I don't understand why so many of us are having the same problem...
i came on here to post that itunes doesn't recognize my ipod, that it freezes up itunes when i plug it in (even though it doesnt recognize it), that it just stays in 'do not disconnect' mode even when i try to safely remove it, and the only way to disconnect is to turn off the computer or reset a couple of times.
i saw that there are a ton of people on here with the same problem, it seems pretty ridiculous, there is obviously a major problem with the software that so many people are having identical problems.
i tried everything everyone suggested on here- reset, restore (like someone else below, it just freezes the ipod updater program & cannot update OR restore), i did the holding select & previous to get that weird menu but couldn't find the "I/O" selection that was recommended to check the USB port, tried putting it in disk mode to update/restore but still no dice...
does anyone have any SUCCESS stories about getting their ipod fixed with these problems? it is my husband's ipod that is all screwed up & now I'm afraid to plug mine into the computer b/c his hasn't worked correctly since this started- it stops mid song or after playing just one song in a playlist, is making a lot of clicking noises, etc.
i guess the apple store is the only way to go or sending it back????

I think you've missed the point of the original poster's post. There are many people here who have the same issue, and have explained themselves rather well. It would be one thing if the issue involved different error messages (and god forbid Apple provided meaninful messages for anything) or different physical problems or different attempts to solve the problem. I've read a number of these posts, many made within the past week, the majority since about mid-December, and all of them appear to be relatively similar.
Indeed, I am having the same issue, and have been since (as far as I can tell) late-December. My iPod works perfectly normally when not connected to my PC, but as soon as I connect it, iTunes, the iPod software, and even Windows itself will not recognize it as an iPod. The device appears to start normally, then reaches the "Do not disconnect" screen and remains there, causing whichever programs are currently attempting to mount the drive to hang (this includes Explorer and the iPod software). I am unable to stop these programs or unmount the iPod until either a) a timeout is reached or b) I manually disconnect it. I have come here as a last resort before calling Apple, as I have already read many of the support articles and attempted the fixes they provided, with no success. I have read through many posts on this board regarding similar issues, and none of the fixes provided by you or anyone else have been effective.
In short, while your posts may help those who have never diagnosed computer or device problems in the past, or who have not read through Apple's online help area, they are not the absolute answer to everyone's problem, and they are not specific enough to be of any assistance to those who have already narrowed the problem down. In this post in particular, you do little more than assault the original poster for suggesting that perhaps there is some other explanation for the plight of these users. One may be led to believe that you work for Apple and are attempting to cover up a known bug in the software or hardware so as to avoid the mass replacement of devices. While this conclusion is not altogether likely, your attitude and actions do not lead one to believe otherwise.
There could be any number of similarities to bring to light, and posts like yours prevent people from doing so. Perhaps it has something to do with the current version of iTunes, the iPod update software, the iPod service, a patch for Windows, or even dirt in the iPod's data port.
For those of you who are also experiencing the same problems the original poster and I are having, if you have already tried any or all of the following with no success, please reply to this post:
1. Restarting iPod (either connected or not connected to PC)
2. Ensuring that the iPod is fully charged
3. Restarting PC
4. Reinstalling iTunes and/or iPod software
5. Attempting to mount iPod in "Disk Mode"
6. Attempting to mount iPod with iPod service stopped
7. Running diagnostic tests on iPod (on restart, hold Select+Previous to reach diagnostic menu), all of which pass
8. Changing between Firewire and USB cables
9. Changing between Firewire and USB ports which are known to work properly

Every time I start the download process in iTunes, it stalls and nothing happens. I've tried restoring, and I've followed and tried all of Apple's instructions and directions but it still doesn't work. I do not see this specific problem addressed by Apple anywhere. If you have an iPad 1, the max iOS is 5.1.1. For newer iPads, the current iOS is 6.1. The Settings>General>Software Update only appears if you have iOS 5.0 or higher currently installed.

If you are currently running an iOS lower than 5.0, connect the iPad to the computer, open iTunes. Then select the iPad under the Devices heading on the left, click on the Summary tab and then click on Check for Update.
Tip - If connected to your computer, you may need to disable your firewall and anitvirus software temporarily. Then download and install the iOS update. Be sure and backup your iPad before the iOS update. After you update an iPad (except iPad 1) to iOS 6.x, the next update can be installed via wifi (i.e., not connected to your computer).

The apps are free with iOS 7 if you purchased a new device after September 2013. The apps do not come free just because you are running iOS 7 now. Did you purchase or receive a new iPad recently?
If you did, are you using the same Apple ID to get the apps that you used to activate the iPad? If you are, sign out of your ID, restart your iPad, sign in again and go back to the App Syore and see if the apps show up as free.
Settings>iTunes & App Store>tap your ID and sign out. Restart the iPad and go back to the settings and sign in again. -
I have made many attempts to install the 11.1.4.62 iTunes update unsuccesfully! Error 6034, iTunes.exe has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. I see that many people is having the same problem. How do I solve it...
Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components; this won't affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

After updating to OS X Mavericks, internet USB dongles topped working. Many other users have faced the same problems. Can someone please help me out? I am unable to find online help.
Sourcing Drivers for dongles when upgrading OS is a nightmare whether its osx or windoze. It takes the likes of Huawei ages to produce new versions. I strongly recommend getting a portable wifi (mifi) which will work with any device and sits in your pocket not sticking out the usb port where it gets broken. Recommend Huawei E5756

Easy, open it up, remove the drive and use a SATA to USB adapter to another Mac (or Windows PC with MacDrive)

For iPhoto Library, that's really a folder (it looks like a package) it can be right clicked on by OS x and "show package contents" to get the Origianls out.
However I don't know right off hand how that would appear on a Windows PC, perhaps as a iPhoto Library folder, perhaps not.
But the files are on the drive, and Data Rescue (Windows) can always be used to grab them directly.
iTunes Library can be transfered to a PC, as long as the account name is the same, it should work fine and maintain your playlists hopefully, but the music is easily accessible. -
My ipod is a 2nd gen ipod touch and i will go to listen a song and my ipod will cut it off when the song isnt done, like right inn the middle of it and just change to the next song. So frustrating anyway to fix it?
mine was doing the same thing at first so I had to convert all my mp3's to ACC files using itunes. I read in the faq that itunes will sometimes not play a file properly if you did not use iTunes to encode it. it's a real pain in the *** but try to convert to ACC and it should solve the problem.

How many of you are having these reported problems with the iPhone 5?
I'm thinking of getting an iPhone 5 after the 11th, when my current iPhone 4 contract expires.
With my luck with Apple products I'll probably get one with all the problems you read about:
- light leaks,
- bubbles on the screen,
- yellow tints,
- reversed volume buttons,
- scratches out-of-the-box...
How prevelant are these? Did your iPhone 5 have any of the above? Any other common problems?
I would wait until things "settle down" but I only have a window of one month in which I can switch providers without penalty if I decide to do that (crazy Japan system).

Just remember that coming on these forums, is kind of like visiting a hospital and thinking that everyone on the planet must be sick. The "gruntled" of this world are usually the loudest, while the usually very happy are nowhere to be seen or heard from.
I have at least a dozen friends who have already gotten their new iPhone 5. Not one of them has any issues. None. No light bleeding. No scuffs (oh sure, you can scratch the new phone if you try, it is afterall cased in annodized aluminum - so use a case to keep it pristine), no reverse volume buttons (I hadn't even heard that one), no bubbles, well you get the idea.
I suspect you can buy without fear and I'm sure you'll really be pleased you did. -
Why my final dvd colors are not the same as seen in preview monitor?
I have a Mac Pro and Final Cut Pro X. The image in my preview monitor looks great but once I burn to DVD the colors are not exactly the way they look in my computer FCPX monitor (computer). Can anyone help me out here?

attribute on the user's object in Active Directory Domain Services. It might be that the
thumbnailphoto attribute doesn't get updated after you change the photo.

RaviYes, you can certainly create a new Apple ID at appleid.apple.com (which will have to be associated with a different email address from your current ID) and then change the various settings and applications on one of your iPhones to use this new ID.

Are you aware that you can just load them into the actions panel by going to window>actions, then clicking the four lined square on the panel and choosing Load Actions from the menu? You don't have to put them into the effects panel anymore and there's no deleting mediaDatabase.db3 that way.
If you really need them in the effects panel for some reason (like for add-on tools) you are probably not finding the right library. The library at the top level of your hard drive isn't exactly hidden in recent versions of OS X, but it's very hard to get to it. The easiest way is to go to the finder preferences>sidebar and turn on Show Hard Disks. Then when you open a new finder window your hard drive will be in the list on the left side of the window. Click it and the library you want will be at the top level of results on the right side. But the actions panel is much easier. -
