I can't hear Skype sounds, at all...

All of a sudden, in the middle of a call I was in, Skype sounds just stopped. I tried recalling, nothing. Restarting skype, nothing. Restarting computer, nothing. Reinstalling skype, nothing. I'm getting very frustrated with this. I can hear all other non-skype sounds perfect, yet I can't hear Skype. I can hear through speakers, but I want to use my headset. I've tried the FAQ's, lots of fourm posts, and nothing is working. Sombody please help!

    Go step by step and test.
    1. System Preference > Sound > Output > Internal Speakers
        Highlight  Internal Speakers.
        Make sure that Mute is not enabled.
    2.Plug in and  remove the headphone.
        If you see red light in the headphone port, plug the headphone
        in and out of the port 5 or 6 times to flip the microswitch inside.
        Sound output may be stuck in the digital mode.
    3. Reset PRAM.  http://support.apple.com/kb/PH4405
    4. Reset SMC.     http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964
        Choose the method for:
        "Resetting SMC on portables with a battery you should not remove on your own".
    5. Applications > Utilities > Audio MIDI Setup
        Audio Devices window
        Side Bar
        Click the Built-in Output.
        Under Mute any of the boxes checked? If so, uncheck it.

    Have you "reset" the device?  http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1430..I'd also stop all of the apps with the double-tap-on-the-home-button method.

    The clip is intact and it has video and audio.
    I have worked on it before and all was fine until I lost the work when it got frozen!
    The issue is:
    I have a (MOV.) ready clip that I wanted to edit a bit, hence I have imported the clip (import media) and whenever I try to work on it, the black screen prohibits me from doing anything.
    Any ideas please ... It's really strange !

    Have you checked that they are selected in System Preferences>Sound>Output tab?
    If that doesn't help, and although I've never had to use it myself, I've read on here occasionally that launching Audio MIDI Setup in the Utilities folder and messing with the settings in there can sometimes sort out audio problems.

    All you have to do is update your sound/audio driver. (especialy if you just got a BIOS update, if you haven't, just proceed)
    first, make sure  nothin's attached to your laptop.
    go to hp.com -> support & drivers -  drivers & software -  (put in your product name/number - you can find that at the bottom of your laptop) -  at the drop down, select widows 64 bit (mostly)  then hit next - at step 2, 'SELECT A DOWNLOAD', choose driver - audio - click the first blue link and hit save - after saving, your laptop will prompt you to run it. hit run.
    then your laptop will reset, and it should produce sound.

  • When i start Firefox ( 5.0.1 ) it loads the home page fine but along with it, it starts playing a video i watched earlier on youtube and it is invisible ( no where in tabs ) and i can just hear the sound. After playing the video one time it stops.

    Sorry you are having problems. First of all try Fifrefox's safemode.

    Next step, if safe mode did not work.

    Hey ErikSimon, I kept troubleshooting my problem last night and when I loaded my samples an alternate way, actually the longer way, it worked. I think I have gremlins in the system or something, but I got it working again. I was having the issue when I tried loading the samples via these instructions that were mentioned in SFLogicninja's Youtube video @ 3:07

    Its very strange, I created this file outside FCP, using video gallery software.
    I placed in FCP and looking at the Wave Audio its a straight line. Means the audio is there with -1000db
