The error I see is you did not specify the proper authentication for the smtp server.
In the Mail preferences for the account, smtp popup, select Edit SMTP Server List. A sheet will drop down. Select Advanced tab on that sheet. You should, I assume, set the Authentication to password, and set the proper username and password. That's where the poper would be set if 587 is not the one you should be using. Maybe it is. I only bring it up since I see it trying to use port 587.
If you got this stuff already set correctly then I don't know. Mail has a problem in your setup. Maybe delete the account and recreate it from scratch.

I have just tried to update iTunes to the latest software and now I keep getting error messages. I have uninstalled and downloaded the latest version without any success. Any advice please?
Download the Windows Installer CleanUp utility from the following page (use one of the links under the "DOWNLOAD LOCATIONS" thingy on the Major Geeks page):

To install the utility, doubleclick the msicuu2.exe file you downloaded.
Now run the utility ("Start > All Programs > Windows Install Clean Up"). In the list of programs that appears in CleanUp, select any Bonjour entries and click "Remove", as per the following screenshot:
Quit out of CleanUp, restart the PC and try another install. Does it go through this time? -

Try this first.
Go to Settings>Safari>Clear History, Cookies and Data. Restart the iPad. Restart the iPad by holding down on the sleep button until the red slider appears and then slide to shut off. To power up hold the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and let go of the button.
If that doesn't work, reboot the iPad - or quit all apps and restart.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
Quit all apps completely and restart the iPad. Go to the home screen first by tapping the home button. Double tap the home button and the task bar will appear with all of your recent/open apps displayed at the bottom. Tap and hold down on any app icon until it begins to wiggle. Tap the minus sign in the upper left corner of the app that you want to close. Tap the home button or anywhere above the task bar. Restart the iPad. -
How can I get updates for Photoshop CS5 to download to my new Mac book pro where CS5 is already installed from my original disk? I have tried many times over 2 days. The Adobe auto updater is highly unreliable.
You need to look for and download the update yourself and then manually apply it as per the detailed instructions on the download page:

I already have a synch account but I don't care about any other device right now I just want to backup my settings on this computers browser right now. It's frustrating!I don't think that there is a function if Firefox for backing-up settings but you could note them all down if you're really serious about wanting to back it up.

Out Tech Support person, thought it had something to do with FF4 adding things to the address that do not belong. It is an in-house address with just a URL number.Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.

Can we erase 3.2.1 version and get the 3.1.0 back?
We did an erase and install due to freezing up....it was working fine, then we did the update to Safari 3.2.1 and it is freezing up (not just on safari though) - we want to try to go back to old version and entirely erase the newer one and see if that works. Is that possible without doing a entire "erase and install" again?
Yes you can. I've just done it- TWICE ! (Like an idiot I reinstalled 3.2.1 when the auto update came through.)
You'll need your original OS leopard OS disc. First you'll need to delete files including and related to Safari: Go to the Macintosh HD and to library folder. in there go to a folder caller receipts and remove anything related to Safari to trash (I should point out I didn't have anything but the Apple support guy told me to do this and moved on when there was nothing related to Safari there, but you might have something)
Go to your applications folder and drag the safari application to trash (do not delete at this stage) Open your home folder (looks like a house with your name on it) and drag the safari folder to trash (this contains plists and will be important to reinstall from later so don't delete yet!).
Insert your OS disc and open the mounted image. In there you will see a folder called optional installs below the install. Double click the pkg (open box) to open and select the applications arrow to see the list of applications to install. check safari and install.
If your bookmarks have been deleted (as mine were) open the safari folder in the trash and drag the bookmarks.plist to desktop. In the home folders safari folder, remove the new booklist to trash. Drag your old bookmark.plist from desktop to the folder you're replacing. reopen safari and you'll see you have Safari 3.1.2, nice and trouble free!
Just remember not to do the software update until they sort it out!
(I should mention I have no tech expertise, i'm simply relating what the apple support guy did for me and I noted down- sorry if it doesn't work for you!) -
I have three iPads and one iPod and one iPhone. How can I message between them without sending the message to all of them. You send the message to your email address but all of them are set up under one account.
You can have a different receiving email in the Messages app on each device : Settings > Messages > Receive At . I'm not sure that there is a different way to have the message only go to one device.

I hope the OP is not put off and for her benefit I will post this.
If you are looking for galleries and have an otherwise functioning ATV2 read no further.
If you are trying to get your unit to work because:
1) You have selected to send feedback to Apple and then wanted to key in your mobile me address and failed, or
2) Tried to set the iTunes store by using your me address, because they are the same, or
3) You are trying to set up home sharing using your mobile me address
then as part of the set up process you will, having keyed in your .me address and password, have got the message that your mobile me account can not be found.
If you look under the general section, you have the option to set time zone. If this shows Cupertino and you have selected either "automatic time setting" or keyed in another town not on Pacific ST and you are not in Cupertino then date and time have not set.
You can unplug the unit and leave for a few minutes, you can select to reset and restore. You can check that your router allows access to the necessary ports (typically 53, 80, 123, 443, 3689 and UDP 5353).
If your Apple TV on reset and opening the ports, still hangs at "setting date and time," then you are one of a group of people being blocked access for some reason that is not being shared openly - other than my comment above about server issues at Apple's end. This is not malicious but just repeating information posted on this and other fora. I can not confirm or deny, but when every other option has been discounted then only certain solutions remain.
I wish you luck in getting your ATV to work as it should.
PS I don't think cables are an issue here as you obviously are seeing something on the screen to see that you can't log in. -
My icloud account (OSX 10.7.5) receives my bt internet email account but i no longer want it to. I have deleted the bt account in preferences, but it still collects them. How do i stop it. Can you please help
iCloud cannot access other email accounts; there are two possible explanations for what is going on.
The first is that you set up forwarding from the BT account. If this is the case it's there that you would have to cancel it.
The second is that you set up collection from the BT account as a MobileMe subscriber before migrating to iCloud last year. Other people have found that in that situation the collection, irrationally, continues to operate and can't be cancelled because iCloud does not provide the facility.
In most cases it has stopped on its own eventually; but we are now a year on so if it hasn't you will need to contact iCloud Support. If you currently happen to have AppleCare, either because you recently bought Apple hardware or have paid to extend the inititial period, you can contact them here:

If you are not covered by AppleCare, then - in common with other free email services - there is no free support and you may be asked to pay a fee. As this is a problem they have caused you ought to be able to get their attention without paying anything. -
I use an iPod4 Touch and am using IOS 6.1.6. Frequently I will be asked to sign in to my Apple account, but it is using an email I don't use with Apple. How can I get this to stop? This is happening repeatedly throughout the day. I don't have an Apple password for this email address, nor do I want one!
Maybe an App that needs updating was purchased by that account?

Photos 10.10.3 will not let me play or move my videos and keeps sending a message saying "can not find file". What do I do to get the videos back? It is only during videos that I previously uploaded off my phone. It loads them and tells me how long they are but when I go to press play it says can not find file. I have restarted my computer, what else can I do?
Check the information on the song, Right-Click -> Get Info.
In the fist pane, (Summary), you will see the AppleId (Account Name) that was used to buy the song.
Be sure to login to use this account to register this computer to play the song
What I often see, Is that people have many different AppleID, sometime not even knowing it, which is a big problem. -
Since installing Mavericks on my MacBook Pro, I have many documents, but not all, that cannot be opened in either Pages 5 or in Pages '09. The names show in my document lists, but are greyed out. They do not show any extensions, but I'm sure at seast some of them are PDFs. As I cannot open them, I am unable to try to experiment with any solutions - I am not tech savvy, but can sometimes fix things by trial and error. I have no issues with sharing documents as I have no other devices. I just want to be able to open my saved documents! Also, the documents I can open have to be persistently coaxed to open to a point that it is extremely aggravating. I am not so happy with this recent "upgrade." Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
You use Finder to find stuff. It is what you use to look at where your files are kept and to rename, move or trash them. If you double click on a file in Finder it finds the right software to open it for you.
To open particular files you use the right software for each type. Usually, but not always, the software that made the file.
Pages opens files ending in .pages. Also .txt, .rtf, and doc.
Pages 5 is the latest (but certainly not the greatest) version of Pages. It has trouble opening all sorts of files including the older Pages '09 files but it will still do it.
Unfortunately Apple has chosen for Pages 5 to also save its files as exactly the same file extension .pages despite it being a different format that can not be opened by the older Pages '09.
As we all know Apple is wise and great beyond belief and would not do something that on the face of it looks extraordinarily stupid and shortsighted. Therefore we know that it must be our fault and we are not holding the software right. Because we are bad users, we must be punished, by either having to use Pages 5 or jump through hoops to avoid using Pages 5.
If you have installed Pages 5 any .pages file (old or new) will be opened by Pages 5. If you then save the file, Pages 5 will change the file format. So don't open your files with Pages 5 and don't save them if you do.
To stop Pages 5 opening and resaving your old files, you need to drag it to the trash and empty it.
When it is no longer around to annoy you, you can go back to using Pages 09.
