I cannot open my iphoto application. The minute I double click on the icon I get the rainbow which spins forever. I've used Applejack to repair the hd, but even that didn't work. I've getting into iphoto preferences..can't. Help!

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

Cannot open tiffs, jpegs etc. in CS by double clicking

Cannot double click to open files in CS. I have CS4 and CS6 on same machine. Supposedly this should be fine. I am running OSX.8.3 Mountain lion. I have already cleared the PS prefs for both versions. I have run the disk utility permissions etc. Sometimes running it will solve the problem temporarily but then I cannot open them again. Also, have done the right click, get info window to change all to open with CS4. It automatically turns the selection to CS6 like there is a conflict. Very frustrating to not be able to open with a double click. And I cannot do an open with. I physically have to open CS4 or CS6, and point to the file to open it. This is becoming challenging and a time waster. Any info would be a help. Serious answers only. Thanks.

Bridge could be the culprit. It usually is set to auto-start on boot and could be over riding your OSX associations. Check Bridge CS6 Preferences > File Type Associations and next to each File type jpg,tiff,etc choose the version of Photoshop you want to open it in. Make sure Bridge CS4 agrees as well.
If you do not see Photoshop CS4 in the list, the bottom choice is Browse... Use that to go to the Photoshop CS4.app file.

Your iTunes is up to date for your OS X.
iTunes 11 requires in intel mac running OS X 10.6.8 or later. If your computer is compatible you will need to purchase Snow Leopard upgrade from Apple store.

I pretty much stated it in my question. I dropped my iPad and now it won't boot itself up. The apple symbol shows up, then the screen turns all black and weird looking with a strange green color at the bottom, and just turns off. It keeps doing this over and over. What happened and is there a way to fix it? I also tried connecting it to itunes and that doesn't seem to be working. It detects an ipad but can't seem to read anything else. It tells me to try and restore it but I can't. HELP!!!

Try this. It worked for a few users after a drop.
Turn the iPad over and give it a very HARD slap on the back. May take several slaps.

Updated DIVX now Firefox doesn't show/stream video at all. This has happened previously and had to re-install but that didn't work this time. Anyone help please?

This only happens when I update DIVX and only affects Firefox. The previous occasions when thiss happened I had to re-install the web player for Firefox, but even that hasn't worked.
I had been watching video stream fine prior to update and it is fine in IE6.
On webpage, vid box shows until play clicked then just a blank space where it should be.

Have you tried exporting a 10 second section of the footage to see if the issue shows up once the seqeunce is actually exported from the timeline. I edit on CS5 with windows 7 pro at work quite often and have no issues so I assure you that isn't the issue. I also edit with AVCHD footage when at home and work quite freqeuntly as well so I'm positive that isn't the issue. It sounds like a GPU driver has been corrupted in the way it interacts with premiere pro. What type of GPU do you have? If it supports MPE's GPU acceleration have you tried turning it off and seeing if that makes any difference?
Anyways though try to export a 10 second test section of your timeline to see if when the clip is exported from premiere it will play normally in windows media player or vlc or w/e media player you want to use. If it exports fine then you can almost be positive it's a corrupted video card driver. If that's the case I'd re-install your GPU's driver and also check your gpu makers website to see if they have a updated driver avaiable.

Can't Open Files Or Folders By Double Clicking on Its Icon

I'm unable to open any file or folder by double clicking on its icon whether the icon is on my desktop or in a folder.
For example, I can't open my hard disk or any DMG file on desktop by double clicking on its desktop icon, but I can open it or any file or folder by control-clicking on the icon and then clicking on 'open'.
In my Finder, If I double click on an item in 'list' I can open it and in' columns' if I double click on an icon in 'preview' it will open/ launch and in 'cover flow' if I select an icon and double click on it there the file will open/launch.
I've repaired permissions, 'verified disk' in Disk Utility (no problems found),
run Disk Warrior as well as Applejack but the problem persists.... I just can't open by double clicking.
Anyone have any ideas?

Pretty weird...but I think I've heard of it before. I have no direct answer, but when weird stuff like this happens, I think of trying things like:
-boot from OSX DVD and check operation
-Time Machine backup
-Safe Boot - might correct something
-log out of user account and/or log into another user account, and see if doubleclick returns
-and the usual SMC/PRAM reset
I'm assuming you've diddled with the mouse/trackpad settings. Did you try a mouse?

Make a temporary, backup copy (if you don't already have a backup copy) of the library and apply the two fixes below in order as needed:
Fix #1
Launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
Select the options identified in the screenshot.
Fix #2
Using iPhoto Library Manager to Rebuild Your iPhoto Library
Download iPhoto Library Manager and launch.
Click on the Add Library button, navigate to your Home/Pictures folder and select your iPhoto Library folder.
Now that the library is listed in the left hand pane of iPLM, click on your library and go to the File ➙ Rebuild Library menu option
In the next window name the new library and select the location you want it to be placed.
Click on the Create button.
Note: This creates a new library based on the LIbraryData.xml file in the library and will recover Events, Albums, keywords, titles and comments but not books, calendars or slideshows. The original library will be left untouched for further attempts at fixing the problem or in case the rebuilt library is not satisfactory.

HT203167 I found my media files. How do I get them back into my itunes library. I have tried :add to library" and copy & paste but that didn't work.

I was able to fix mine. I went to software update and updated a few things. I did not update everything, but only what I thought were the essentials, which I believe was Safari, a security update, and a firmware update.
Then I deleted and reinstalled Itunes yet another time. Now the itunes store is back up again.

Hi Susie, I use Norton 360 and have the latest Firefox 8 installed is working fine for me.
