I can't get rid of browser malware?

Okay, so, this is a big problem I've been having all day, and only today. Suddenly, as I was browsing, I started getting ads. I thought it was because my adblocker was disabled. I re-enabled it, and suddenly, I still have ads. So I thought, hey, maybe it just isn't working, so I restarted Firefox (to be clear, this happens in Chrome, as well). Still there.
I get ads on websites that have never had ads before. These ads aren't on every website. Random keywords will highlight, and if you hover, they bring up ads. I also have, suddenly, a bar underneath my bookmarks bar that says "Search on Bing". Sometimes, when I click links, I get redirected, kind of like an adfly link is, and I can click forwards to my link via an arrow in the upper right hand corner. As you can imagine, these problems are terribly annoying.
The problem comes when I explain what I've done so far:
-I've checked my programs, nothing suspicious.
-No new, unwanted extensions.
-I've run Norton, Malwarebytes, and Adwcleaner, all of which detected things and removed them.
-I can't find anything in the registry that shows up as an issue.
-I've cleared out all of my files several times.
-I haven't downloaded much, recently. The problem started today. The only thing I downloaded was an update to a game, Cubic Castles, from http://cubiccastles.com (I have not tried uninstalling this, as it is supposedly a safe file; my friends and I have /all/ downloaded this file at the exact same time, I'm the only person with issues)
-I've got nothing going on in BitTorrent, and I've cleared out any unnecessary files sitting around on my desktop and such.
-I've reset FireFox, not Chrome. It doesn't sound like a browser problem.
-I believe that when I signed back into FireFox, is when it happened again, as I /did/ reset everything, I cleared the registry. It seemed clean, and then it popped back up again. I'm not sure if syncing my information is what triggered it.
This has to be the most frustrating thing to happen to me. Oh, and I might have you know that when I ran SpyHunter 4, which you apparently have to pay for, I had 1852 threats. Which I've hopefully removed. However, I saw /nothing/ about OffersWizard, and I haven't seen anything on my computer about it except on the ads that have shown up. I'm desperate here. It's making it impossible to use the web, and I'm paranoid it's going to receive my information and hack my accounts; I've had this happen on several occasions.
Is there any other way to get rid of this thing? Should I try a restore point? I'm at the end of my rope, and I can't take this any longer. Please, help me!

Do a malware check with several malware scanning programs on the Windows computer.
Please scan with all programs because each program detects different malware.
All these programs have free versions.
Make sure that you update each program to get the latest version of their databases before doing a scan.

  • How can I get rid of Findwide Malware?

Every time I launch Google Chrome, a second tab opens for search.findwide.com followed by a lot of other characters. Some research tells me that this is a common malware program and there are plenty of sites that explain how to get rid of it... on a PC! But NOTHING for the Mac. I checked the Chrome extensions, it isn't there. I searched the whole hard drive for "findwide" (like you do on the PC), but nothing. So I don't know where to find it or what it is called, and without knowing that, I can't get rid of it.  Can anyone help?

  • Can't get rid of virus/malware/infection

I have a virus/malware/infection that Office Max hasn't been able to get rid of and I purchased McAfee 2012 Antivirus Plus and even contacted McAfee for help.  they want more money and I have already spent $173 and can't spend anymore.
I have all the programs needed for reloading the harddrive.  I purchased all the programs a few years ago.
I have an HP Pavillion V5000 laptop.  I need to know how to reformat the harddrive and will this get rid of the infections??
    thank you,
    Gregory

     Hi,
These files would appear to relate to a Malware infection - the reason the specific DLLs cannot be loaded may well be because your existing security software has already removed them.
    Try the following.
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable CD which you can use to scan your computer and hopefully remove the Malware.
    http://connect.microsoft.com/systemsweeper
When this has completed, boot into Windows, then download and install the free versions of MBAM and SUPERAntiSpyware on the links below.
    MBAM
    SUPERAntiSpyware
When installed, run full scans with both these utilities - if any malware is detected, remove/quarantine it and run the scan again until both applications come back clean.
If the above doesn't help, post back with the following.
    1.  The full Model No. and Product No. of the notebook ( from the service tag underneath your notebook ) - see Here for a further explanation.
    2.  The full version of the operating system you are using ( ie Windows 7 32bit ).

  • How can I get rid of Browser hijacker in Firefox and Chrome please?

I was on a website today and it was full of pop up ads. I think I might have clicked on something by mistake and all of a sudden my webpage was being redirected every time I tried to do something. The last one led me to a blank page with something about adcash.com in the url - it was just a url in the toolbar in a blank page. can anyone tell me how I can get rid of this? I have a Macbook 2011. I am new to Macbooks so I will need someone to explain the help simply. Many thanks in advance.

The pop up is likely due to malware ..
Run the removal tool here >    The Safe Mac » Adware Removal Guide
Very easy to use, it's safe, and only takes a minute or two.

  • How can I get rid of the malware on my macbook air?

I have not downloaded any suspicious programs or clicked on any links but suddenly today, ads keep popping up on google and on websites like Tumblr, Facebook, etc. Pictures are even turning to ads, like the picture gets replaced with an ad for a farm game. I have disabled extensions, I have deleted cookies and cleared my cache, I have put chrome adblock on, and that keeps a lot of the ads away but the same 'mackeeper' link pops up on google search no matter what, as well as zeobit.com. I'm worried I'm going to have to get professional help.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem.
You may have installed the "VSearch" trojan. Remove it as follows.
Malware is always changing to get around the defenses against it. These instructions are valid as of now, as far as I know. They won't necessarily be valid in the future. Anyone finding this comment a few days or more after it was posted should look for more recent discussions or start a new one.
Back up all data before proceeding.
    Step 1
From the Safari menu bar, select
              Safari ▹ Preferences... ▹ Extensions
Uninstall any extensions you don't know you need, including any that have the word "Spigot," "Trovi," or "Conduit" in the description. If in doubt, uninstall all extensions. Do the equivalent for the Firefox and Chrome browsers, if you use either of those.
Reset the home page and default search engine in all the browsers, if it was changed.
    Step 2
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/LaunchAgents/com.vsearch.agent.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item named "com.vsearch.agent.plist" selected. Drag the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password.
Repeat with each of these lines:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.daemon.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/com.vsearch.helper.plist
    /Library/LaunchDaemons/Jack.plist
Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Then delete the following items in the same way:
    /Library/Application Support/VSearch
    /Library/PrivilegedHelperTools/Jack
    /System/Library/Frameworks/VSearch.framework
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/ConduitNPAPIPlugin.plugin
Some of these items may be absent, in which case you'll get a message that the file can't be found. Skip that item and go on to the next one.
The problem may have started when you downloaded and ran an application called "MPlayerX." That's the name of a legitimate free movie player, but the name is also used fraudulently to distribute VSearch. If there is an item with that name in the Applications folder, delete it, and if you wish, replace it with the genuine article from mplayerx.org.
This trojan is often found on illegal websites that traffic in pirated content such as movies. If you, or anyone else who uses the computer, visit such sites and follow prompts to install software, you can expect more of the same, and worse, to follow.
You may be wondering why you didn't get a warning from Gatekeeper about installing software from an unknown developer, as you should have. The reason is that the Internet criminal behind VSearch has a codesigning certificate issued by Apple, which causes Gatekeeper to give the installer a pass. Apple could revoke the certificate, but as of this writing has not done so, even though it's aware of the problem. This failure of oversight has compromised both Gatekeeper and the Developer ID program. You can't rely on Gatekeeper alone to protect you from harmful software.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • How can I get rid of Browser Highlighter? It doesn't show up in add-ons (either extensions or plugins), nor is it in Windows Vista program list.

Browser Highlighter updater box pops up every time computer is started & icon shows up in bottom toolbar. It doesn't show up in add-on list, nor windows programs to uninstall. I'm about to switch to another browser.

    https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/questions/711023
if this does not work look if you find it in:
    C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox\extensions '''and delete it'''
or try search the registry(but be careful) for the word "highlighter" '''and delete it'''
    thank you

  • Apple Users Can't Get Rid Of The New 'Super Cookies' That Track Private Web Browsing

Further to the article "Apple Users Can't Get Rid Of The New ‘Super Cookies’ That Track Private Web Browsing" https://ca.finance.yahoo.com/news/apple-users-cant-rid-super-180500863.html, is there a solution to resolve this security issue?
    Here's an excerpt from the above mentioned article;
"Apple users are particularly vulnerable, as their devices do not have a function that lets users delete super cookies from their browsers.
Most websites place what’s called a “cookie” on visitors’ computers, which is used to track them and record their preferences. It’s how websites can remember your password, for example. Like your web browsing history, they’re easy to delete. If you use your browser’s “private browsing” mode they’re never saved in the first place — and advertisers can't track you, and other computer users can't go back and see what you looked at.
However, a flaw in a modern web security feature called “HTTP Strict Transport Security” (HSTS) allows websites to plant “super cookies” that can be used to track web users’ browsing habits even when private browsing is enabled.
    Here’s how it works.
Security researcher Sam Greenhalgh writes that HSTS “allows a website to indicate that it should aways be accessed using a secure connection that encrypts your communication with the site.” This “flag” is then saved by your web browser, ensuring that any future visits to the website are secure. But this can also be abused, using this feature to store a unique number that can be used to track your web browser.
And because HSTS carries over into private browsing, it means the “super cookie” can be used to track you whether you’re attempting to cover your steps or not.
Greenhalgh says that Apple’s Safari web browser is especially vulnerable to the exploit. While clearing cookies on Mozilla’s Firefox, Google Chrome or Opera also erases HSTS flags, deleting the super cookies, there’s no way to do so on Safari on iOS devices.
This means that if you’ve had super cookies placed on your iPad or iPhone, there’s effectively no way to get rid of them short of reformatting the entire machine."

    Hi all,
I tried this with IOS 7.1.2 Safari on an iPad retina and the super cookie did not persist after web data and history was deleted.
I also tried this with IOS 8.1.2 Safari on an iPhone 6, and the super cookie persisted even after deleting web history and website data.
Evidently it was ok on 7.1.2 and broken on 8.1.2.

  • How can I get rid of tabbed browsing? I positively hate it and none of the choices in tools get rid of them.

I was using an older version of FF because the newer versions had messed up private browsing and I had the option of deciding if I wanted tabbed browsing. I switched to a newer version because a lot of sites didn't work with the older version.
I went into tools - tabs and checked what I used to use not to get tabbed browsing. Doesn't work.
Please tell me how to get rid of tabbed browsing and how to switch back and forth to private and regular browsing without opening a new tab/window.
If I can't get rid of tabbed browsing I guess I'll muddle along with an older version.

  • How can I get rid of vsearch ad injection malware?

I believe I have vsearch ad injection malware. How can I get rid of this? I am constantly getting pop up ads mostly for Mac Keeper.

There is no need to download anything to solve this problem. You may have installed a variant of the "VSearch" ad-injection malware.
Triple-click the line below on this page to select it, then copy the text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C:
    /Library/LaunchDaemons
    In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
A folder named "LaunchDaemons" may open. Look inside it for a file with a name of the form
              com.something.daemon.plist
Here something is a variable word, which can be different in each case. It could be "cloud," "dot," "highway," "submarine," "trusteddownloads," or pretty much anything else.
There may also be a file named
               com.something.helper.plist
    in the same folder.
If you find files with names that fit the above description, post what you have for "something."

    Hello Jeff,
Thanks very much for your reply.  I looked over the article you mentioned, but I have tried all of these methods, but only get the response "The item “29394D00” can’t be moved to the Trash because it can’t be deleted."  Similarly, I cannot Get Info on the file.  This is why I'm so concerned, it just appeared on my desktop, but I cannot touch it, or open it or delete it...
If you have any more tricks up your sleeve, I'd love to hear about them...
