I cant drag and drop music from my library to my iPod how do i?

I cant drag and drop music if i do nothing happens i have so much music downloaded and i cant put them all on my iPod i need help please

Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any other media like apps or photos sync to the iPod now?

Well what a nightmare..... brought a new laptop with Windows 8...... installed itunes....... couldnt find the menu or anything on there, there was no left hand column where all the lists or anything so i deleted everything (big mistake) off my phone to start again, added a heap of music to itunes but couldnt see it anywhere, finally found the music and menu so i added a couple of playlists but all of a sudden this stopped and i can only add the music to my playlists on my iphone as it wont let me drag and drop in itunes...... im so confused cos my other itunes on my other laptop does everything..... You can quickly toggle the sidebar on by choosing View > Show Sidebar. You'll then have a familiar view:
As for drag & drop, it sounds like you previously had your iPhone setup for manually managing music and videos. You may want to make sure it is still configured this way:

I have an iPod nano which s loaded with music from a pc. My wife is trying to put the music from the nano onto her Mac laptop. It will not allow her to drag and drop music from the nano to iTunes. How can we get the music from the nano onto her mac laptop

You're dealing with two different Apple ID's so that won't work and according to Apple, they cannot be consolidated.

Since i have my ipod i have always dragged and dropped music from my itunes library onto my ipod but now every time i open itunes it tries to sync my whole library onto my ipod which i dont want, but now i cant drag nd drop onto it anymore , and there is a "lock" symbol beside the space that shows how much space is available on my ipod (such as the one that appears when on hold).

You can use a keyboard command to prevent your iPod auto-syncing with iTunes. While connecting the iPod to the computer on Windows with iTunes 7 installed hold down the Control and Alt keys (or Shift + Ctrl keys in older versions). This will stop the iPod from auto-syncing with iTunes and the iPod will appear in the source list. Wait until you are sure the iPod has mounted, and that it will not auto sync and then you can let the keys go. Grey text when you look at the content and lock symbol at the bottom of the screen simply shows that your iPod is set to automatically update. If you want to access your iPod directly, drag songs to it, play it through your iTunes, connect it to a second computer etc. you just need to change the update method to "Manually manage songs and videos" in the iPod Summary tab and click Apply. I have not found any article that has answered this question. They have come up with things like open the side bar and it will work, or you are using wrong format of music. Now this all happened when I upgraded to iTunes 10 and has not worked since and it worked fine before. Music format is correct, I have even gone as far as copying a file already in iTunes and trying to add it again. As soon as the files enters the frame of iTunes the music files icon the pointer is carrying turns into a circle with a slash through it.

Files I have tried adding are standard MP3, 256 kbps purchased AAC Audio file, MP3 converted by iTunes into a 256 or 320 kbps AAC Audio file. None can be draged and droped but all can added by going to File/Add File to Library... or File/Add Folder to Library...

I can add files and folders by doing number 2 above but can not doing number 1
I have gone as far as uninstalling iTunes and reinstalling per apple procedures below.

I had this problem on Windows 8.1.1 and iTunes 11.2.2.3
To resolve it from within Itunes I did : Edit, Preferences, Sharing.
I took the tick out of "Share my library on my local network"
Click OK.
Closed iTunes/
Reopened iTunes and I can drag and drop.
I went back into Edit, Preferences, Sharing and put the tick back and clicked OK.
Works fine now.

my brother recently updated to a newer version of itunes and i can no longer drag and drop music from my itunes to my iphone! ive tried everything that i know and nothing is working! i tried checking the 'manually manage music' box, but everytime i do that it asks me if i want to erase and sync and doesnt give me another option. When I attempt to drag and drop music from my itunes library to my iphone it no longer works.
I've performed a factory restore on my phone and uninstalled and reinstalled itunes to no avail.

I can create a playlist and tell the iphone to sync that playlist but this is not the way I want to do things. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Drag and Drop Music from Itunes to Desktop Not Working

So basically the title says it all. I am working on taking some of my music, converting it to a .mp3 formated file and dropping it to the desktop (was an AAC). But I get the sign that it is going to add it, but it never appears on the desktop. I have tried repairing permissions, shutting down, restarting, etc. but it does not appear to be working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Oh yea, also deleated prefrence files for iTunes, still no luck

I think you've misunderstood. What I mean was to drag a track from iTunes into a folder that is on your desktop as opposed to dragging directly to the desktop.
In any case, I guess you can try deleting your preferences from ~/Library/Preferences to see if that helps. There are three of them…

com.apple.iTunesHelper.plist
I would just drag them to your desktop so you can always put them back if it doesn't work. Saves having to redo your settings. Oh yes, don't foget to quit iTunes before moving/deleting/replacing anything.

Hi B-rock, yes I have tried adding to library but still no luck. I am also up to date on the latest version on my iPhone and iPod.
I ended up burning the MP3's to a CD then transporting them to my iTunes when I inserted the CD into my PC!
This has only started happening since I updated!
