I cannot put any of my itunes library on my new iPad

This is a match/icloud issue.  I bought a new ipad mini for personal use as well as to play music in my fitness classes.  I did not buy a cellular capable ipad and I do not have wifi access at every gym I teach at.  So I need my device to actually hold the music I've spent a lot of time and money accumulating.
I have tried turning off iTunes Match, deleting icloud from the ipad... I get the same thing everytime.  When in iTunes and the ipad is selected, when I go to "music", it says, "iTunes Match is on" and "iPad mini can access music in iCloud.  Songs can be downloaded and played via Wi-Fi or a cellular network."
And in summary, where you can normally change manual/automatic settings, the only thing associated with music is to "sync only checked songs and videos"
I understand the idea behind iCloud, and even though I live in the bay area with many wi-fi hot spots, wi-fi does not exist everywhere I want to take my ipad.  And I do not want another monthly bill to access my music (which I wouldn't feel that I could rely on anyways).
HELP!  And I would love to know if this is an issue on the new iPods too.

I was able to turn off match on the ipad itself... I think it may work now...

  • How do i link my existing itunes library to my new ipad

how do ilink my old itunes library to my new ipad air

If you're moving from PC to PC then perhaps Windows Easy Transfer is the tool for you, although I'd still recommend you look at method 1 from my earlier link. If you don't have a backup strategy now then it is time you got one. Hard drives can and do fail without warning. All your personal data should be on at least two if not three separate disks to avoid disappointment.

  • I cant view my itunes library on my new ipad 2 even yhough it's syncronised. It just doesnt show the library on the ipad2

I just got a new ipad 2, trying to syncronise my pc itunes library but it doesnt show on the ipad. Home sharing is swiched on and on the pc it shows that ipad contains over 100 songs, but I cant access them on the ipad. Anyone know how can I fix this? Oh, and I dont know anything about apple, thats my first one ever, so it might be something very simple that I just know about. Thanks

Check your preferences under the music tab for your device in iTunes.

  • I ve got a macBook with two different users. My husband wants to have all the music (our CDs which I copied to my user itunes library) on his new ipad which is registered on his name with itunes. But it does not work. Can we and if how have the same music

    See question above in title.

There is no "adding" a device.  Simply plug the iDevice into the computer.  iTunes should automatically detect the device when it is connected.
iTunes can sync/manage as many iDevices as you want... there is no 1 device limit.

  • I updated my ipod on my computer to the ios 5 and it updated but all of the music, movies, and apps were cleared off. I cannot put any of it back on please help! :(

I updated my ipod on my computer to the ios 5.1.1 and it updated but all of the music, movies, and apps were cleared off. I cannot put any of it back on please help!

Go to iTunea>Preferences>Devices and see if there is a backupright at the time you did the update. Then try restoring from that backup. If the apps are in your iTunes library, any app data will be restored to the iPod.
When restoring from an iOS 4 (or later) backup, if the device had a passcode set, iTunes will ask if you want to set a passcode (and remind you that you had protected your device with a passcode). iTunes will not ask you to set a passcode when restoring from iOS 3.x and prior backups.
Therefore, remembe the passcode that you enter this time.
It appears that if you restore from a backup, that backup is not subseqyently overwritten by the next backup.

For information about the Other category in the Storage display, see this support article. If the Storage display seems to be inaccurate, try rebuilding the Spotlight index.
Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
    iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then restart the computer. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown as  Backups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Ask for instructions in that case.
See this support article for some simple ways to free up storage space.
You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) or GrandPerspective (GP) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one. Note that ODS only works with OS X 10.8 or later. If you're running an older OS version, use GP.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS or GP can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
    Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install the app you downloaded in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the corresponding line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:
    sudo /Applications/OmniDiskSweeper.app/Contents/MacOS/OmniDiskSweeper
    sudo /Applications/GrandPerspective.app/Contents/MacOS/GrandPerspective
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing command-V. You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size. It may take a few minutes for the app to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with the app, quit it and also quit Terminal.

  • Cannot Add Any Music to iTunes Windows 8

I just got a brand new computer with Windows 8. I moved everything that was on my previous laptop to this one, including all of my music, books, and videos. I just downloaded the newest version of iTunes, and it will not add any music to my library. My library is always empty and has the buttons to go the the iTunes Store and/or Scan For Music. I cannot add any files to the library. After I click on the file that I want to add, nothing happens. I can't even transfer my previously purchased music from my iPad to my library. Again, nothing happens. The only thing I have been able to transfer were my books that were on my iPad. No music, no apps, no videos. This is my second day working on this problem. I have used iTunes for years and have always been able to find a solution. I have already uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes twice, selected myself as administrator on the computer, troubleshooted compatibility issues, and tried multiple diagnostic runs. If someone could help me find a way to fix this, I would be very grateful.
    Thanks in advance.

Use Windows to go to your folders and find one of the problem files.  Right-click it, and choose Open With > iTunes.  If the file is compatible with iTunes, it will be added to the library and start playing.  If nothing happens, the file is incompatible.

  • Any fix to iTunes music turning off when iPad 1 put onto charging stand?

Any fix to iTunes music turning off when iPad 1 put onto charging stand?

Ok, I found a solution that worked for me when trying to connect to the iTunes store by tapping the "update" button in the "App Store" app on my iPad 2. Before the solution was implemented I'd always get the error message "cannot connect to iTunes store". Once the solution was implemented I now can connect to iTunes using the "update" button in the "App Store" app and I get the normal message "All apps are up to date". The solution is this:  go into Settings, then General, then scroll to the bottom where it says Date and Time. Tap Date and Time and then turn OFF Set Automatically. When you do that a new option will be added that says Set Date and Time. Tap it. You'll now get a drop down feature. Set the Date AHEAD 2 YEARS. The Time you can leave alone.
Once you do that you might get a bunch of reminders and messages that your apps and stuff haven't been updated in two years. Click cancel or close on each of those messages or reminders. Now go back into Settings, General, Date and Time, and turn Set Automatically back to ON. Reboot your iPad. Open the App Store app again and go to the Update button. It might ask you to log back in to your iTunes account. It should now work. If not, close the App Store app completely and open again and try the update button. Hope this helps.

  • I cannot download my old itunes library to my new ipod - please help!!!!

Unfortunately in August 2006 someone nicked my Ipod mini - thanks! So my insurance co. replaced it with an ipod nano. I've installed the new software disk that came with my ipod nano and hooked up with the old itunes library to my new ipod nano. Simple huh? Not likely. It says I have too many tunes in my itunes library to download to my new ipod. However the mini and nano are both the same size -4G so why now is it telling my I have too many songs to download to my ipod nano? I have even deselected some from the library but no luck. My old ipod mini was not full to capacity anyway? any ideas?
It could be that my current pc is not logged to the internet - AOL fault currently being sorted but surely that should not stop me updating my ipod? The tunes are in the library the new 4g ipod (allbeit a nano and not a mini as was) is connected yet the **** thing says I have too many tunes selcted to download WHEN I KNOW I DONT! Help......... please does anyone have a clue where i'm going wrong its driving my nuts!

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone. The iPhone only accepts transfers from the original iTunes PC.

I have moved my iTunes library to a new Windows 7 PC and cannot transfer music from the new iTunes PC to my iPhone 4S. The iPhone will only accept music transfers from the original iTunes PC. I have come to understand that an iPhone can have only one "daddy" iTunes PC, but have not been able to find out how to change the "daddy". I have done a backup of the iPhone, and a "Restore to Original Settings". Then I restored the content using the new iTunes PC. My Apps and contacts, etc. are back on the iPhone, but it still won't accept music from the new iTunes PC.

What happens when you try to sync the iphone to the new computer?

  • I have copied my iTunes library onto a new computer, but when I play back the songs there seems to be random "miss" or "drop out".  No probs with old computer, just the new one.  I'm onto my third new computer - same problem.  Any suggestions please?

I have copied my iTunes library onto a new computer, but when I play back the songs using the new computer, there seems to be random "miss" or "drop out" during play back, similar to a small scratch on a vinyl record.  Although when I play the same song over again, the "miss" occurs in a different location during the song.  No probs with old computer, just the new one.  I'm onto my third new computer - same problem.  Any suggestions please?

You don't say which version of iTunes you are using, but the symptoms you describe have been encountered by some users with the 64-bit version of iTunes 12.1.
There is an alternative version for 64-bit editions of Windows here:
iTunes 12.1 for Windows (64-bit — for older video cards)
that seems to address the most of the playback issues that some users have been reporting with the full 64-bit version of 12.1.0.77 - including problems with Bluetooth speakers where either sound is degraded or completely absent.  The alternative installer here is the same architecture as most previous "64-bit" versions of iTunes, i.e., a 32-bit application with a 64-bit installer.  The "for older video cards" label appears to be something of a misnomer as some people have reported that this corrects problems found on current / high-spec systems.
Some users have reported that after installing this alternative version it is necessary to adjust the "Play audio using" selection (normally to "Direct Sound" rather than "Windows Audio Session", though this may vary based on your audio hardware/drivers) in Edit > Preferences > Playback to restore glitch-free audio (one part of the reported symptoms is that the "Direct Sound" choice isn't available, usually in Windows 8).  It may also be necessary to ensure that your Bluetooth speakers are active and selected as the default audio device before you run iTunes.
If this doesn't address the issue, you may want to think about reverting to iTunes 12.0 - see Turingtest2's notes on Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates for steps needed to completely remove all installed iTunes components, and for links to the 12.0 installers.
