I can't expand my Time capsule with an other airport to support wifi transfer itunes music to my stereo receiver.
I can't expand my Time capsule with an other airport to support wifi transfer itunes music to my stereo receiver.
I can see my time capsule in the airport configuration program, but not my airport. Not even when it is cabled.
On the side label find the model number.. A1084 for example is old. It will not work.
The new one A1392 and the earlier N wireless A1264 will both work.

How can I use my time capsule with windows7
How can I use my time capsule with windows7?
This is asked regularly.
https://discussions.apple.com/message/10978060#10978060
Look at the more like this. On the right column next to the post.
Load airport utility for windows.. which will also load bonjour for windows.
In windows explorer type \\TCname or \\TCipaddress (replacing with the actual values.. names with spaces will give you trouble so change all names in the TC to SMB compatible or actual ip address). -
Can i connect my time capsule with my router as a bridge ?
can i connect my time capsule with my router as a bridge ?
I am a bit lost .. did you work this out?? You are running a second thread.. and answered it with this question.
The TC can be bridged.. plug it into the main router by ethernet and run it in bridge mode.. that is router bridge.
Do you mean wireless bridge??
If you mean wireless bridge the answer is maybe but unlikely.
If you setup the TC to join a wireless network.. it becomes a dumb client not a bridge.
So to get it to wireless bridge you need to use another apple router.. that is the only way to get them to work.
If you want specifics ask specific questions. -
Can i use my time capsule with virgin wifi hub
can i use 2tb time capsule with virgin media wifi hub router
Yes, but it will need to connect to the Virgin router using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection from one of the LAN <--> ports on the Virgin router to the WAN "O" port on the Time Capsule.

Can I use two Time Capsules? one as an extension of my laptop (for music and video storage) and the other one to back up everything from the laptop and Time Capsule (for music and videos)
Not via Time Machine. It cannot back up from a network location.
The 3rd-party apps CarbonCopyCloner and ChronoSync may be workable alternatives.
EDIT: And, if you're going to do that, you could back up from the Time Capsule to a USB drive connected to the TC's USB port. Second TC not required.

How does one sync the new time capsule with the old airport extreme and airport express in order to extend range?
Thanks for the additional information.
Unfortunately, the AirPort Utility application in the Lion and Mountain Lion operating systems, which is used to configure the new Time Capsule does not support the older versions of the products that you have.
Even if it did, there are no settings on the older AirPorts to "Extend a wireless network", so they are not compatible with the new Time Capsule if you intend to extend the network only using wireless connections.
If you have the ability to connect each AirPort to the Time Capsule using a permanent wired Ethernet cable connection, it might be possible to use a complicated workaround to install an older version of AirPort Utility to configure the older AirPorts to work with the new Time Capsule.
If you have another Mac there that is using the Leopard or Snow Leoapard operating system, things would likely be simpler. I have not done this type of procedure to mix a new Time Capsule with older AirPorts, so I would not be able to say whether this would work or not. -
Any tricks to swapping out my old time capsule with a new airport extreme I am also using airport expresses? The hard drive on the TC quit working.
I do plan on using an external USB HDD for time machine backups. I have both 802.11g and 802.11n used for playing music via stereos.
I would recommend against it. Apple does not support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks (USB HDD attached to the AirPort Extreme). Although folks have done so, we get a number of them here asking for help with their corrupted backups. If your backups are critical to you, please use another means (like connecting the USB HDD directly to your Mac) to do so. -
My problem is that I don't know how to use my Time Capsule with Ethernet Cable, as when I use wireless it is really slow.
Make sure that there is an Ethernet cable from one of the LAN <-> ports on your modem/wireless router to the WAN port on the Time Capsule
Click on the Wireless tab at the top of the page
Change the setting for Wireless Mode to Off (I assume that you do not want the Time Capsule to provide a wireless network since you already have a wireless network)
Next, click the Internet icon at the top of the screen, then click the Internet Connection tab
Connect Using = Ethernet
Connection Sharing = Off (Bridge Mode)
Click the Update button at the bottom and wait 30 seconds for the Time Capsule to restart and display a green light
Then, you must power off your entire network...all devices....in any order that you want
Wait a minute
Start your modem/router first and let it run a minute
Start the Time Capsule and let it run a minute
Keep starting devices one at a time until everything is powered up
If you are using Time Machine for backups, you will need to reset the connection because you have changed the way in which the Time Capsule connects to your network
Open System Preferences (gear icon) on the dock
Open Time Machine
Click Select Disk
Click the Time Capsule to highlight it
Click Use for Backup or, it might be Use Disk
Now you can connect your Mac using an Ethernet cable to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Time Capsule to back up using Ethernet. Be sure to turn off the wireless on your Mac before you start the backup.
If you want to backup using wireless, disconnect the Ethernet cable from the Mac to the Time Capsule and turn on the wireless and connect to your wireless network. Your computer will now backup using wireless. -
I have a 500 GB time capsule with a failed HD (i've repalced the whole machine with a new time capsule). I cannot get past the start up when I plug it in and the light glows a solid amber. If I remove the hard drive can I use it as just a wireless router to exted my network?
Yes, although the existing power supply might go bad before long.. you can run the TC as just an AEBS..
It is a fairly easy job to get the hd out.

Key to it is using hot air gun or even a hair dryer on really high temp lowest fan and spend enough time getting to glue to soften. -
Can't Connect to Time Capsule with VMware Fusion
I'm having problems connecting to my Time Capsule's hard drive with Windows through VMware Fusion. I have Windows installed with Boot Camp, and use Fusion to run my Boot Camp partition virtually. When booting natively(Boot Camp), Windows can connect to the Time Capsule hard drive without any problems. However, when using Fusion, I get the following error message when trying to connect to the Time Capsule hard drive:
+Unknown user, incorrect password, or login disabled. Please retype the login information or contact the disk's administrator(67)+
Any ideas as to what the problem is?I had the exact same experience as you. I solved it by putting the Time Capsule into Bridge mode. On either Mac or Windows, open Airport Utility and click on Manual Setup. Then click on the "Internet" icon. Near the bottom of the tab you'll see "Connection Sharing". Click on the small arrow and select "Off(Bridge Mode).
After doing this, the Time Capsule showed up in my virtual XP machine's My Computer as a mounted volume. I have successfully backed up my XP machine running in Fusion 2.0.1 by directing Windows Live OneCare to this network location.

Can I use my Time Capsule with a point to point antenna?
We have a building about 400 feet away that I would like to install wireless cameras. Can I use a point to point antenna with our time capsule or is there a better option?
The Time Capsule is too hard to get into. You can do this but the end result will be rather messy and for an expensive unit like the TC that is a waste.
Get a unit made for this job.. you only need a WAP..

the time capsule is giving flashed amber light and i cant connect it to my mac book pro. i want to use it with the time machine to make backup for my mac. please advice me.
To do the setup, plug it in via ethernet.. do not try to setup over wireless.. Once it is setup you can plug the TC into the network and use wireless.
Most likely you will use the TC in bridge to an existing modem router.. but we cannot help as you have no details of the network setup.
I do recommend in the setup of the TC you use SMB type names.. that means, short, no spaces pure alphanumeric.. as later Mac OS do have issues with long names, spaces and that apple shocker, the apostrophe. -
HT3728 can I rename my time capsule with a soft reset or how can I rename it?
I am trying to rename my time capsule, how can this be done? do I have to perform a reset and if so soft, hard etc.
If you are able to access the Time Capsule using AirPort Utility, you can rename the Time Capsule as follows:
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility 6.0
Click on the Time Capsule icon
Click Edit
Click the Base Station tab at the top of the window
Edit the Base Station Name as you wish
Enter the Base Station password...(.if you want to change it)
Verify password
Click Update at the lower right and the Time Capsule will restart in 25-30 seconds with your new settings.
If you want to change the Wireless Network name and/or password, click the Wireless tab before you click Update and make the changes that you need. -
Can I use 2 Time Capsule with the same macbook?
I am commuting between 2 locations every 2 months
In one location I have a Time Capsule 1To working find
in the other location I want to install a second Time Capsule to have backup here.
Question is, when I will come back to the other location Macbook will recognize first Time capsule?
Regards
NGI am using 2 TCs with my MBP. As far as I've been able to figure out, the macbook will not automatically detect and switch between time capsules. I manually switch backup location using the "change disk" in Time Machine Preferences.
I have no problems, but I am using one at work and one at home, so I am doing daily backups to each TC. I would guess that backups separated by 2 month intervals would take almost as much time as your initial backup depending on how many files have changed.
Also, you may want to check into accessing the TCs over the internet so you'd have access to the backups at the other locations. Maybe another app would be better since you don't have daily access to both TCs. -
When I choose the disc (Data) in System Preferences, appears the color wheel and no response. Any help?
