I check the send Crash Report box, but it automatically becomes un-checked. why?????

I check the Send Crash Report box, but it won't take... the next time I look, the box has become unchecked.

Do you have DELL Face Recognition ?
That software has been reported to cause this issue.
Start Firefox in <u>Safe Mode</u> to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).

Staying signed in at iCloud.com is not a problem for me. Try resetting your browser or emptying its cache.

• "If you get this error while viewing a webpage, it means a plugin has crashed. You can send a crash report to Mozilla by clicking on Send crash report. " but why do I not get the button "Send crash report"?

This is the most recent upgrade to my Firefox version 3.6.8
Mozilla Firefox for Ubuntu canonical - 1.0
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.9.2.8) Gecko/20100723 Ubuntu/10.04 (lucid) Firefox/3.6.8
Since then, every web page that makes use of the Adobe Flash plugin shows me grey windows with the message "Adobe Flash plugin has crashed".
When I follow links telling me I can find out more I am taken to a Firefox Help page that shows an example of the same grey window with the same message. But there is a difference: directly under the "Adobe Flash plugin has crashed" message is shown a another message that says: "Send crash report". The Help page instructs me to click on that message because it is intended to be a link.
Unfortunately, on all the grey windows displayed to me on any site where this problem arises, no such message: "Send crash report" is present. So how can I send a crash report?!

You have the Ubuntu-specific build of Firefox - released as a package in the Ubuntu repository - and that has been built without including the crash reporter.
(So-called 'contributed builds' usually lack the updater - in the help menu - too, because they have their own updater.)

• Since the last upgrade, FF no longer runs on my laptop! I get the crash report box but it never restarts upon pressing that option. I can't try the safe mode or the other self-help options because no FF browser window opens.

FF worked fine before I accepted the latest update just a few days ago. My friend who lives far away said that she also has problems since the upgrade. When I click on the thumbnail to open FF no window opens, all I see is the crash report. Without the window I can't try the self-helps or give a crash ID (from what I understand from reading the options). None of the options in the crash report restore the browser. When I click on one, the box just pops right back up.
Other than general slowness of my system and some possible hacking which got someone into my paypal account this week, I've had no other computer issues. (I've changed my email address with PP & changed my email passwords in case someone is accessing my machine through my email...I'm not very computer literate...I don't believe this can happen, yet no other options were presented).
Because my friend also experienced this crash issue I think this is totally related to the upgrade & what ever it did to my computer such that FF no longer loads.
Please give me steps to fix this issue without FF running--all the self-help techniques seem to assume that I can run FF, get a browser window, utilize the links therein. I can't get a window open at all!

YAY!! I have Safe mode!!
um, now what?

Let's try a preferences reset: (Windows)
Press and hold Control - Shift - Alt immediately upon cold-starting Photoshop.  If you get the keys down quickly enough - and you have to be VERY quick - it will prompt you to confirm deletion of your established preferences, which will lead to them all being set to defaults.

• Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below

I have one computer that crash every time I start Firefox. Ocassionally the firefox window will appear for less than a second and then the Crash Report Window shows up; most times it goes right to Crash Report Window. Then it is for some reason unable to send the crash repor; it keeps looping back to the crash report. I've checked my modem and router are operating correctly; I have another computer that's working fine. I've run scan for Trojans, viruses and still see the problem. Any help would be very much appreciated as I'm stuck at this point. For what it's worth, Internet Explorer has the same problem, crashing upon opening.

Hello. I have a similar problem to the question of Ryan Vaught, (Firefox crashes upon open - won't send crash report; crash report info summarized below [MY] Firefox version: prior one to 3.6.7 Operating System: Windows XP Provessional). Mine is a bit different tho. Firefox seems to be crashing and my internet crashes right with it. When it does this, it also takes out some Win32 system .exe files. I too have ran AVG (Full Coverage /Purchased one) and then updated to Viper (Sunbelt Software) and it comes up clean of any viruses, etc. Once it crashes and I close Firefox, the crash report request comes up. When I hit send, it says it cannot be sent with no additional information as to why. I just updated Firefox to 3.6.7 and sure hope this helps, but it almost always happens when I am playing games that use flash. I can send a screenshot if you need it and feel free to edit my question if need be. I've checked my Viper settings and can get to all the websites so far trying to rule it out. Deleted my internet set up and then added it back as a new connection (hope that made sense), so I don't know who to be asking this question of, but hoping you may know the answer why I can't send the crash report. Whew! Sorry for the lengthy question/issue. Your help is greatly appreciated!! Carolyn Burnam

Same thing happens when i click restart.
No difference when i run it in Safe mode. And it won't let me create a new profile either. Is there anyway else i can extract my bookmarks? This is driving me crazy!

Did the crash reporter send any crash reports?<br />
You can see the crash reports in this folder:
"C:\Users\&lt;user&gt;\AppData\Roaming\Mozilla\Firefox\Crash Reports"
See: http://kb.mozillazine.org/Breakpad
See also Firefox crashes when you open it
Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problems.<br /><br />
See Basic Troubleshooting&#58; Make a new profile<br /><br />
There may be extensions and plugins installed by default in a new profile, so check that in "Tools > Add-ons > Extensions & Plugins"<br /><br />
If that new profile works then you can transfer some files from the old profile to that new profile (be careful not to copy corrupted files)<br /><br />
See http://kb.mozillazine.org/Transferring_data_to_a_new_profile_-_Firefox<br /><br />
If that still causes the same problem then do a clean reinstall and remove the Firefox program folder.
* Download a fresh Firefox copy from http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/all.html and save the file to the desktop.
* Uninstall your current Firefox version and remove the Firefox program folder before installing that copy of the Firefox installer.
* Don't remove personal data when uninstalling.
* It is important to delete the Firefox program folder to remove all the files and make sure that there are no problems with files that were leftover after uninstalling.
See:
* http://kb.mozillazine.org/Standard_diagnostic_-_Firefox#Clean_reinstall

• Firefox crashes on start up, won't go past crash report box

So I've just had my computer attacked by multiple trojans and viruses. I tried to use Firefox to get online to look for a specific way of deleting them. However the crash report box comes up, if I try to continue the a new crash report opens and keeps on opening.
I tried to submitted the crash report via the website but instead of letters and numbers, the code was just a small string of numbers.
I also tried reinstalling.

Your issue may be caused by Malware. You can run and update the following free antivirus software:
1. Malwarebytes (Free version) - http://www.malwarebytes.org
2. Spybot Search & Destroy - http://www.safer-networking.org
3.Spyware Terminator - http://www.spywareterminator.com
In addition, there are a number of forums you can use to help get rid of your infection. These include:

To fix this problem, perform a clean install. This will not affect bookmarks, settings, or history.
# Hold down the Windows logo key and press R to bring up the Run dialog.
# Type %PROGRAMFILES% (or %PROGRAMFILES(x86)% on 64-bit Windows and press OK.
# Right click on the folder you installed the beta in and press Rename.
# Type in a new name, such as Old Firefox
# Press Yes to confirm the name change
# Install Firefox normally from

• I just downloaded Firefox 4 and I run Windows 7 Ultimate and it crashes before it loads up I double click the link and it brings up the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" everytime I try to start it.

Basically I downloaded Firefox 4 when it was a beta and now after it's been released and everytime I double click the shortcut or the direct link in the start menu and it shows my mouse with the loading icon and then it pops up the "Mozilla Crash Reporter" and I've submitted multiple reports and got nothing back and I now can't revert back to pre-4.0 Firefox to even just use it while the problem is rectified.

Your best bet would be to uninstall the BETA and install the actual release, instructions as follows.
* Go to Download Firefox 4.0 and download a fresh installation file to the desktop. If necessary, download the file with IE8 or 9, but choose to save it to your desktop when you see the prompt.
* Hit CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to bring up Task Manager, go to the Processes list and see if you can find firefox.exe running in there. If you do, right click it and choose "Kill Process".
* Then go to Add/Remove Programs, scroll down to Mozilla Firefox and remove it, choosing to keep your bookmarks, customizations etc., (don't checkmark the box).
* Then reboot and delete the folder called Mozilla Firefox at this location: C:\Program Files\Mozilla Firefox
* Finally run the installation file you downloaded to the desktop earlier.
If you prefer to install the previous secure version which is v3.6.16, use the following link, otherwise the procedure is the same: Download Firefox v3.6.16

• Starting Firefox I get the "Send Error Report" popup window. It states "firefox.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close."

This just started today. Everything seems fine. I just push the popup off to the side and continue to use the browser. If I were to click on the, "Send Error Report" or the "Don't Send" buttons then Firefox just closes!
Strangest thing yet, trying to figure it out!
Oh, I tried the reboot without add-ons! Even did the reinstall, still the same???

Just got back online, still working on things, BUT ???
I went back and dumped Norton's which I get for free from Comcast. I downloaded the AVG scanner. Went through all the bells & whistles and things seem ok ???? But I haven't done the reboot yet, so will do that soon. But I wanted to drop a line here and let you all know what is happening.
And Thanks Fred, the funny thing was it did seem to have something to do with their update??? I do like Norton's but my son uses this AVG and he said it was better, lol!!! But again, everyone has their favorite!
Mine is Norton's so once I confirm that everything is good, I'm going to try redoing Norton's and I'll try your suggestions, if they don't fix it!!
Thanks again, and will let you know if this is the fixed!!!
