I can't print a double sided paper

I can't print a double sided project, I don't know what I am doing wrong.

If your printer doesn't do two sided printing (most don't) print the odd pages first, then flip the paper over and print the even pages.  You will have to experiment to see how to flip the paper.
I do it by printing page 1, then flipping page one over and putting it back into the paper tray.
Then I print pages 2 and 3.
Remove the the completed page 1 and 2.
Flip page 3 over and print pages 4 and 5.
Repeat the process until you are done.

    I am trying to print documents double sided but I cannot figure out how to do it.
    I have been searching online and have found I need to set the document properties to duplex.
    I have tried doing this; I right click on my document, select "document properties", go to the 'Advanced' tab. I can see "Duplex Mode" set to simplex but it is greyed out and I cannot change this.
    I find it unbelievable that I can't just print a document double sided - it's taken me half an hour to try and figure out how to do what should be a 20 second job.
    I am running Adobe Reader 11.0.09 on Windows 8.1 pro.

    There is no duplex option in the print dialog. From what I've read online the document prints as simplex or duplex depending on what the document properties are and they can't be set in the print dialog.
    If this is wrong and there is a way to select duplex from print dialog then I'd be happy to know about it - but all the information out there says even on versions where it is possible to set duplex in the print dialog the document properties override the printer settings.
    Like I said I haven't tried it because there is no option there. The only duplex setting I can find is in the document properties which I can't change.

  • Printing multiple double-sided Word documents results wrong side being used

    When printing from MS Word (Office 2004 11.2.5) several Word documents in rapid succession (so the first has not finished by the time the second has been received by the printer) in double-sided layout (as per the Print Dialog option) and the first document is an odd number of pages then instead of the final page of the first document being printed with stuff just on the first side it actually contains [incorrectly] the first page of the second document on the second side.
    That is -
    Document 1
    1-2 3-4 5-6 7
    Document 2
    1-2 3-4 5-6 7
    end up like
    1-2 3-4 5-6 7-1 2-3 4-5 6-7
    instead of
    1-2 3-4 5-6 7-blank 1-2 3-4 5-6 7-blank
    This happens when printing to both a HP Color LaserJet 4600DN (with built-in duplex unit) and a Konica-Minolta Magicolor 7300 (also with built-in duplex unit).
    The HP Color LaserJet has 160MB of RAM and a hard disk, the Konica-Minolta Magicolor has 256MB of RAM and no hard disk.
    Has anyone else seen this happen and does it happen in other programs (Microsoft being notorious for the number of bugs in Office for Mac they have).

    This sounds odd as each print job would exist as a separate spool file with its own job number. If it wasn't for both machines doing the same I would have said it was the printer. But as you have said Word is a rogue when it comes to printing (and man other things). In order to get the next document printing so quickly after the previous, do you have both documents open? Also, are you using the Print icon in Word, or goinf File > Print? If you are using the icon, then I would suggest trying File > Print (or Command P ) as I have seen some strange results when the icon is used.
    I have also seen the "Collated" option cause unwanted results. Try disabling this in the Copies & Pages menu of the Print Dialog (and maybe saving a Preset with it disabled so it can be defaulted to this).

    What drop down menu?
    What printer are you using?
    Does your printer support duplexing? If it doesn't you will have to print one side and feed the paper back into the printer to print the 2nd side.
    Why are you printing to US letter if you are in the UK?

  • How do I setup magazine to view pages consecutively, but print for double sided 11x17?

    I have a quarterly newsletter I've begun.  I set it up as (8) 11x17 pages with (2) 8-1/2" x 11" page views per 11x17 page, so that when they print double sided, there are consecutive. The problem is that when I am trying to navigate from page to page, they are not consecutive on the screen. Is there a way to set up the pages at 8-1/2" x 11" consecutively in InDesign, but send to printer for two sided 11x17 and have the pages come out in the right place?
    Not sure that I am describing properly. For instance viewing an 11x17 page (Page 1 as far as InDesign is concerned), the right half is Page 1, and the left half is page 16; or (page 2 in InDesign) is page 15 on the left side, and page 2 on the right side.  This all prints perfectly, but navigating it during layout is extremely cumbersome.  Also, printing for general public PDF viewing is impossible.

    LOL - That for sure I knew. I just didn't know what to do about it.  I checked Acrobat...but I never really noticed that "booklet" option before, and right now the magazine isn't setup right, so I can't tell if it's working.  will it know that page 1 and page 16 go on the same side of one 11x17 sheet, and pages 2 and 15 go on the other side of that same page when printing two-sided?

    how do i print double-sided spreads in a single-side printer?
    the print shops i work for(and myself of course) want me to print a makeshift of a book which i do using the print booklet option on 2-up spread, but they're consecutive and i haven't found any option to alternate spreads for single side printing. It'll all be ok if i had a double-sided printer so i'd use a driver setting and force doubleside on the printer itself, but without that option....
    is this possible or wasn't even considered?, because the other solution is to print spread by spread and manually feeding each page back which is totally unproductive....

    Like my answer of yesterday you can use the 2-up Consecutive feature of Print Booklet and enter you page numbers/order manually.

    Fisrt off all check if the paper tray is correctly on the unit, so take it of and replace it. Second go into printing preferances, select photo printing and find where you can select tha paper source, put it on phototray and try again.

  • Printing postcards double sided

    I wish to print postcards on both sides, just like a regular postcard. Color and front and black & white on back.
    I would prefer to print directly from iPhoto 6, but that is secondary as some photo printers come bundled with Mac software.
    Does anyone know which printers are suitable for this task please? As I will be printing individual cards, I don't mind manually turning the paper. I've not had much luck in stores or with my online research and I have not found anybody who understands why I would want to do this. I'm sure I'm not alone am I?

    You can get 4" x 6" Kodak Picture Paper for ink jet printers. It has soft gloss on both sides. Should work on any ink jet printer. I've printed many pics on this paper using an i960 Canon color printer. For a bit higher quality prints, I use 4" x 6" Canon Photo Paper Plus Glossy paper. It's slightly thicker than the Kodak paper, and has gloss on only one side (white on back). Most any brand of paper will work on any printer.
    FYI Here's the Postcard Standards:
    * Minimum Allowable Postcard Size: 3.5 x 5 Inches
    If the width is less than 5 inches or the height is less than 3.5 inches the USPS will NOT mail your postcard.
    * Maximum Allowable Postcard Size: 4.25 x 6 Inches
    If the width is greater than 6 inches or the height is greater than 4.25 inches, the postcard must be mailed as a letter, higher rate and all.
    * Minimum Thickness: .007 Inches
    Any mail less than the minimum is considered Non-Mailable and the USPS will NOT deliver it.
    * Maximum Thickness: .25 inches
    Exceeding the maximum puts the mail piece into a different mail class, called a Parcel.
    * Intermediate Sizes are Allowable
    A 4 x 5.5 inch postcard is mailable at the postcard rate. As long as a mail piece meets the size, thickness, weight and aspect ratio requirements above, it can be mailed as a postcard.
    * Minimum Thickness: .007 Inches
    * Maximum Thickness: .25 inches
    * Space reserved for USPS Barcode and Endorsements

  • Incorrect printing of double sided pages on Officejet Pro 8600

    When I print a document (generally from MS Word 2010) and ask it to be printed on both sides, the HP8600 gets it wrong!
    (I had the same problem with my previous Officejet 8500).  It prints page 1 on the first page BUT it prints page 2 on the next piece of paper on the same facing side as for page 1.  So the back of page 1 is blank!!  This is quite frustrating as I often want to print a long document on both sides of the paper and get the pages correct! So all the ODD pages are on the facing side and all the EVEN pages on the rear.  The 8600 doesn't do this, nor did the 8500.  I think when I print it using the Adobe reader and PDF documents it gets it correct.  So it may be an inter action between Word, and the HP 8600 driver etc...  Any ideas to correct this.  I have only had the printer just over 4 months.

    I am printing a booklet (designed in indesign). I have tried printing from Indesign, but there isn't an option to print on both sides.
