I cannot get iWeb to work properly

I am trying to create a blog using iWeb. However, I can only create a homepage (to the left, there's a red dot and I have managed to name to homepage). Here comes the problem. I am not getting any further. It is impossibly to do the first step which is add a page. "New website" and "New page" are impossible to click on since they are light grey and not even an option to click on. I have been trying over a dozen times to get a blog started but no luck so far. What is wrong? I have a mac. account. I don't get any window up with pre-made designs to choose from... nothing!

Good tips! I also couldn't get iWeb to work (I knew that months ago just messing with it I had totally screwed it up and never fixed it). The time came yesterday when I decided I really wanted to use it and was stuck with everything grayed out and couldn't do a thing.
I tried all of the tips posted by Kabing. Tricking it with iphoto didn't cut it. I had to resort to the clean install. I trashed everything iWeb related and used the recovery disks to reinstall only iWeb. It worked like a charm and iWeb is back in action.

Cannot get network to work properly on fresh install

I just got myself a new lenovo laptop and naturally wanted to instakll arch on it immediately.
The network I am on requires me to register the MAC address of the machine before I can access anything more than our intranet. Since this is done via a website, that is obviously difficult to do with arch, so I ran a mandriva livecd first to register it.
Quirk number one: I set up a new partition table and installed arch with grub. somehow one of these things actually changed my MAC address because I needed to reregister it and I could tell there it was a new one registered.
However, booting into arch again and I still can't get it to work properly. pinging our intranet address works fine, but I can't get to the www and so cannot install any new packages.
I've installed mandriva on a separate partition and here it all works fine. So the problem seems to be with Arch. My uneducated guess is that it somehow registers as having a different MAC address in arch, which of course creates a bit of a catch-22 because I can't install the packages needed to go to our intranet website and fix it (I should note - once I re-registered my mac address after creating a new partition table, I could complete a net-install of arch. but no internet access having booted into it).
Anyone know how I can fix this?

Cannot get Premultiplied to work properly

I have rendered out a PNG image sequence from the 3d modeling application daz3d Carrara. The PNG files are 8 bit and the Carrara settings is "premultiplied". When importing thse into the Sony Vegas video NLE, all is fine when I set the property to premultiplied. In After Effects, however, I cannot get it correct. I have switched between Straight and Premultiplied, but it does not work. You can see the difference here, both PNG images are overlayed another image:

You definitely have something screwy going on in your Carrara settings. And you are rendering a Straight Alpha, not a Premultiplied one.
If you invert the alpha in the Interpret Footage dialog box, you'll be able to see your cone:
Here's how it may look by default:

And here's the result:
Now you see that your light is getting embedded into your alpha channel somehow, just not how you want it, or it's not getting embedded into your RGB channels properly. You need to adjust some settings in Carrara.
Also, you should try to avoid using .png as your still image sequence file format of choice. The way it handles alphas can be...substandard sometimes.

Creative x-fi xtreme audio. I cannot get it to work properly... Asio4all with no sound

I cannot record or do anything. No sound at all for some reason. Originally it was telling me that I would be using windows audio and so I switched to Asio drivers. I couldn't get any sound before and I can't now. I'm so confused..

Well, several things to try.
First, shut down any other software that might be using the sound card. This means things like Windows sounds, Windows Media Player, Real Player, etc. etc.
Second, in Audition, go to Edit/Audio Hardware Setup. Make sure the tick box beside "Release ASIO Driver in Background" is NOT ticked.
Third, make sure Asio4All is selected as the default driver in the appropriate drop down menu.
Fourth, select the sound card input(s) and output(s) you want to use for the sound input and monitoring. Don't forget you have separate menus for this for Edit View and Multitrack View depending where you're recording--there are selection tabs at the top of the Audio Hardware Setup screen.
Fifth,, I've never used the sound card you have but, if it's like most Creative stuff, you'll have a sound card menu and mixer you can access from an icon in the bottom right hand corner of your screen. Right click this and select the input(s) you want. You may have to do this first to get the right inputs to show up on your AA Audio Hardware Setup screen.
Finally, if you're recording in Multitrack view, you may have to select the appropriate inputs in each track you want to use--that's the menu beside the right-pointing arrow at the beginning of each track.
Once you have everything working, you can save your settings as a default session so you don't have to do this every time.

Cannot get Wireless to work

I have a brand new W520 for my company and we cannot get wireless to work. Here is what I tried.
Clean install of Windows 7 Professional
Installed the ThinkVantage tools, including Access Connections.
Installed the drivers from the Lenvo Support site. Had to install manually as Lenovo System Update would not return anything for me to install, even when I had a ton of missing drivers.
Installed the ThinkPad Wireless LAN drivers for the wireless card in my system. I have the ThinkPad b/g/n card.
No wireless adapter is found for the wireless, just the Intel 82579LM Gigabit Network Connection which works fine for the wired connection.
The wireless radio is on. I flipped the switch mutliple times. The screen seems to flicker when I flip it but nothing happens.
ThinkVantage Access Connections says "No supported wireless adapters are installed on the system" when I click "Manage Wireless Radio".
I verified the card is seated properly and the connections are all tight.
I ran a PC Doctor scan (from boot disk) against the wireless card and it Passed.
In Device Manager I have two items remaining that show issues.
Base System Device
Network Controller
I can't seem to resolve those two items in device manager with any of the drivers I've found on the Lenovo support site.
Any suggestions?

Check in the BIOS whether it's enabled, F1 to enter the BIOS, it should be under Config -> Networks.
Also, can you let us know what does the sticker on the card say? Does it say Intel Wimax 5150 or 5350?

Thanks for the suggestion, Chris. I actually did not resolve the issue which is why i did not post an answer.
it turns out that my iphone seems to default to an incorrect User ID (it defaults to an @me account, which is not something that i have ever used).
even when i change the User ID in my settings for the iTunes store, it still appears when i attempt to get updates for my existing apps. however, it does seem to use the correct ID when i attempt to purchase new apps.
If someone actually had an answer to correct this, i would love to update my existing apps.

This is a known problem with Windows 7 Enterprise using certain Group Policy settings. Solution for me was to use another machine running Windows 7 Ultimate.

Don't use Multiple Speakers option and just choose the AppleTV
What are you trying to Airplay? If it's iTunes content it's simpler to 'pull' the stream from the Computers icson on AppleTV by selecting the libarry and media.
If you are attempting to Airplay the desktop you can't.

See for yourself which version of ACR is needed for that camera’s RAW files

then check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
Your version of Photoshop does not support that version of ACR.
You could use the free DNG Converter.

So in Disk Utility, with the external harddrive selected, go to the Partition tab, and then under "Partition Layout:" select 1 Partition.
After than, verify that it is formatting the drive as "Mac OS Extended (Journaled) under "Partition Information"
Also verify that it's using using the GUID Partition Map under the Options button at the lower left of this window.
Then click apply and confirm that you want to format the drive. It will ask you if you're sure, and probably for an Administrator password.
Once your harddrive is formatted properly, you should be able to use Time Machine, or any other Mac backup software.
