Considering moving to the Creative Cloud but have an important question...

I'm considering moving to the Creative Cloud but have some concerns. if, for example, after spending 1500+ over the next three years on the Creative Cloud and by then, presumably at version CS9 or CS10, will I be able to continue using the CS9 or CS10 products as I would have, had I bought the retail software?
I know if I continue to simply buy upgrades to retail items and stop at CS9 I will be able to use those products forever so I am not seeing the incentive here if that is the case.
Your confirmation is much appreciated so that I can move on to decide on my next steps.

No. It's an all-or-nothing exit policy at the moment.
When you stop paying your monthly fee, you lose all access to Adobe software (unless you already own a pre-Cloud version which you can fall back on).
Many requests have been made to relax the exit policy and permit users to perhaps pay a residual fee to keep using whichever version is current when they leave the Cloud. But that hasn't yet been offered by Adobe. Personally I don't expect it to ever be offered.
PS how much will you spend on the retail versions over the next three years given that you must upgrade with every new version under Adobe's new upgrade policy introduced with the CS6 cycle? i.e you can no longer skip a version and still qualify for upgrade pricing next version.
Licensing issues aside, in effect, you never really "own" the software if you want to stay current. Both Cloud and retail are now effectively subscription models.
The choice really boils down to upfront $$ vs monthly $$.

The primary incentive is full access to the entire Master Collection for a low monthly fee. Don't have to outlay thousands of dollars upfront.
You also get:
additional Cloud services (host up to 5 websites etc)
multi-platform licenses (activate on Win/Win, Mac/Mac or Win/Mac for the same monthly fee. Retail items are single platform only)
early access to new software features for Cloud members only. As soon as Adobe finishes writing and testing the code, Cloud members get it. Retail users must wait for CS6.5 or CS7. Depends if living on the bleeding edge of Adobe software interests you. As we all know, change is the only constant these days.

Just sign in with your Adobe ID at the Creative Cloud Files page at https://creative.adobe.com/files. You can then use the upload button to upload files, or drag-and-drop files from the Windows Explorer/Mac Finder. I'm just downloaded the creative cloud installer. Double click on the install file, it starts the installation and after only a few seconds it stops and nothing happens. What is going on?

I am having the same problem. Sorry I don't know an answer but would love help too.
I'm on a Mac - OSX10.9.3
Downloaded installer which opened to the point that I had the icon in my toolbar but it seemed to get stuck at that point - about 7 hours of scrolling "update cycle" (swirly thing in middle of the empty CC window) but no App tab or other tabs - just a white rectangle with scrolling.
So I tried un-installing, deleted all files, downloaded again but now I get the same as Scrapnick - installer launches with task bar at "Initializing Installer" which lasts only about 2 seconds, then flicks to "Dowloading Creative Cloud desktop" at which point the task bar & the installer window close.
I hope someone can help us with this...

I have tried logging on with my adobe id connected to the account i bought creative cloud and it still asks me for lience number which i dont have since i bought creative cloud.

Welcome to Adobe Forum,
1.If you have Creative Cloud for Team, then you you need to accept the invite.
2. In case it is Individual CC, please check if there are any Adobe entries in host file
windows: C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc (open host with note pad)
Mac:go\goto\etc\host
In case you find any Adobe entries, delete all the Adobe entries & save the new Host file in etc folder.
Next relaunch CC.

My entire screen display on the creative cloud programs are blurry (not just the picture, everything) help?

I'm on a Mac book Pro I've recently purchased, and I've just purchased and downloaded the creating cloud suite CS6 and I'm horrified to discover that the entire screen display on each of the programs in blurry! the text around the edges are hard to read and of course that means when I bring a picture in or put up some text its all blurry too, its impossible to work. Please help I'm a student and can't afford this.

In CS6 only Photoshop and Illustrator have Retina support after installing the respective updates. Otherwise you have to live with it.

Where is Encore with the Creative Cloud? It is not in the list of 'apps' to download.

As the subject says, there is no link in my App manager at all for Encore. I thought it was a part of the CC or am I mistaken. Thanks.

Well, downloading and installing the desktop client isn't enough... Open the CC client on your computer, click 'Apps' and click the blue install-button next to the programs you want.
When it's done installing, it will notify you and start installing the next program you selected. And then...Where do you normally have your apps on your computer?
If you're on a Mac: Applications... They are right there. Or hold command+space bar (spotlight search), enter the name of the app, like 'Photoshop'
If you're on Windows: Startmenu > Adobe CC > Photoshop CC

I am getting the Download Error on the Creative Cloud Apps Panel. No Apps Showing

I have tried all the various methods to resolve this issue with the Creative Cloud App.
1. Deleteing the Files in the Library Folder
2. Installing Adobe Application Manager 8 (Not Installing at all)
3. Reinstall Everything
Nothing is resolving the error on the App.
I can do everything else with the app but not installing products.

I'm a subscriber of the Creative Cloud and have been for quite a while
Why do I now have to buy Acrobat when it's always been available as one of the CC apps?
And why did the "trial" version of Acrobat DC wipe out my personal Acrobat Pro XI?

Can't download cc apps. They won't show up on the creative cloud app.

After several problems trying to install the Creative cloud app I finally got it to install after booting into safe mode. Now that CC is installed when I click on the tabs application tab it doesn't work. I also tried downloading it from the website which just prompts the creative cloud app and then it keeps loading on the application tab.

Really sorry for the experience that you had with the Creative Cloud Desktop Application . Can I please request you to try the following Kb article and suggest if this works for you or not .

If you are able to get the Applications populated in the Apps tab and the problem seems to be with the download , can I please request you to share a screen shot of the error message so that we can proceed in the same direction.
