I can't drag an images between not floating frames

Hello i have the newe Elements 12.
It was working perfectly, but after the last up-date there was a problem.
Ican't drag images between not floating frames anymore. this was possible before the up-date.
now the images can only be draged if one is a not floating frame and the other one is a floating frame.
does some one know how i can change this?

No fix. It's a bug introduced with the update. Using floating windows is the only work-around.

Can't drag an image to an album?

I am probably doing something boneheaded here (which I usually end up doing at least a few times per day)... but, I have a project, within that project are two albums. I have each album open (via option click). Is there a reason I can't drag an image from one album into the other by way of the browsers for each? IE, click on image A within the album's browser, I will call that album 1 and then drag the image to another browser, let's call it album 2. I could have sworn I have done this before, but now I can't? I can drag the image from the active browser to album 2 via the inspector pane, just not via the two albums browser windows? Kinda of a slow down to move from adjustments to projects back to adjustments when I should be able to drag and drop.

So the issue is that you can't drag between two browser windows, but you could before?
Can you set the HUD to adjustments, the sidebar to projects (and expand the project to show the "To" album) and drag and drop between those?

Drag & Drop Images Between Tabs?

Hi, Forgive me if I am missing the obvious but I need some help.
Just got myself an iMac and I am in the process of getting it set up how I like it, Made the move from a Windows PC where I used the FireFox browser.
My plan had been to just use Safari on my Mac to take advantage of all the good things like handoff, keychain etc with my other iOS devices.
Now here is my problem, I use eBay a lot and I upload extra photos to hosting sites, then drag and drop them from that tab into the description on the eBay tab.
However Safari does not seem to allow this, When trying to drag the images between tabs I just get a green + symbol which replaces the tab whereas when I use FireFox to do the same the other tab essentially "opens" allowing me to drop the image in.
Is there anything I can do to fix this or a work around? I have tried the "Copy image" option but when I paste it in I just get a broken image picture.
I should say the OS X version of FireFox works fine so it must be something to do with how Safari handles it.
Hopefully somebody can advise?

I have found a slight work around in that if you use a new window instead of of a tab, then shrink it down you can drag and drop images.
But surely there has to be a way to do it between tabs?
Basically I am looking for a way to have the tab open when it is hovered on instead of the green + button appearing...

Create a smart collection with criteria "collection" and "does not contain"; and also with criterion Folder contains (or folder contains all)
That works if you are thinking about a specific named collection.
If you are interested in finding photos that are not in ANY collection, the usual trick is "collection" "does not contain" "a e i o u y"

Sounds like you may need to repair the Disk Permissions on your drive where your images are stored.

Can't drag & drop images from Windows Explorer into Elements 7

Hi...
I'm a Photoshop Elements 7 newbie... I can't drag and drop images (jpeg, tiff, Olympus RAW) from Windows Explorer (file explorer and not IE) to Photoshop Elements like I can in Corel Paint Shop Pro X2? It also works in Corel Painter IX.5 & ArtRage 3 (except for RAW)... My operating system is Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit.... I've uninstalled and re-installed Elements but to no avail. I've also tried to run Elements under various compatability modes but still no luck....
Any ideas?

I wasn't running the program as administrator so I enabled that compatibility property applied it then disabled it. It seems to work now. I thought I'd add this to flesh out the previous answer. I didn't open the program in between the enable and disable, so it is a quick process. Also, I am using windows 8.1 and had to open the file location in order to do this. Right click on the tile then choose 'open file location'

How can I drag an image from a page in Safari to the finder and have it be saved as an *actual* image instead of a webloc?

Safari used to let me drag an image from a webpage to the finder and have the dragged file be saved as an actual image but now all that's saved is a webloc file. I want the image saved, not a reference to the image's URL - do I now have to always use "save as" to save it?
I can understand Safari creating a webloc file if I dragged the site icon from the location bar to the finder, but to make the default behavior for dragging things that are parts of a page (not the page itself) as webloc files seems like a HUGE step backwards for usability.
Does anyone know if there's, say, a key to hold when dragging to avoid saving a webloc file or a defaults command or something to make Safari revert back to sane draging behavior?

Good questions... I'll have to try and figure out when the problem first happened - I was thinking it was when I upgraded to Safari 5.1.4 but that might not be the case... I'll try your suggestions to see if any of them eliminate the problem (I have restarted recenlty and that didn't fix it) but I'll try repairing permissions,etc. Thanks!
hmmm... Mcbuffy: are you implying that you *don't* get the webloc when dragging an image out of Safari and that this isn't a caused by change to Safari but is a big/conflict in mine?

Drag an image picture, will disappear frame is not moving

When you clicked on 'Hide Contentgrabber', the next time you go to the View / Extra's it should read 'Show Contentgrabber', do not click that option again! If it now reads 'Show' it means the current view is Hide, which is good.
Try this, hover (not click!) slowly over the exact middle of you picture: if you now see a circle appearing on the image and your cursor changes to a hand, then the contentgrabber is on and that is NOT what you want. If nothing happens, then it is hidden and you can drag.
Alternative: click anywhre but on the middle of your image before dragging it.

CS3 Photoshop Extend/WIN XP can´t drag an image from 1 pic to another

When I open a file, it will also normally appear as layer in layer-palette.
When I open a second file next to the 1st and try to move item from that file to 1st file, it can not be done.
I can move the item in it´s own file but I can´t drag it to another file.
Layers do not merge under one window but stay in their separate windows.
What is the prob?

I´ve been using CS3 for a while now, so no need to learn basics, thanks for idea though.
I have been using a move tool but for some mysterious reason the item that I want to drag doesn´t leave the picture frame. It moves inside the frame but I can not move it outside the pic frame and into another pic/file.
I´ve made a new layer with copy a layer-command so ther should be no problems. Also both pics a lock-free.
Both pics are also in the same resolution and color mode.

Can't drag certain images into other albums

Hi, forgive me if this has been covered here, but I couldn't find it in search.
I cannot copy certain image versions to other albums within the same project for some reason. I have a couple hundred shots in this project, and most drag/copy into the album fine, but there is at least one that does not, no matter what I do. I've tried unstacking it from it's stack, etc. -- still won't copy.
It does act as if it's copying though -- the green plus sign appears over the album - but it never appears in that album.
Suggestions?

Make sure you are not filtering what the browser is showing in that album. Check that the searching box doesn't have anything written on it. By default should say 'Unrated or better'. Also if those versions you are copying are marked as rejects you'll need to select in the searching box 'Show all"

Can't drag firefox image into applications folder

The instructions advise to drag firefox to image of Applications folder, but I can't find the firefox image. 2 show up on my desktop, but neither look like the one in the image and neither will move to applications folder or to dock. HELP!

Make sure that Firefox gets installed properly.<br />
Open the DMG file and drag to Firefox program to the application folder on your hard drive.<br />
You shouldn't double-click the Firefox application to run it from the disk image, but drag it out of the DMG folder instead.<br />

Drop & drag in a symbol not at frame 0:00

Hi there,
I've viewed this awesome tutorial on drop and drag ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u4R8jFI_DeE ), but I want to have a drop and drag that's within a symbol and that doesn't appear until later on in the timeline.
Is there a way I can do that?

What I did was to:
Rename "circle" to "combination" to remind me which one had both the target and the element to be dropped
Removed the code to include the call to yepnope and used the fancy, new script loading feature to include jQuery-UI (look in the Scripts section of the Library Panel)
Changed the call to be local to the combination symbol (in that context, "sym" stands for "the current symbol," which is "combination" in this case)

Can't drag and drop images onto PS icon using Snow Leopard

In general this is minor but frustrating. You can't drag an image from a document onto the PS 11.0.1 icon anymore to open the image in Photoshop.

that if you choose delete the prefernce files .plist/.cs and use "SAVE AS" vs "SAVE" the files I referred to above get saved when attempting to open th project again. I tried it and it seems to work for me now. I hope this helps others with the GB *"File Not Found"* dilemma in Leopard and Garageband V5.1

How do I turn off preview of hidden areas when dragging an image in frame with Direct Select Tool?

CS5, Not sure how to word this...
In previous version of ID, if I had a graphic in a frame, I could drag the image around inside that frame with the Direct Selection Tool. I can still do this with CS5 but it seems to want to show the entire image in a ghosting way that is outside of the frame. Is there a way to turn this preview type look off like it was in previous versions? I feel like its slowing my computer down bigtime because I am dealing with a large image. Everytime I click to drag it, everything slows to a crawl and unusable.

Go to the Prefernces and set Live Screen Drawing to Delayed.

Dragging One Image Onto Another

The book, Photoshop Layers, by Kloskowski, starts the subject of Masks on p. 94 by telling the reader to open two images, then use the Move tool to drag one onto the other so that they are in the same document.
A picture of what that should look like shows, in the Layers palette, image A in the Background layer, and image B residing in Layer 1. Each thumbnail shows an entire image (not a checkered thumbnail with a small image within it).
As the title indicates, the book is designed for Photoshop users. I use Elements 6 but have been able to perform most of the tutorials; however, the above instructions baffle me. I cannot fathom what he is talking about.
In Elements 6, How can I drag one image onto the other? I start out with two images in the bin - and the move tool does not work on bin images. I have tried various workarounds but the results do not look like the Layers palette picture he shows. For instance: File/New/Blank File does not work.
As to my level of knowledge: I am very comfortable with layers of all sorts and understand/use them. I am also familiar with Elements. So, if you will, assume I am not a neophyte, even though my question may seem very basic.

Normally this won't matter, but there are situations where it does change what you bring in; like rasterizing an EPS file, for instance. In full PS, it creates smart objects from the files you use the command on.
A text layer, for example, is no longer editable after being placed. But for most images, I suppose it would be okay.
