I can't open Numbers since the updates?

Since updating to Mavericks and installing the updated iWork apps in my iMac, I haven't been able to open Numbers. When I try to open a spreadsheet created on my iPad I received the following message, "You need a newer version of Numbers to open this spreadsheet." According to Numbers I have version 2.3 installed, but the App Store states that I have version 3.0.1 installed as of November 22...I seem to be having the same problem with Pages too.
Anyone have any idea of how to correct this?

Are you launching Numbers from an icon in your Dock? Installing the update does not change the Dock icons & it does not remove the older versions. Go to your Applications folder & launch the new Numbers from there.
Installing new versions of iWork has never replaced existing versions. This is nothing new. The only thing new is that the '09 apps are moved to an iWork '09 folder if they were purchased from the Mac App Store. If they were installed from disk they should already be in a separate folder in Applications.

I selected the option to download the Numbers upgrade and left it to do it. About an hour later I needed Numbers so tried to open the application but got a message saying the upgrade was in progress. Same several hours later. I rebooted my Mac and tried again with the same result. I went back to Upgrades & selected Numbers but it appears to have been installed yesterday so I can't re-install.

I wish I had a dollar for every person who claimed there was no way a file was saved in a later version only to find out it was.

Since the update, some yahoo groups can't handle the format while others can.

I belong to many yahoo groups. I use yahoo for email. Most of the groups can handle posts made since the update, but one of them bounces my emails saying the site can't handle the new format.

Highlight the song you want to copy
At the bottom of the screen, there should be a 'copy' button (looks like two pages on top of each other), press it
At the top of the screen it should say '1 copied', press it
You should get a pop-up to choose between Device Storage and the SD Card, press Device Storage
Scroll to the Ringtones folder, press it
At the top of the screen on the right-hand side, you should see the word Paste, press it
And you're done (I hope!).

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.) No data/files will be erased.

Okay , you should only delete EMPTY DUPLICATED folders, not preview folders or any others. I would put them all back. Then just delete any DUPLICATED EMPTY folders, do not disturb any other folders. On iOS switch off DOCUMENTS AND DATA under ICLOUD in SETTINGS. Do this on all iOS devices not just the one. Once deleted DUPLICATE FOLDERS on the mac in MOBILE FOLDERS then exit the LIBRARY. Open PAGES on your MAC and view folders on icloud. Check everything is all there as expected. If okay then DELETE and re-install PAGES app on iOS - THEN switch on DATA and DOCUMENTS in ICLOUD. Now open PAGES. If you have Time Machine on you can recover any 'lost' doc files and restore them from your mac from pages application. Try the process again and do not disturb any folders other than ones I mentioned as this is the system files LIBRARY. It is not a place to be over zealous in moving, altering and deleting folders and files. Take care please.

Since the update the other day, I cannot open my contacts on my iPad2. My iPhone is ok so far. I'm not sure about what to do to get it open. Any help would be much appreciated.

I tried that too and it didn't work. I can open Contacts but when I click on a name, nothing happens. The right side has three options, Create new contact, Add to Existing Contact and Share contact. If I click on add to existing contacts, a list comes up but when you click on a name, Contacts closes. If I click on create new contact, a box opens to set it up but it is small and doesn't look like the usual page to fill out for a new contact. This is so strange. My contacts are intact on the cloud and my iPhone but not on the iPad. Also, why do I lose some but not all phone numbers?

Please can someone help! I recently had a Numbers update which didn't complete because it had an error. I now can't open my numbers application and get the message "can't open numbers while it's being updated". How can I stop this and re-update it successfully? Thank you.

I suggest opening LaunchPad (in the Applications folder) then click, and hold, on the Numbers icon until they start to shake. The click the "X" in the top left corner (or Numbers):
Now click anywhere else on the background.
Now open the App store and reinstall.

I have managed to get FireFox's start-up memory usage down to about 100,000K, however it appears that memory usage keeps creeping up the longer FireFox is open. (It seems to top out around 500,000K.) And I'm not talking open for many hours or days - but rather for minutes and possibly up to a couple hours. (Based on how long I've been fiddling with all this so far.)
On the plus side, it does not appear GreaseMonkey is the culprit since with it active or disabled this memory creep still occurs. Although having GreaseMonkey enabled definitely increases the rate of memory creep. Though once it has creeped up to 150,000+K, disabling GM does not make it drop back down to the starting 100,000K.
I should point out I run a MacBook Pro and use Bootcamp to partition the hard drive and run it as a Windows 7 PC about half the time. I am running it literally as a PC or, alternately, as a Mac depending on which hard drive I choose to load. (I'm not "windowing" it.) This problem exists regardless of whether I am using the PC or the Mac. These repairs have been made currently on the PC side, and I will attempt them all again on the Mac side. I find it odd that this enormous memory drain has occurred on 3 different computers at the same time. (The two "halves" of my home laptop as well as the PC at my work place.)

Not enough free storage space can slow your Mac down.
Click your Apple menu icon top left in your screen. From the drop down menu click About This Mac > More Info > Storage. Make sure there's at least 15% free disk space.

Check to see if the startup disk needs repairing.
Launch Disk Utility located in HD > Applications > Utillities
Select the startup disk on the left then select the First Aid tab.
Click: Verify Disk (not Verify Disk Permissions)
If Disk Utility reports errors, restart your Mac while holding down the Command + R keys. From there you should be able to access the built in utilities in OS X Recovery to repair the startup disk.
Make sure to back up all important data first before using OS X Recovery.
Anti virus software, as well as third party Mac cleaning utilities such as MacKeeper and CleanMyMac can also slow your Mac down.
For Safari.
Open a Finder window. From the Finder menu bar click Go > Go to Folder
Type or copy paste the following
~/Library/Caches/com.apple.Safari/Cache.db
Click Go then move the Cache.db file to the Trash.
Relaunch Safari to test. if that doesn't help, troubleshoot Safari extensions.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.

Two problems here guys
1. My iTunes won't sync. Since the update to iTunes 11 it refuses to transfer purchaces from my iPhone 4S and won't put stuff from my phone into my iTunes library and I can't put anything on my phone through my laptop. Both the laptop and the phone say that they are syncing but nothing actually happens
2. As the Avengers Initiative app is currently free I decided to try and download it straight on to my phone, but every time I try it says I don't have enough memory, even though I deleted stuff especially so I could download this and I now have 3.6 GB free, so I downloaded it on to my iTunes on my computer, but of course my iTunes won't sync
I've reinstalled iTunes twice and it hasn't worked!
Somebody help please
