD drive isn't recognized. I have uninstalled and reinstalled the itunes software as well as my drivers and it still isn't working. I have also done every tip recommended by Apple and on various forums to no avail.
I guess I should have stayed with the older version....I have never encountered this in the past. This is very frustrating, hopefully Apple can come up with a solution quickly.

  • Since I updated my itunes I can't burn a disc in MP3 format.  I converted the list to MP3 but it still won't burn., Since I updated my itunes I can't burn a disc in MP3 format.  I converted the list to MP3 but it still won't burn.

Since I updated my itunes I can no longer burn a playlist to disc using MP3 format.  I clicked on converting the songs to mp3 format but they still won't burn to disc.  The computer says it is checking media and then stops.

same problem. Im using itunes version 10.6.3, I converted wavs burnt from cd, to mp3 using itunes, these were  NOT PURCHASED from itunes, and when I try to burn an mp3 cd using the new mp3 files, they convert to wavs before my eyes every time i create a new playlist of the mp3. The mp3 revert to wav within less than 30 seconds. As if itunes is saying, let me help, I substitute the higher quality 1411 wav files for you. And of course, now they wont burn to mp3, because "they must be converted to mp3 first" before burning.
But every list of the mp3 version of the files keeps reverting to 1411 wav files?
    WHats going on? Thanks

  • I can't burn a disc from iTunes download....error 2131

error message 2131 stops me from burning a disc from my recent iTunes download.  How can I get around this or fix this ......Windows XP.

The 2131 is usually related to out-of-date firmware on certain types of DVD/CD drives. But we'd better doublecheck that.
Could you post your diagnostics for us please?
In iTunes, go "Help > Run Diagnostics". Uncheck the boxes other than DVD/CD tests, as per the following screenshot:
    ... and click "Next".
When you get through to the final screen:
... click the "Copy to Clipboard" button and paste the diagnostics into a reply here.

  • Can You Burn an Disc with JPEGs That is Read Only

Is it possible to burn a disc through the finder that will have only JPEGs and have it be read only so no one can copy the images to another computer? Just see them, not copy.

    No.
Screen capture utilities exist that circumvent that protection. Better to embed a watermark if you are worried about copying.

  • Can't burn to disc

HI, I am trying to burn a playlist onto a disc, but when I select burn to disc, it says the disc is being used by another application. I cannot eject the disc either! This is only happening since I installed OSXLion, and upgraded my iTunes...what do I do?

I'm having the same problem EyeTV to Toast 7 doesn't work - and Toast 8 is not the solution if you look round other forums. Today I exported from EyeTV to iDVD - it appeared to be going through ok but at the end it said it failed to burn a couple of files and iDVD was stuck and had to be force quit.
The resultant DVD will play in Mac but just whirrs and grinds in a DVD player under TV. I wasted four disks to this point!
Prior to this I had burned 50 DVD's of same brand and label - Sony with no worries whatsoever. Can only think something altered in one of the upgrades, as I had burned a DVD since upgrade to Leopard.
I found this - and thinking of giving it a try.
Found this commentary below at http://www.macfixitforums.com/showflat.php?Board=Forum32&Number=835555
A-ha! I knew I was right. I spent a couple hours on the phone with Apple support. The first couple techs tried to pass it off as a hardware issue, but I insisted that it was not and kept insisting to speak with someone else.
The first step was to check the other administrator profile on my macbook to see if there were any burning issues. In the other profile, I successfully burned from both the finder and iTunes, indicating that it was not a hardware issue. Back to my admin. profile; it still would not burn. We tried deleting a couple specific preference files (username>library>preferences), and that did not work either. A new feature in Leopard is that you cannot delete the preferences folder altogether, but you can however delete all the contents. After I deleted the contents, I logged out, and logged back in and emptied the trash can. I had to re-do all of my program preferences, but I was able to burn properly from every program afterwards. This is in fact a Leopard issue and the problem is being reported to Apple's engineering department so they can further investigate and generate a fix or help article on the matter.
    ........Anyone game to try it?

  • Can not burn to disc

I am trying to burn a disc from my playlist. It h=asks for a blank cd and once this is in it comes up with checking media - then nothing happens???

I had the same problem with blank CDs after burning a playlist on iTunes 7.2.0.34.
I just downloaded and installed the latest version 7.2.0.35 from the Apple website (not through iTunes "check for updates" which said "7.2 was the latest") and now everything seems to be in order and the CD burning works.
    Good Luck!

  • Can't burn full disc bought from itunes b/c track is disabled for burning??

CD is Sugarland, Enjoy the Ride. Everytime I try to burn a disc, during the checking playlist step I get a message that one of the tracks (These are the Days) is disabled for burning. Help!

Apparently there are several issues that Apple has when attempting to burn your own CD for music. There are also several applications available in Itunes to burn a CD, I.T. MP3 etc. I am still having problems creating my own CDs' , initially, I did not have a problem, once I activated the MP3 downloads, all bets were off....
