I can't put call on hold to answer incomming call, always hangs up on first call

The procedure is different, depending on whether your carrier uses CDMA or GSM. Consult the manual. gdgmacguy gives directions on how to find it in the post above.
Best of luck.

  • Is there a way to put an incoming 2nd call on hold without answering it while I finish my first call

Years ago I had a feature on a phone that when I was on one call and another call beeped in, I could just hit a button and it would put the second call on hold with a message that I was just finishing another call and to please hold. Then, when I finished with the first call, I just switch or hang up.
I am constantly losing calls because I can't get off the first one quick enough to answer the second call.
Maybe there is an app for that?

    Guys, guys... (sigh)
Now, let's be constructive, shall we...?
Malcolm, I see you live in a country even colder than mine, so maybe you're speaking from experience!
No, seriously, wjosten put it plainly: save from jailbreaking my phone, there doesn't seem to be a solution to my "problem". I'm not quite ready to jailbreak my phone yet, but I'm getting closer every day. I love that phone, but there are so many built-in limitations that I'm on the brink of doing it.
Now, this said, it would make for a nice improvement in future versions of the iPhone: let the user set one of the physical controls to take calls.
(As for buying those gloves you guys mention, I like my wool gloves just fine. Plus they're a gift from a loved one)

  • Skype Windows client hangs for the first call - co...

    Hi,
Skype on my Windows 8.1 (depending on its mood) hangs for the first call. It will keep ringing and ringing till it times out, during that time I am not able to hang up the call as well, the red hang up button doesnt work and we have to let the call go on till it drops on its own. Then on the second try it connects perfectly fine. This happens most of the times, there are only a few days where it connects on the first try otherwise its always the 2nd time.
Please let me know what could be the possible solution for this one?
    Thanks

  • Why my friend's iphone 5s is always busy on a first call and is ok on redial?

A friend of mine has an iphone 5s. Since a week back, all incoming calls to that phone on a first dial go busy ( "number busy" appears on the caller's phone) and on an immediate redial, the call is normal. We have tried this from a few different numbers and the problem persists. Is it a problem with the setting etc?
    Kindly advise.

my son had this problem.  I went to the apple store and they wiped out and restored the phone..  They said that was all they could do but that I should call our phone carrier and ask them.  I did.  They asked if in the top left side, next to battery power there was a icon of a half moon.  There was. They said to go in to settings and go to "Do not Disturb" and turn it off.  I did.....problem solved!!! Somehow "do not disturb" was turned on and that is what happens if it is!!
    I hope this helps.

  • HT1689 I have trouble when I am talking to someone and I have a another call coming in - I can answer the other call but in the process I loose the connection to the previous caller that I was talking to

I have trouble when I am talking to someone and I have a nother call coming in - I can answer the call but when I want to go back to the original caller I get disconneted

    From the iPhone User Manual:
Respond to a second incoming call:
Ignore the call and send it to voicemail: Tap Ignore.
Put the first call on hold and answer the new one: Tap Hold Call + Answer.
End the first call and answer the new one: When using a GSM network, tap End Call + Answer. With a CDMA network, tap End Call and when the second call rings back, tap Answer, or drag the slider if the phone is locked. If you’re on a FaceTime video call, you can either end the video call and answer the incoming call, or decline the incoming call.
Switch between calls: Tap Swap. The active call is put on hold. With CDMA, you can’t switch between calls if the second call was outgoing, but you can merge the calls. If you end the second call or the merged call, both calls are terminated.
Merge calls: Tap Merge Calls. With CDMA, you can’t merge calls if the second call was incoming.

  • IPhone 4s call waiting; how do I get back to the first call?

When I'm on a call and a second call comes in I tap "hold current call and answer." I get connected to the second call and the first call is put on hold. But when I am done with the second call, how do I get back to the first call? I can't find any way to get back to the call that is on hold. I usually end up hanging up on both calls. Not good.
Also, how do I switch back and forth between two calls? How do I put the second call on hold, go back to the first call to tell that person I must call them back, then return to the second call?

  • Calls Routed, Offered and answered showing different figures on the Call_type_Interval table

    Hi all
I am totally confused by so data that I am seeing for several call types on the Call_Type_Interval table. Our interval is set to 30 minutes
The issue confusing me is as follows (example):
I can see 679 calls offered (Call_Type_Interval.CallsOffered) but for the same interval I have 731 calls routed (Call_Type_Interval.CallsRouted) and 731 calls answered (Call_Type_Interval.CallsAnswered) .
Can anyone explain what is causing this. Why is calls offered less than calls routed and answered.
Any guidance that could be given would be extremely appreciated.
    Kind regards
    Stewart

    Hi,
could you please reveal more about your call routing? Is there any IVR involved? Queuing?
CallsOffered means within the specified half-hour interval this many calls has "gone through" the specified Call Type.
CallsAnswered means within the specified half-hour interval this many calls were answered after the specified Call Type. But this does not necessarily mean that all the calls that have been answered at this interval, had gone through the Call Type in the same interval. If, for instance, there's an IVR after the Call Type, or a prompt, that might insert enough time to have a call answering moment slip to the next interval.
CallsRouted: for this many calls the script execution terminated in the specified interval (but also this does not necessarily mean the call was answered or handled - all we know is that the script execution stopped).
In this case, in 731 cases the script execution stopped (Routed) simply because the agent answered (CallsAnswered) the call.
    I hope this makes sense.

  • Why poor WCF performance for first calls?

I'm seeing some weird WCF call timings that I can't explain, and it is causing some real issues in my application. My WCF service calls seem to be taking hundreds of milliseconds if not seconds longer than they should.
I've set up a simple SL5 project hosted in a web app project just to reduce the variables, and I still see terrible timings.
I've got a very simple WCF service call, and I'm using ClientBase to instantiate the service instance, then I'm calling the service in a tight loop 30 times (asynchronously).
The problem is that the first handful of calls take extremely long, according to the IE F12 tools. I'm seeing network times of between 500ms and 2000ms. After that, all of the service call times drop down below 100 ms. The problem for me is that,
when I am just calling the service once in an application, I am seeing these initial delays, meaning every time I call the service it tends to take a really long time. I only did the tight loop test to see if things get better over time, which they do.
I would imagine it is doing something like establishing the initial channels, and that is what is taking the hit, and then calls after that just reuse them, but is there anyway to reduce that initial hit? Adding tons of extra time to each of my
calls in the real app is killing my performance.
Here is a screenshot of F12 with the call results. You can see the first bunch of calls take an extremely long time, then everything gets nice and quick after:
Here is the calling code in the test app:
    Private Sub TestWcfClientBase()
    Dim client = ServicesCommon.GetService()
    client.Proxy.BeginGetCurrentUser((AddressOf OnGetUserCompletedCommon), Nothing)

    Hi ChrisMikeC,
Based on your description and config file, it seems that you host your WCF Service in IIS and you try to consume this WCF Service in a SL5 project, if I do not misunderstand you, in my mind when we are hosting our WCF service in IIS, there is a high
cost for the first call. On the first call to our WCF service, IIS must compile our service. Then IIS must construct and start the service host, so it will be slow in the first call. For more information about how to improve the time for the first call, please
    try to refer to
this article. Meanwhile please try to host your WCF Service in Windows Activation Services or Windows Service in where you will have greater control on the service host startup.
Besides, since your SL5 project hosted in a web app, then in my mind ASP.NET applications always takes longer in first call because it includes JIT compilation step, and ocne the code is compiled, all the calls thereafter are faster than first one, so please
try to use the Console application or a Windows Forms appliction to test if the time can be slow down.

    Amy Peng

    Hello.
When I switch between calls, how can I put some music to the person that is wainting.
I have a N70. And, frequently when I have a call somebody calls me. What I use to do is to put one of then in hold while I'm finishing one of the calls.
I would like to put music playing to the person that is wainting/ is holding the call.
    Is it possible?
    Marco

I don't think it's possible to keep sending audio while a call is on Hold.
So I don't think you can do that.

  • Iphone hanging up on calls or putting them on hold

I thought the touchscreen was deactivated during calls, but my wife's iPhone keeps hanging up or putting calls on hold when it touches her cheek while on a call.
Anyone else have this problem or any tips?

    Just to add.
Ride1992 asked about the case blocking because that is the most common issue.
If the iPhone is in a case (poorly designed, or if you are using a iPhone 3G in a case made for the original iPhone) then there is a good chance the sensor(s) is blocked (even partially).
Could also be a bad screen protector.
In either case, if the sensor(s) gets blocked, it cannot detect when it is brought up to the face thus not turn off the screen. It could also do the reverse that the instant you answer it turns off the screen because it thinks it is at your face and when you bring it away it will stay off.
If you are using a case (or screen protector) remove it and see if it continues. If the problem is fixed, that is your issue.
If you are not using either or if once removed it still has a problem, could be a bad sensor and you can make an Appt to have it looked at.
To add about the iPhone 3G in an case made for original iPhone. The 3G version has 2 sensors. The original iPhone had 1
So many cases for the original were designed to only make sure the one it had back then stayed clear. If you put the 3G in an old case, it will block the new extra sensor the 3G has.

Typically you have a codec or media resource issue to track down.  IE, MTP, region, location, gateway trunk to trunk to call or something in that area.   Bypass UCCX and do the same call without this app... does it happen with a normal call?
