I can't sync a document created in pages on ipad 3 to my imac

Please could someone help me. I have created a document in pages which I am trying to sync via itunes on my imac and it doesn't show as being successful. I have followed the instructions to a T but nothing is appearing.
I have all the latest software installed on the ipad 3, imac and itunes.

Are yo using file sharing or simply syncing? You have to use file sharing.
Launch Pages on the iPad. Open the document that you want to send to the Mac. Tap the wrench icon in the upper right. Select - Send to iTunes. Choose the file format in the pop up window.
Connect the iPad to the Mac and launch iTunes. Select the iPad on the left under devices. Click on the Apps Tab in iTunes on the right and scroll down to File sharing Apps. Click on Pages in the file sharing apps window. Your document should appear in the window to the right. Drag the document to the desktop or click on the Save to button and save the file to wherever you want on the Mac.

Only Pages, Preview, Pages for iCloud beta, and Pages v2 or later on IOS 7 can open native Pages v5.2.2 (.pages) documents. Sending a Pages v5.2.2 document to someone without Pages v5.2.2 is futile.
If you are using Gmail or Dropbox, you will need to right-click on that Pages document, and then choose compress from the contextual menu. You can then attach filename.pages.zip, because it appears as a single document, and not a folder.
Pages v5.2.2 has a Share button on the Toolbar. Providing your document is already in iCloud storage, you can Send a Link to iCloud via the following:
The Share toolbar icon also allows you to Send a Copy to Email, Messages, and AirDrop. This will present you with the document export sheet, the same one you get if you chose to File > Export To menu item, as the alternative.
If you are sharing document content with an MS Office user, then the document you want to send them is either a Word .docx, or .doc. If they want just a read-only view of your content, send a PDF, for improved cross-platform exchange.

Document created in Pages on iPad

I created a document in Pages last night, which is quite a long story bu when I opened my iPad this morning I was unable to open this document. I have quite a few documents that I created in Pages and checked that they all opened properly, which they did, all except for one document, which i had also created in Pages. Does anybody have any suggestions as to how I can opene these two documents as they are my novels that I do not have copies of anywhere else.
I would be grateful for any help with this.

Hi Thank you for your reply. I do have Pages syncing with iCloud. i have tried your suggestion on my PC but I get a message telling me I need a newer version of Pages to access the document. I have also tried switching my iPad on and off to see if that helps but it didn't.

Same problem here (no graphics in header or footer) and the problem has been reported months ago. It is another bug/feature lost when Apple moves from 09 to the iCloud-compatible versions. Complain to Apple, you may have better chance than me and they may finally listen to their users....

Can't open documents created in Pages with macBook pro running maverick

Hello,
I just bought the new MacBook Pro and downloaded iWork. Now when I create a document in Pages and save it to Documents, I can't open it. I get an error messages saying a file is missing. Also, all my old documents created with Pages that I transfered from my old MacBook won't open. It says file too old, need to save to Pages 09.
Tried opening the old documents in Pages 08 and saving them, but still can't open them.
Any suggestions?

Further to my earlier post about this problem, our IT man came in to the office, by coincidence, so I grabbed him and it seems that he has cracked it.
You need to proceed as follows :
Select the document by single click on the icon (i.e. select it but don't double click which will try to open it.)
Go to File Menu and chose "Get Info"
Half way down the drop down menu, chose "Open with" then select Pages 4.0 (i.e. the iWorks 9 version)
This process will open that particular iWorks 8 document.
But, if you also tick the "Change All" box it means that opening with the new version of Pages will become the default and will apply to all iWork 8 documents so you should not need to bother with this ever again.
So far, that seems to work.
(One might have thought it would have been a good idea for Apple to have built this in as a default ?)

I would like to be able to sync my Pages documents on all my devices. However, one of my devices uses a different Apple ID (my work one). Is there any way to get Pages to sync the documents created with the first ID onto the device with the second ID, or vice versa?

No, they have to be using the same iCloud account (ID) in order to use iCloud to sync them across your devices.

You should be able to Save as: iWork 08, but i don't know how it works on Mountain Lion. On my Snow Leopard the Save as window has a part looking like this

A few general trouble shooting tips that may apply here:
1. If you used Software Update to do the OS update(s) to reach 10.6.7, go to http://support.apple.com/downloads/ and download and apply the Mac OS v10.6.7 Combo Updater. The Combo Updater contains some fixes that were not included in the incremental updaters used by Software Update.
1a. Check that you have the current version of Pages (and of the other iWork applications) installed. All three applications' current version numbers end in .0.5
2. A common cause of malfunctioning applications is a corrupted preferences file (.plist file). Your Pages '09's plist is at yourname > Library > Preferences > com.apple.iWork.pages.plist
Quit Pages, locate the file and Drag it to the Desktop (or to the Trash).
Restart Pages and attempt to open one of the files.
If all is well, Trash the plist file and empty the Trash.
If there's no change, AND you've made changes to the Preferences that you wish to keep, drag the file back to its previous location, replacing any new one that has been created.

The short answer is:
Single click on the document you created in Classic, bring up your 'popup' menu (right click or control-click), select 'Open With' and choose the Mac OS X application you believe will open the document.
If this does not work. Tell us which Classic application you created the document with and which applications you have which you believe will open your 'classic' document.

iwork for ios accepts for upload and also happily opens all your Microsoft office files, from Office97 standard doc/xls/ppt to the 2011 versions of docx,xlsx,pptx and various other of these format extensions.
Notice : the upload feature in www.icloud.com is only active if you in fact own these apps on your iPhone/Pad/pod. it is not a feature of iWork for the Mac ( iwork09 ) which itself is not icloud capable at all.

Document created in Pages 06 will no longer open with it!

I have a document created in Pages 06. I have the trial version of Pages 08, but it's run out of it's trial period. I just opened the document briefly to read it, and 08 opened it. I wanted to see it in 06, as I needed to change it and save it, but, once closed, if I try to open it with version 2, I get a message saying it needs a newer version to open it! Get Info makes it appear that I can open it with version 2 by selecting that, but in the end, I get the same error message. It's looking like I'm being forced into upgrading here! Any help? P.S. In Get Info window, I see that version 3 is marked "default." Perhaps if there were a way to change that, I'd be OK. But "changing all" in that same window does not fix the problem.

It would appear that you saved that document at least once with Pages 3/'08. Unless you marked the box to save in iWork '06 format, it will save in the current version. Changing would require opening it in Pages 3 & saving as iWork '06.

Pages ’09 v4.3 and Pages v5.2.2 are entirely different document architectures. Consequently, copying and pasting a table from Pages ’09 circumvents the customary translation process that would occur if you opened that Pages ’09 document in Pages v5.
Make a backup copy of the Pages ’09 document that has the table in it, and then open this document in Pages v5.2.2. The table is translated into Pages v5 document format and displayed correctly. You can even select this Pages v5.2.2 table, and then copy/paste it into another Pages v5.2.2 document with accurate results.
