I cannot update iphoto

I am having trouble updating my brand new macbook pro! I was able to update the software (OS X 10.8.2), but I am unable to update iphoto and imovie. It continues to tell me that the apps were downloaded under another name and to sign in that name to download the updates. THe problem is, I just received this computer new and have no other apple id! PLEASE HELP!!

I've seen some cases like your problem here, so I think it's a common problem. In the past, Apple gave a DVD with iLife applications and they were installed, so you didn't have to worry about this, but now, you have to download them in the App Store

  • I cannot update IPhoto or IMovie- Error message from App Store

    Hi there-
I cannot update IPhoto or IMovie. I have the latest OS. I cannot use these Apps either- they both ask me to update to the newest version, but when I try to I get an error message saying that the App store could not complete my request and to please try again later (null). Any ideas??

Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
    Select
    /var/log ▹ appstore.log
from the hierarchical list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
    View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar. Then select the messages from the last installation or update attempt, starting from the time when you initiated it. If you're not sure when that was, click the Clear Display button in the toolbar of the Console window and then try the installation again.
Copy the messages to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
If there are runs of repeated messages, post only one example of each. Don’t post many repetitions of the same message.
When posting a log extract, be selective. Don't post more than is requested.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Edit it out by search-and-replace in a text editor before posting.

  • My iPhoto will not work with Yosemite, and it says that it was purchased under a different account, but that's not the case.  Any ideas why I cannot update iPhoto?

my iPhoto will not work with Yosemite, and it says that it was purchased under a different account, but that's not the case.  Any ideas why I cannot update iPhoto?

How did you buy iPhoto? Did it come preinstalled on your computer with Lion or later, or did it come with Snowleopard on system installer disks?
    Which version of iPhoto?
If you have a version of iPhoto '11 and it is showing on the Purchased tab of the App Store, with your Apple ID, then delete iPhoto from the Applications folder  (don't empty the Trash) and download iPhoto again from the Purchased tab.
If that does not work, contact The App Store Support  from the Quick Links on the AppStore main page.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks cannot update iPhoto or iMovie

Update Unavailable with This Apple ID - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled.
I've browsed through the support communities and found numerous reports of this problem, but no consistant resolution.
Both iPhoto and iMovie came installed on my MacBook Pro (purchased Dec. 2010). Consequently, they were not purchased using an Apple ID.
I'm not sure about iMovie, but iPhoto has been updated in the 3+ years I have had this computer.
I just downloaded, and installed iPhoto 9.4.3 from the Apple website with no problem, but cannot update to 9.5.1.

Tried download next day and it was working normally. It must need a day to catch up.

  • Cannot update iPhoto...

I have iPhoto 8.1.2, and I cannot update it because on apple's website, the next update is 9.1, but in order to install that update I have to have iPhoto 9.0 and above. Does anyone know how I can bypass iPhoto 9.0 or how I can download an update for it? Because I don't see that update on the apple website.

Download the current iPhoto version from the Mac App Store.

  • Cannot Update iPhoto, ask's me to log into account that purchased.

I cannot update my iphoto 9.4 or my imovie in app store. When I press update it requests for me to ' To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it.' however this is the account I used to purchase it.
I am not sure what to do. I have tried re-logging in but to no avail.

Contact App Store support. There's a link on the right hand side of the App Store Window. They're the only ones who can sort out account issues.

  • Cannot update iPhoto after upgrading to Yosemite

I have a Macbook Pro which I upgraded to Yosemite but now I cannot access iPhoto because it says I need to upgrade. The problem is that it won't let me upgrade because it says that it was either bought by a different user (I am the only user of this computer) or the item was refunded or cancelled. None of these are applicable. What can I do?

In that case you'll need to contact the App Store support personnel via this website:  http://www.apple.com/support/mac/app-store/

    Hi
The iCloud says we have to update iPhoto to 9.4, but on the app store it shows as no update available for the iPhoto 9.3.2 that I have installed on my mac.

  • I cannot run iPhoto after update to Yosemite.  I cannot update iPhoto because the application store does not have any iPhoto update available.  Anyone can advice how to overcome this hassle?

After update to Yosemite 10.10.3 the iPhoto program icon is banned and there is an error message that an update is required to run iPhoto, but the application store shows a message that iPhoto does not have any update available at this time.  There is not even any iPhoto program available on the application store.  Any suggestion on how to solve this annoyance?

Unfortunately, Apple has removed both iPhoto and Aperture from the Mac App Store so they cannot be downloaded anymore. This means you are forced to migrate to Photos (included in OS X 10.10.3) or, if this app does not include features you need, look for a different app.
Not true. Apple has removed both Apps from App Store so you cannot buy them anymore. But if you have any of these Apps already purchased in the past, then you can still download them on your Mac.

Open App Store, sign in with your Apple ID and go to Purchases tab. If you see iPhoto app listed there close down the App Store and do this steps as this is what worked for me:
Open Finder and go to Applications folder.
    Locate iPhoto app
Drag iPhoto app from your Applications folder to Trash (NOTE: Do not emptied Trash yet)
Open App Store app and navigate to Purchases tab.
Click on Install button which is next to the iPhoto app (on the right hand side).
Once iPhoto is downloaded again, test it if its working for you. If all is ok, you can remove your Trash.

  • I cannot update iphoto after installing Mavericks

I updated to Mavericks and now the app store is saying I have an update for iphoto. I cannot get the update, I am getting this error message " failed to verify preflight file. It is not signed by apple".  Is there spmethign that I am missing? I tried to donload the update 9.4.3 and when I attempt to install the update I am getting a message that says iphoto has to be updated through the app store. Any ideas ?

I solved this problem from a post I read on another thread (can't remember how I got there).  Here are the steps that fixed it for me:
    Close App Store
Go to Keychain Access, Preferences, Certificates tab
Change the OCSP and CRL to "best attempt"
Exit Preferences and then Keychain access
Restart (this may not be necessary, but it the next step I took)
Launch App Store, Purchases, Click on the one that would not install before - good luck
For me, it was iPhoto and iMovie, but I later discovered that no app would download, even new ones from under "Featured".  I also updraded a Mac Pro last night with Mavericks and it did not have this problem.  In checking later, I discovered that these preferences were already set as described above.

  • HT1338 After upgrading from Lion to Mountain Lion I cannot update iPhoto, iMovie and GarageBand

    Hi all
On my iMac 27 (2011) I see that these updates are available but clicking on "Update all" gives me  the error message "These apps cannot be accepted on this computer. Future updates will be available through "Software Updates"" Any idea?
I can, however, download apps from the app store. That works.
    Appreciate your ideas.

  • I cannot update iPhoto or iMovie.

Another email address is coming up in faint text at the login page and I cannot type my apple id in.  All other updates are performing, just iPhoto and iMovies
Have reset my apple id and also looked to see if APE or other third party software installed but can't see anything.

Please take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
Follow the directions in this support article.
    Step 2
Associate your Apple ID with your user account. Then sign in to the App Store with the same ID.
    Step 3
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Caches/com.apple.appstore/adoption.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
    Services ▹ Reveal
from the contextual menu.* A folder may open with a file named "adoption.plist" selected. If it does, move the file to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator password. Log out, log back in, and test.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combinationcommand-C. In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar, paste into the box that opens (command-V). You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    Step 4
Contact Mac App Store Customer Service.

  • Cannot update iphoto 11 software

Checking for software updates and find iphoto 11 update available.  However, the app store will not allow access to update the software.  Is there a fix?

Yes, Software update says that " We could not complete your request.  There was an error in the App Store. Please try again later. (4)
I've been trying for 4 days, with the same response.  Other Software Updates are being downloaded ok.  However,  the update for iphoto 11 cannot be updated.

  • After upgrading to Mavericks I cannot update iPhoto and iMovie. Why?

Just got my first Mac, an iMac. I upgraded to Maverick and once done I find there are updates available for iPhoto and iMovie. First I have tried to register "accept" the two apps. Nothing happens. Then I try to update them and get the answer that these apps was installed with another Apple ID. The thing is that I don't have any other Apple ID and noone else has touched my iMac. I have tried to reinstall Maverick three times now but end up with the same result. Anyone who has any clue or have experienced the same problem?

Open System Preferences > Users & Groups then select the Password tab.
Make sure you see the correct Apple ID.
    If not, click Change.
Make sure you are logged into your admin account before updating apps.
Reinstalling Mavericks requires using OS X Recovery  but there's no reason to reinstall Mavericks just to update your apps.
