I cannot sync Outlook 2011 through VPN after Yosemite upgrade

I use TunnelBlick/Open VPN to connect to my work's Exchange server on my early 2011 Macbook Pro. After upgrading to Yosemite I am no longer able to sync my mail through the VPN connection.
The VPN connects with no problems (I'm able to access my files on our server) but Outlook will not connect to the Exchange server and sync.  However, when I connect through LAN cable in the office Outlook will sync with no problems.

Thank you.  I tried this but unfortunately it didn't work -- I received a message from TunnelBlick that the computer was unable to connect to the internet after making this change.
Prior to this issue I also was unable to use my wi-fi at all after upgrading to Yosemite - I found a solution online where I deleted some files from the SystemConfiguration folder. Wi-fi works perfectly now but this issue with VPN and Outlook remains.
It seems this Yosemite roll-out has created many, many issues ...

  • No email in Outlook 2011 for mac since yosemite upgrade

I installed yosemite 10.10.2 two days ago and cant get my gmail anymore. Using Outlook for mac 2011, ver 14.2.7 and gmail.
Called microsoft, they created new identity but now I can only see what has come in the last 2 days, All other history, drafts, sent , inboxes no longer appear. Went back to the old identity but now will not be able to get gmail from now on. I dont have original disks or key (ex has them). Microsoft wants me to buy new office for mac. This is crazy. I have had nothing but probs with Yosemite and now I have to pay microsoft to even get my old emails imported to my new outlook identity. Does anyone have any other suggestions for this mac-loving grandmother on social security? And...why wouldnt level 2 tech support know anything about this incompatibility issue after all this time? It's not like i haven't asked at least 20  times what changes/problems/issues/incompatibilities would occur if I upgraded. (I lost past 8 years of all imovie projects during the upgrade! had to reinstall Iphoto, etc etc
If I have posted this in the wrong place, I couldnt find any imac, yosemite, outlook boards., so I do apologize. Any help out there?

Few days back I was facing the same issue. I looked online and found support.microsoft.com/kb/2360509. Tried the steps provided without ay positive outcomes. I also found http://www.officeformachelp.com/2012/05/how-to-recover-your-data-when-rebuilding -restoring-and-upgrading-fails/ and tried the steps again but wasn't able to gain much. I looked further into this and found http://www.officeformachelp.com/outlook/database/. I came to know that outlook stores messages in olk14 message files. I searched online for olk14 message recovery and voila the solution was right there. Now all my data is there recovered in one place and I also have transferred it into Apple Mail.

Try these in order testing your system after each to see if it's back to normal:
    1. a. Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM
        b. Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC)
    2. Restart the computer in Safe Mode, then restart again, normally. If this doesn't help, then:
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the
COMMAND and R keys until the Utilities menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the
computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager
screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
    3. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu. Select Restart from the Apple menu.
    4. Reinstall Yosemite: Reboot from the Recovery HD. Select Reinstall OS X from the Utilities menu, and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.
    5. Reinstall Yosemite from Scratch:
Be sure you backup your files to an external drive or second internal drive because the following procedure will remove everything from the hard drive.
How to Clean Install OS X Yosemite
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible
because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • Dual Display on Mac Pro (2011) not recognized after Yosemite Upgrade

I have  Mini Displayport-to-HDMI adapter that used to work fine until I upgraded to Yosemite (now running 10.10.2).  Now during boot up the main display flashes looking like it 'notices' the 1080 display resolution then quickly ignores it and the HDMI output is not recognized in the System Preferences Display window.  This Mac Pro has two Mini Displayport ports and both behave similarly.
The main display powered through the DVI port works fine
    Any suggestions to resolve ?

Not sure how critical your dual display is to your work life, but if it is you may want to consider using a Matrox product. Google it and search their site for "DualHead2Go" adaptor. I've used their stuff since 2008 when I bought my MacBook Pro. Their software is always kept up to date with the latest Mac OS. I have been VERY pleased over the years. Food for thought if you can't get your current system to function properly.

  • Outlook search much slower after Yosemite upgrade

Since I upgraded to OS 10.10, my Outlook mail searches are much slower.  I believe Outlook uses Spotlight for this search functionality.  Has anyone else had this experience?  Thanks!

I'm having exactly the same problem, currently rebuilding the main spotlight index (System Preferences > Spotlight > Privacy - add them remove the install HDD). I'll report back if that helps but from what I'm seeing as it rebuilds, it's the same issue you are having, it will return results from really old identities but nothing recent.

  • Mavericks sync Outlook 2011

    Hi
Since mountain lion i was able to sync office 2011 (Outlook) with iCal and Address Book from OS X.
But now, with Mavericks, i config exactly the same, but don´t work, nothing happens.
    Can someone advise?

    1. Apple has removed sync services in OS X Mavericks. Therefore, you cannot sync Outlook 2011 with Contacts or Calendar.
    2. Apple has removed the ability to sync through iTunes in OS X Mavericks, so that, even if you use Contacts and Calendar on the Mac, you can only sync them with your iPhone through iCloud, thus exposing all your contacts and calendar information to the mercies of the Web.
    3. Microsoft does not not support CalDAV and CardDAV in Outlook, so there is no way to sync directly through iCloud, except perhaps by setting up a Microsoft Exchange account.
    4. Apple makes it extremely difficult (virtually impossible) to revert to a version of OSX that is earlier than OS X Mavericks once Mavericks is installed.
In short, we are screwed and neither company seems to care.

  • Any solution to syncing Outlook 2011 all the way to iCloud.

Is there any solution to syncing Outlook 2011 all the way to iCloud.
I have read tons of posts and have tried the different ideas in there but I haven't found a solution yet.
I can successfully get Outlook 2011 to sync with iCal.  That is no problem.
When I activate iCloud all the iCal entries merge with iCloud and show up on iCloud.   Again everything seems great.
However, my new calendar entries in Outlook 2011 no longer sync over to iCal.  From what I understand this is because Outlook 2011 wants to sync with iCal "on my mac" calendar and when iCloud is activated "on my mac" calendars are removed from iCal.
Has anyone come up with the solution to this problem.  If so I would be in your debt if you would share it.
If not I just need to know so I can cut bait on using iCloud as a way to get my Outlook 2011 info onto my iPhone 4S.
    Thanks for the help!
    Chris

Can I sync Outlook 2011 with Apple contacts in the latest Mavericks like I used to do in OSX 10.8.5?

I might suggest you send links to download the attachments via DropBox or other similar source rather than include in an email.
    Example:  https://www.dropbox.com/s/vqyrdv4zblhjt7o/ShowLibraryMavericks.png
Have you looked at adding the attachements at the end of the message. Under Edit in the Mail Menu bar select Attachments.
Attachment Tamer might be worth a look but attachements are always going to be in the body part of the message.

  • Mac Mini (Mid-2011 Core i7) Slow after Yosemite Upgrade

I've searched the other "slow after Yosemite upgrade" threads but those seem to relate to Core Duo 2 machines with less RAM.  I have a Core i7 MM w/ 8GB of RAM, after the Yosemite upgrade it constantly lags, I can barely type on it these days because the text lags so badly.  It's unusable to say the least.  Is there anything I can do to speed it up?  There must be a reason why the performance is so bad.

When you see a beachball cursor or the slowness is especially bad, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
These instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad and start typing the name.
The title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
              View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Scroll back to the time you noted above.
Select the messages entered from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat, whichever comes first.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of it useless for solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Please don't post screenshots of log messages—post the text.
Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
