I can't drag and drop anylonger!!!

Apple family! I can't drag and drop icons anylonger... therefore, I can't copy stuff from one folder to another!!! REALLY BAD! What can I do? Thanks.

Press Command(cmd) + Alt+ Esc, select Finder and press "relaunch". That fixed it for me

Hi. I have not used Roxio Jam for quite a long time and I just wanted to make a few CDs. Jam used to work easily and well. I have a problem. I can't drag and drop iTunes music files anymore and, now I have to import music one song at a time by using the "+" or "-" buttons on the bottom. What is going on? I trashed the preferences file and restarted Jam to no avail. I also have selected that Jam should open files with iTunes in the Jam preferences. I have a G5 DP 2Ghz PPC machine with OS 10.4.11, iTunes 9.2.1 and Quicktime's version is 7.6.4. I have 2 GB of RAM and the machine has dual 1.25 Ghz. processors plus a 500 GB HD. Can anybody give me any suggestions?

I found an solution.
Uninstalling AirParrot as well as the two offending AirParrotDriver.kext and APExtFramebuffer.kext files in System>Library>Extensions was the fix. All problems disappeared.

Try repairing permissions.
Applications > Disk Utility
Click on the hard drive in the column. Then verify disk permissions. Repair disk permissions.

Can't drag and drop folders in Mail

I have a lot of folders in Mail, and I can only drag and drop a folder among the set of folders that is visible at a given time. If I need to drag the folder up or down, to an area that must be scrolled to, it does not work. This started when I upgraded to Yosemite.

It means don't open the Contacts app, open in in Mail: ⌥⌘A
I found another solution: type the name of the address group I need in the to: field.

I can't drag and drop the songs around in a playlist I made

I just made a new playlist and for some reason I can't drag and drop the songs around to change the order. I have two other playlists and I can drag and drop the songs in those playlists just fine. How can I fix this?

In iTunes I can't drag and drop podcasts onto my iPod anymore. I can still drag and drop songs onto my iPod and I can still drag and drop podcasts into other playlists. I've tried restarting my computer and my iPod and I've also checked for software updates for the iPod and iTunes. Help?

Update: I seem to have fixed the problem! I went to the "summary" section of my iPod after clicking on the device on the left side of iTunes. I checked the box that allowed me to "manually manage music and videos" and applied this option. The songs are syncing! And, yay, they're playing on my iPod now! Hopefully, this helps anyone else who might have this problem. There might be other issues, but this is working for now.

Can't drag and drop or copy multiple photos from iPhoto 9.4.2

I am trying to export multiple edited (not originals) photo files from iPhoto to finder (actually to place in my Dropbox folder to share with friends/family). This used to be (in previous versions of iPhoto?) an easy case of dragging and dropping a selection of photos, or even a whole event, to the desired location in Finder. However, this no longer seems to work. It seems like it will as when you select and drag the photos, the 'green plus' symbol appears and remains when I move to drop the selection into finder, but then nothing happens. The photos dont transfer.
I can still drag and drop a SINGLE photo effectively and it saves in the edited form. I also tried selecting the desired photos, chosing copy and then paste in the desired location in finder. But when I chose 'paste' (right click, paste; or edit, paste) in the desired location, it only pastes a limited selection of the photos which I chose to copy. Not all the photos copy across.
I cant understand why this is no longer possible as it used to be one of the classic examples of intuitive file actions that I love Apple for. The only way I can find now is to chose to export the selection or event (file, export) but this is much less easy and requires various decisions about the file quality etc. Using this option with various compression options, I have not been able to replicated the "original" file size which is displayed under 'info' for each photo in iPhoto.
Any ideas please?

Thanks LarryHN thats helpful. I've just tried that and the export 'current' option does indeed re-create the edited photo file with exactly the same file size at that shown in iPhoto. I did consider the 'current' option but was put off by the loss of the metadata with this option. But maybe the old drag and drop approach was the same?
It's curious that the resulting file size from 'export, current' is different (larger in the example I just tried) in comparison to that resulting from 'export, jpeg' (with either the medium or high option selected).
OK there seems to be a couple of reasonable options available although neither is as nice as the simple 'drag and drop' which used to be available!!! Why would they remove that option?? (and yet not for single files?).

I connect the iPhone to itunes. that works. Everything shows up fine, but I can't drag and drop music from the 'music' section of iTunes 12 on my new mbp or my iMac. I used to be able to. Also, when I slide to delete songs on the iPhone, they still appear as 'ghosts' in the list on iTunes when the phone is connected - if I double click them, a exclamation mark in a circle comes up on the left of the track and it doesn't play. Can anyone help? Kind of need to get this sorted - it's bloody frustrating. I've restarted iPhone, iMac, MBP, downloaded the latest versions of iOS, OS X 10.10.3.

you iphone does not work like a regular ipod, where you can drag and drop music, you must sync it with itunes. plug it into your computer, click on the icon that is labeled iphone. when you do this there is a section on the top that says music. click on that, then you can select playlists and artists, etc. then click apply. it should work then

I thought it was a problem with senuti but now I can't drag and drop even my downloaded songs into itunes (i have to do it from the file menu) this is ok i guess but it doesn't work for senuti and i want the rest of my songs! what would make itunes stop having this function? I recently installed iTunes 4.3.5 and can't drag and drop music into my 'music library' anymore. Every time I try to drag the music from a folder into the library, that little circle with the line thru it comes up (not allowed symbol). I've been using iTunes for years and am pretty computer savvy... I have no idea what the problem is. The only way I can add music right now is if I go to File>Add File to Library and that takes way too long, especially when adding 20-30 songs. I am using Windows 7 and I have an iPhone 4. Please help! This is extremely frustrating.

What did you actually install? iOS 4.3.5 on your iPhone? If so, this has NO affect on the ability to manually manage media via iTunes.

I can't drag and drop from a data CD I recorded

I recently burned some audiobooks files (in mp3 format) as data cd's in Toast 8.0.1. When I go to reload them back onto my 20" 2 Ghz Dual Core Intel I can't drag and drop the files directly into any folder while using the columns view in a finder window. I can do it if I drag onto the music folder and let it spring open down to the level of the folder. I also can drag the mp3's into iTunes and then into the folder. This is not CD related since I used several diff brands.
I constantly update, backup, repair permissions, and do other maintenance so everything is up to date. I have noticed this behavior just since I started to use the program called Audiobook Builder. I am (and have always used) a non-admin user account. When this started a few months ago it seemed to go away with a restart, permission repair, or a logout but now it seems permanant. I checked user permissions on my home folder - I have not added any software since adding Audiobook Builder. Any idea's? I read something about trashing a com.apple pref but didn't try that.
I suspect Audiobook Builder since it changes the permissions and filetype to the iTunes Audiobook filetype but have not seen anyone reference this.

I agree, I can't see much reason for drag-and-drop to drag the unprocessed image - in other words, an image that isn't the one that you see when you drag and drop. But if you do want to drag-and-drop the original unprocessed image, you can do it very easily now. Right click the image, choose "show in Explorer", and then drag-and-drop from Explorer.

I can't drag and drop my songs from mp3 rocket to my iphone?

i have my mp3 rocket account linked to my itunes account and some songs get put onto my phone, but some dont. i can't drag and drop and if i try to rename it with correct characters, nothing happens. the mp3 rocket folder is in music under shared libraries and they look like albums with a musical note in the middle. i tried unchecking and checking them again but nothing happens. i've restarted my computer. and i added those songs to "what's new" but i still cant add them to my phone...

Can't drag-and-drop from CD to Desktop

I can't drag-and-drop a photo from an Iphoto CD to the Desktop. I was able to do this on my old 17"IMAC. But the new 20" won't allow me to this anymore. Once I drag it past the Iphoto window the cursor has a circle with a bar across. The MAC person at CompUSA couldn't help. Can you? His suggestion was to drag it to the Iphoto library and then drag it out of the library to the Desktop. Huh?

In Iphoto, I select the albums I want to copy. I then hit burn CD. It then determines the amount of space needed. Then I hit burn CD again. Its begins burning the CD, then it verifies the CD, then ejects the CD when completed.
When the CD is re-inserted, Iphoto displays it as a regular album. I select the album, then a file, and attempt to drag-and-drop that file to the desktop. The cursor appears as a circle with a bar and it won't allow a one-step drag-and drop as with the old 17" IMAC.

Can't drag and drop music to iphone5

I updated to the latest Itunes, plugged my new Iphone5 in and "restore from previous Iphone back up" It did it fine, then i went to manage music manually and checked the boxes for all the artists I wanted on my new phone. Sync it to my phone and all seemed ok. Prior to this I downloaded 250 songs off the cloud so I had some music while I updated my computer so I could run Itunes for Iphone5. When I sync everything it doubled up the 250 songs that were on there. then some worked and some just skipped over and went to the next song. I want to delete the doubles off my phone and re-enstall the music which i can't do from Itunes and when i do it from my phone its gone on the phone but still on the "on this phone" in itunes. I can't drag and drop any music onto my phone and when i go to "music" on my phone from itunes it says i have to erase all content and sync with this computer. this is the only computer and only account it has ever seen.

Tried that, I can get almost all my music except one album (the album I want). I deleted it off my phone by swiping then hitting delete. It does not show up on my phone but it does say that it is on my phone when i plug into itunes. I can't drag and drop it, I checked the box for that album and it didn't transfer. No idea what to do. How can I even just use Itunes to delete music off my phone? Used to be able to highlight and then right click and then delete, not anymore.
