here's the dealio- my new core2duo doesn't want to communicate with my hp deskjet 832c. I was able to print through my ethernet network to a shared 832c once, and it did print right, but I can't do it again because whatever program I'm in when I try to select a shared printer crashes. That doesn't help with the usb connected printer on my machine though; the only good print I've been able to get is draft quality only in a word doc. My printer spits out tall distorted text, partial and blank pages etc. The new mac mini with the core2duo is doing the same thing with it's hp deskjet 840c.

Well Mactopians, it seems that my wife has solved this issue by downloading and installing HP's OSXInkjet driver ( even though we're using deskjets) when she visited the HP website. The wonders never cease.

Samsung CLP310 printer- printing word doc problem

i have had a Samsung CLP310 printer for a while and its worked perfectly, however, just recently it has not allowed me to print word.doc files , i have to convert them first to a pdf and then print.
Does anyone know if there has been a change to the driver or if i have downloaded a recent universal software upgrade that has mucked things up? Any advice well.

We have a similar problem with 2007 Excel files embedded in Autodesk Inventor 2008. The pdf preview will look fine, but the PDF file has the black box that you are talking about. Also happens when we print to a Xerox Phaser 7300. When we print to a "HP designjet 800" it will print fine. Does it has something to do with the Xerox printer driver???? We have all the latest updates we beleive? We started with Acrobat Adobe 8.1.1, a new install shouldn't have to install 8.0 first should it?

I was trying to install various "Atheros AR5007EG Wireless Network Adapter" drivers, with versions ranging from 2007 to 2010, both from the manufacturer and specifically for this computer (a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile) and others from here:

All of them are for Windows Vista 32bit.
The computer had previous drivers installed and working, but also had a network problem. In the process of figuring out what was causing it, I tried to install newer drivers to see if that was the problem. It turns out the network problem was due to a different
thing that is now fixed (some dependencies of the WLAN Configuration service were turned off), but I'm still stuck installing the new drivers.
TL;DR:
However, every time I install new drivers, after install, Windows says that
"The device instance name is invalid", regardless of what drivers I install. I even tried to install drivers for different hardware in that slot just to see what it told me and IT STILL gave me the same error. I also tried to uninstall the
current driver, checking the box to delete the driver's software, running CCleaner and then deleting
"athr.sys" from the Windows/Drivers folder and
"oem8.inf" from Windows/Inf as those files were referenced in the driver's properties. The install still gives me the same error.
The fact that it gives me this error with any driver leads me to believe it's Windows' fault and not the driver's.
Note: I am translating from the original in Portuguese. "The device instance name is invalid" is the closest/correct translation and seems about right with the info I find online regarding the english version of Vista and how it refers to devices.

I also did SFC /SCANNOW a while ago and it found no errors. I then repeated it again after this problem and this time, SFC found errors BUT it couldn't repair all of them. Here is the CBS log:

EDIT2:
The last SFC /scannow scan repaired everything left to repair. The system restore option can't be used because the earliest one still has the (suposedly faulty) drivers installed.
This computer has a Win Vista serial number, but no CD and the second partition doesn't have any kind of backup. The second partition is empty though. So, as a last resort, if I really don't have a choice, I'll try to do an upgrade install to see if that fixes
it and if that still doesn't fix it I'll have to move everything in the users folder to the second partition and format the first which is a bummer :/

I'm still trying to read into that setup.api.log file.

So, can I assume that the only way to fix this error is to download an iso of Windows Vista, unninstall my service packs, upgrade install Vista, run Vistalizator to change the language to Portuguese and then install Service Pack 1 & 2?
EDIT: Alright, so I formatted the thing since the driver bug wouldn't give me a break. The details on that can be found searching for the same thread title either on tomshardware or vistaforums if anyone happens to find this looking for the same error.
I have a real knack for bumping heads with errors that nobody else gets that somehow turn into unfixable bugs. At least if someone else searches for this problem they'll know what to do.

Notes App That Can Import Word Docs and Record Audio

I have Pages now which you can import Word docs to.
I have another app that can record audio and take notes, but you can't import documents.
Is there an app that does both? Import Word docs that I can edit and then also record audio at the same time?

Yes you can use Pages for Word documents and transfer the files as Word documents to iTunes and then to your desktop via file sharing. I use it. Frankly I haven't paid attention to any of the spell check features at all so I can't say for sure that it will work the way that you want it to work.
From everything that I have read about Pages v Documents to Go, I was under the impression that Docs to Go was the much better choice for all around compatibility with Word files. Actually, Pages has some issues going from Pages on the iPad to Pages on the Mac in terms of compatibility and formatting.

Printing a PDF file online with any OJ 100 printer,we receive unknown error light sequence.

When printing a PDF file online on all of our Officejet 100 Mobile L411 USB printers, we encounter an undocumented error light sequence. The error light sequence we encounter is Power light blinks in conjuction with the Bluetooth light then those 2 lights blink off and the Resume light and both cartridge lights blink on. then those three lights blink off and the power light and the Bluetooth light blink on again and so it goes. You cannot reset this error by any other means other than powering the printer down and the printer will not power down with the power button. The only way the printer will power down with the above flashing light sequence showing is to disconnect AC power and remove the battery.
With the above described flashing light sequence displayed, the printer has no problem continuing to print and will continue to print other documents with the flashing light seguence displayed.
If the above mentioned PDF file is saved off to the computer and then printed from there, it will print on this printer ok without starting the flashing light sequence described above so evidently there are control characters attached to the online PDF file that get stripped off when the document is saved. I don't know what those characters could be but I do know that only all of the Officejet 100 printers we have display this problem. We can print the same documents on our HP 470 mobile printers ok without any issues or have no problem printing the same document with other models of HP printers. It is only when printing this document with any HP Officejet 100 mobile L411 printer that we have this problem.
As mentioned above, the flashing light sequence described above is not a sequence described in the Operators Manual so we don't know what it means. Also it is apparent that the online document(s) we are printing have some control characters attached to them that are incompatible with this printer but we do not know what characters they are. Are there some settings that we can setup in the printers properties that would solve this issue for us?
As I have explained above, this particular flashing light seguence does not keep the printer from printing the online documents or any other documents succesfully, however this sequence cannot be reset by any other way other than killing all power to the printer.

Property Loader with Excel spreadsheet embedded into a Word doc

I know I can load test limits from an Excel doc using Property Loader but can I load test limits from an Excel table embedded in a Word document? Has anyone ever done this?

I looked into how this could be accomplished, and it doesn't look like it is possible using off the shelf methods. Please if anyone figures out how to do that, i would strongly encourage you to write a Community Example . I think your closest work around would be to have the excel document linked in the word document http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/word/HA101208101033.aspx . Unfortunately in this situation, the excel file is still seperate from the word doc, and anyone reading the word doc would have to open the excel through the link to view its contents. Also if you move the document, you have to remember to move or change the path of the link. What is your motivation behind having the Excel Spreadsheet in a word document? I agree it would be a novel Idea, but as of now when you copy the object into the word document, it gets encapsulated by the .doc or .docx, and there is no clean easy way I have found to abstract it out. I also looked into the potential of dynamically linking the excel spreadsheet and word document, so when you would update one...it would update the other automatically, unfortunately this functionality doesn't exist (that I could find). Sounds like a pretty good product suggestion for microsoft though ; ) Keep me updated if you find a better work-around.

Printer suddenty wont print Excel or Quickbooks but will print Word docs

Help!
My HP 6500 just decided to stop printing Excel, Quickbooks and Efax but WILL print Word documents and other files. When I hit "okay" ont he print menu the printer head goes back and forth but no ink comes out. Again, the weird thing is that Word docs are fine and print out.
I have downloaded the driver software twice and turned printer on and off and unplugged it from back of machine.

I see that your HP Deskjet 3050a will print an internet page but not any documents on Windows 7. I am sorry to hear this but happy to help!
How is the printer connected? Wireless or USB?
Are you able to make standalone copies with the printer? Copy Text or Mixed Documents.
In the meantime, I would recommend to try our HP Print and Scan Doctor, and let me know what happens!

Failure to print word docs

I am unable to print from a word doc. I was able to print a test page, can print from outlook and from HP web page. Any suggestions as to what the problem might be? My printer is a HP4400 all in one and I have windows XP home addition installed. Thanks

Can't print Word docs

Just switched from Windows XP to iMac and had all my hard drive docs, pics, etc. transfered. But I can't print any of the docs, only e-mails and pics. And I can't print pages from recently installed Final Draft. Why?
Also, why is the text on iMac so tiny, and how do I default enlarge it? Thanks.

Plus, you get (or at least you used to get) three licenses. These licenses are meant for non-pecuniary use only, however.
If you are a federal or state government employee or employed at an educational institution, the Apple webstore gives personal non-pecuniary use discount prices for people that fall into those categories, too (can't quote you a ballpark price estimate though).
But, NeoOffice has the best price, although I can't attest to true 100% compatibility with M$ Office in all situations. But even if it's not 100% true across-the-board compatibility, the cost verus risk ratio is hard to ignore.
It would appear that the trialware version of M$ Office is a crippleware product by design.

2620 prints word docs with missing text

I just purchased an offcejet 2620 and it will not print out my word documents correctly. There are missing lines of text and cannot figure out why. I am using a MacBook Air OSX 10.9.4 I need help please!

Printing Word docs sometimes output is messed up

I'm using Acrobat X Pro for the first time and Windows 7 64-bit with MS Word 2007.
Basically sometimes I can generate a PDF from Word with no problems at all using the base settings. Then suddenly one will show up all weird, almost like it is monochrome. It happens about 1 in 3 times I generate .docx to .pdf and is driving me crazy.
I have tried various settings, High Quality, Press etc. as well as changing Color settings and nothing seems to change. Also if a document ends up this way, it will be screwed up no matter how many times I try to generate it. It does not seem to matter what is in the document, but it must be something specific that is causing this. I have tried text files, docs with a lot of graphics and it seems to happen to any type of document...but only sometimes.
Now if I take a snapshot of the PDF, and put that copied portion back into Word, it looks fine.I tried that to add a small piece of the doc here so people could view it.
Any ideas?

Hi, thanks for the reply - what I am trying to do is PDF the document using the default settings in Acrobat as I usually do.I'm not using any strange fonts or colors and other documents using the exact same parameters are fine when generated.
I normally use the "Create PDF" option on the Acrobat tab in Word 2007. I have also tried using the Save as - Adobe PDF or the Print - Adobe PDF route and it gives the same result. I am using MS Word 2007 Ultimate - I have no idea if that is 32 or 64 bit, I would assume it is 64.
This is what the clip above should look like (and does in Word):
Now I normally do at least 2-3 PDFs a day at work and I have been having this problem for about a month now (since I moved to my current laptop, an old Dell)
I haven't come across this problem ever before so if you need any more info just let me know.

Print Word Doc to Acrobat 9.4.5 fails on 2nd printing

The oddest behavior is happening, any advice to trouble should would be greatly appreciated.
When I print a 133 page Word 2010 document with images, text boxes and text, etc. It prints to the distiller/virtual printer fine ONCE -- but then if I print again to the PDF distiller/virtual printer the text inside the text boxes won't print.
While troubleshooting and making sure all drivers, MS office, and Acrobat was up to date I discovered that after a restart the document prints fine. I also noticed while watching the print progress window that the bar moved slower on the first print job and almost twice as fast on the second job which subsequently had missing text inside the text boxes created by word 2010. I have checked all settings in word and it should print everything and does ONCE.
What gives, anyone?

Tcode IW32 and Printing Word Docs Attached to Equipment

This is my fist attempt to use SND so I am hoping for a fast reply that will get me to long on more often. Here goes.
I want to be able to print the word documents that are attached to an equipment that is used in the PM order. When the order is printed a SAP Script form is automatically output. I want to be able to print the documents attached to the equipment at the same time. Is that possible. I have tried the OLE classes but I get a short dump when I try to print the order through the menu Order->Print Order.
Any help would be appreciated.

Yes, its possible thru OLE, first, if not already done, you must in configuration, make it so that the printing happens in the foreground as opposed to the background, then in you print program, you need to retrieve the attached documents. Here is a routine that is working for us in production now.
This is the call of the subroutine, send thru the business object id, and the BO key, along with a flag
for print preview on/off.

Time machine freezes with any drive

I have tried everything - connecting several new drives, plugging it directly into the USB 3 port, taking it to the Apple store.

Are the drives formatted properly?
Drive Preparation
1. Open Disk Utility in your Utilities folder.
2. After DU loads select your hard drive (this is the entry with the mfgr.'s ID and size) from the left side list. Click on the Partition tab in the DU main window.
3. Under the Volume Scheme heading set the number of partitions from the drop down menu to one. Click on the Options button, set the partition scheme to GUID then click on the OK button. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Partition button and wait until the process has completed.
4. Select the volume you just created (this is the sub-entry under the drive entry) from the left side list. Click on the Erase tab in the DU main window.
5. Set the format type to Mac OS Extended (Journaled.) Click on the Security button, check the button for Zero Data and click on OK to return to the Erase window.
6. Click on the Erase button. The format process can take up to several hours depending upon the drive size.
