I deleted a software and now I can't uninstall it

I got my Mac last year at Best Buy and they gave me a free trial code on a software called, Trend Micro. It basically helps you prevent from getting a virus on your Mac and all of that dangerous stuff. A couple of months ago while I was cleaning out my library on my Mac, I accidentally deleted the software. Now, I'm trying to find a way to uninstall the program but I can't do that since I deleted the file. At the very top of my Mac, where it has: the apple logo (for preferences, about this mac,  shut down, ect.), finder, file, edit, view, ect. To the very right if you own a Mac, you should know where there's a bluetooth logo and other things like that

An additional comment. First, "CleanMyMac" is a scam. Never install it for any reason.
Any third-party software that doesn't install by drag-and-drop into the Applications folder, and uninstall by drag-and-drop to the Trash, is a system modification.
Whenever you remove system modifications, they must be removed completely, and the only way to do that is to use the uninstallation tool, if any, provided by the developers, or to follow their instructions. If the software has been incompletely removed, you may have to re-download or even reinstall it in order to finish the job.
Here are some general guidelines to get you started. Suppose you want to remove something called “BrickMyMac” (a hypothetical example.) First, consult the product's Help menu, if there is one, for instructions. Finding none there, look on the developer's website, say www.brickmymac.com. (That may not be the actual name of the site; if necessary, search the Web for the product name.) If you don’t find anything on the website or in your search, contact the developer. While you're waiting for a response, download BrickMyMac.dmg and open it. There may be an application in there such as “Uninstall BrickMyMac.” If not, open “BrickMyMac.pkg” and look for an Uninstall button. The uninstaller might also be accessed by clicking the Customize button, if there is one.
Back up all data before making any changes.
You will generally have to restart the computer in order to complete an uninstallation. Until you do that, there may be no effect, or unpredictable effects.
If you can’t remove software in any other way, you’ll have to erase and install OS X. Never install any third-party software unless you're sure you know how to uninstall it; otherwise you may create problems that are very hard to solve.
Trying to remove complex system modifications by hunting for files by name often will not work and may make the problem worse. The same goes for "utilities" such as "AppCleaner" and the like that purport to remove software. Those "utilities" are worse than useless.

Look in the Applications folder to see if iPhoto is still there. If it is drag it back to the Finder Sidebar. If it is no longer in the Applications folder post back, you can also look in the Trash it might still be there.

  • I updated my iPod/iTunes software and now I can't get it to shuffle songs in a playlist; it either shuffles albums in a playlist or songs on the whole iPod

I updated my iPod/iTunes software and now I can't get it to shuffle songs in a playlist; it either shuffles albums in a playlist or songs on the whole iPod, neither of which is what I want to do.  How do I get it to shuffle songs in just one playlist?

The shuffle setting in the main menu will shuffle through the entire library as you have found out.
You need to go to settings>shuffle this will toggle through off/song/album. Once you have set this it will stay the same until you change the setting.
Now when you start playing a song in a playlist the iPod will shuffle through that playlist (or if you select your song through artist then it will shuffle through all the songs for that artist etc)

i deleted my cookies and now i can't access gmail facebook and other sites

Thanks, but I tried that and was directed to set up a new password which I did. But, it still wouldn't let me go to my existing Gmail. I was asked to set up Gmail account. I also tried accessing my Gmail from Yahoo. Failed. Someone suggested setting up another Gmail address so that when you logged on it would ask you which Gmail to open. This didn't work and only made the problem worse. Google Help is no help. I guess the only way to access Gmail is with my iPad, but it just isn't right!

The following link has 2 methods for importing photos to a Mac (not counting Photo Stream). Are you using iPhoto or Image Capture? If you follow the steps in the link for that method, what exactly happens that doesn't allow the upload? iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer

I have Deleted I Cloud and now I can not find my ring tones that I had purchased!

    - If they are not in iTunes match in the Cloud or on your computer then they are likely gon.
    - Just what did you do? You have to turn on/subscribe to Match on your computer and then it will "match" the music in your iTunes library and uploasd any that are not in the Apple's iCloud library
    - As Apple stated,
When enabling iTunes Match on your iOS device, the music library on your iOS device will be deleted and then replaced with your music in iCloud.
If further questions I would post in the Match forum

  • ITunes can't read my iPhone and now I can't uninstall iTunes. Help!

One day out of the blue I was unable to sync my iPhone 4S on iTunes. I then updated my iTunes to the latest version 11.0.1.
Error message then pops out when I opened iTunes "The software required for communitcating with iPods and mobile phones was not installed correctly. Do you want iTunes to try to repaire this for you?"
I selected "Yes" and another error message appeared "The software could not be repaired. Please reinstall iTunes if you wish to use these devices."
However, now I can't uninstall iTunes because after it uninstalls till the last 1 second, an error message kept appearing "Error getting file security: C:\Program Files\iTunes\ GetLastError:5"
I'm using Windows Vista 32-bit Operating system. And I've checked the file security for iTunes folder under Program Files and I'm the owner.
Attached below are the error messages I've been encountering. Can some kind soul advise me? Because now I can't update my songs in my iPhone and it's becoming obsolete if I can't do anything with it.
    Thank you!

  • My iPod says I have music "already on this device" even though I deleted it all, and now I can't sync anything onto it from my computer

So my 5th generation iPod is almost maxed out with storage, and so to save space, I deleted all the music I had downloaded in the Music app and I use Spotify to listen to all my music now. Not all music is on Spotify though, so there is one song that I want to add onto my iPod. The problem is that when I link my iPod to my computer it says that there are 154 songs already on the device, when there is no music on the device. I deleted it all, and when I go onto the Music app, it even says that there is no content. Whenever I am on the iPod menu on my computer, and I go on the Music tab, I have it selected to only sync selected playlists, artists, and etc.The only music that I have selected is the one song I want to sync, and it says that it will only sync one song. I keep trying to sync the one song, but for some reason it includes the other 154 songs, which I don't have the space for. It won't let me sync anything because of that. I just don't get why it says I have 154 songs on my iPod when I don't, and I don't know how to get rid of them. I thought that when you clicked an option and hit apply, that it would just replace everything on your iPod, but that isn't happening here. I'm just confused as to why it isn't letting me simply sync one song!
    Thanks!

You had a glitch and the music files got corrupted. I know of no way to uncorrupt them.
You can try using a computer app like iFunbox
    http://dl.i-funbox.com/
to see if yo can get them from the iPod in a usable file.
Otherwise you will have to re import them to your computer and sync
You can redownload most iTunes purchases by:
Downloading past purchases from the App Store, iBookstore, and iTunes Store

  • Memory is supposedly Full, deleted some files, and now I can't open Itunes.

I have a Macbook Pro but I don't play any games, I've never downloaded movies, but I do download music approx. 16GB and pictures...though not sure how to see how much memory these take up. Recently I've had trouble because my computer keeps notifying me that there is no space on the startup disk...which I can't understand why because I don't really have many files or programs on my computer. I've been deleting old files or things I don't really use and now my Itunes won't open saying there's an error (13014). So I have several questions, what is the best way to make space on the "startup disk" whatever that means, and how can I fix the error that's preventing me from accessing itunes? I have a feeling that my pictures might be taking up a lot of the space, how do I know when a single picture is too large and how could I condense them? Also when the memory gets full, my Microsoft Word starts acting all funky, is it because of the full memory? Thanks for your time:)

Just as a matter of info you have posted in the MacBook Pro (Late 2008 and 2009) > Using your MacBook Pro (Late 2008 and 2009) forums. Not that your issue matters matters so much where it's posted but in the future you would want to post where users have similar hardware as you do, MacBook Pro (Original)

In any case as F Shippey suggests you may have directory issues. If Disk Utility cannot repair the directory then you may need a stronger disk utility like DiskWarrior to rebuild the directory.

  • I just updated my Apple TV software and now I can't get to iTunes and the menu keeps going back to basic menu.  Software update fail!

Updated my software when prompted three days ago and as soon as the update was finished the basic screen came up with main menu.  However, when I selected "Podcasts", "TV" or "Movies" the screen goes black and the same home screen comes up again.  The only things that work are HuluPlus and Netflix and all non-iTunes icons.  I can't buy anything from the iStore so if Apple wants me to keep iShopping at the iStore and take my iMoney you might want to make a patch available quickly.

I just did the update to version 5.2 on our ATV2 and now I'm having the exact same problem as the OP- all attempts to access any iTunes services i.e. Movies or TV result in dropping back to the ATV Main menu.   Per Winston's suggestion, I logged out of iTunes and then tried to log back in.  I am getting a message "the server is not responding- please try again later".
FWIW- all my non-iTunes services on the ATV are working fine- i.e. Netflix and YouTube.
Sounds like the update has overwhelmed the Apple servers.

There are a lot of posts in the forums today with people having problems with iMessage.   There was also a published outage yesterday, so it's possible there are still some issues that may be impacting you both.

  • I deleted ~User/Library and now I can't get it back

For whatever reason, I have a program which is installing files that I need to access to ~User/Tom/Library (to clarify I don't mean ~Library). I deleted this library folder when I first got my mac because I found having two libraries confusing, and I didnt really see the need for one in my user folder.
Anyway, now if I go to my user folder and try to create a library folder inside it, it says to choose a different name as that one is already taken - and the folder is definitely not there! Is there any way to restore the folder?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

There are 3 Library folders in OS X:
One in /Users/Tom/Library (i.e. inside your home folder, assuming your user short name is "Tom").  This is commonly abbreviated as ~/Library and if you type 'cd ~/Library' in Terminal that's where you'll go.  This is for preferences and settings for applications and system settings unique to your user goes, typically.  There's a LOT of stuff in there.
One at /Library (at the root of the hard disk).  This is for settings for applications that may be used by the system or by multiple users on the system.
One at /System/Library (so off the System folder at the root of the hard disk).  This is for OS X specific stuff ONLY.  No 3rd party applications should EVER be modifying anything in this folder.
