I downloaded Firefox 4.0 onto my Mac but when I try to open it I get a warning message saying "The following disk images couldn't be opened" What do I do now?
While running Firefox, I got a prompt saying their was an update. I did that, but then got another message saying that it was recommended I update firefox to 4.0. I downloaded it, but never received a prompt to drag the image into my applications folder. I also never saw an image of firefox 4.0 on my desktop. Firefox 4.0 was in my downloads folder but got the above warning message when I clicked on it. I tried downloading it again, but the same thing happened. Now what? It appears that Firefox is still running, although I haven't yet tried to go to another website.

Sounds as if the disk image file is corrupt. If I were you, I'd try downloading it again.

I tried to download the game and it said the following disk images couldn't open
the following disk images couldn't be opened
TOT_Mac_installer_HI- not recognized
what i need to install to open this program ?
this game i bought as download but i am not able to open it
thanks, madelineWhat is the File Extension of that game file. I am thinking is is a .(DOT)EXE fiole which is a Windows file and won't run on Mac OS X.
If you don't have "Show All Filename Extensions" turned on I suggest you turn it on. It is in the Finder Preferences under the Advanced tab.
Then you can see what the extension of that file is. If it is a .EXE you'll need Windows to use it. -

One thing I notice is that the _mmServerScripts folder does not show up in my Local Files folder - even after refreshing. (The underscore must hide this folder?)When I change the drop-down from Local View to Testing Server I don't see the _mmServerScripts folder, and all folders are red.
The underscore at the beginning of the folder name hides it in the Files panel, although you can turn on the option to display hidden files by accessing the panel options menu.
The folder icons in the Files panel are colour coded: green is for local files, red represents the testing server (or Subversion repository, if defined), and yellow (Windows) or blue (Mac) represents your remote server.
As Randy says, check the Web URL in your testing server definition. It should be http://localhost/check_php/. -

Disk images couldn't be opened when downloading .dmg file
Since I upgraded to Yosemite I haven't been able to instal a .dmg file for upgrade of adobe - assumed a corrupt file but it wasn't vital so I ignored it until today when I needed to use the player.
I have run disk verification/permission checks - all ok & I have turned off security & firewalls but, even with deleting and redownloading the files several times after purging the error code still says
'The following disk images couldn't be opened' = reason given 'No such file or directory'
I have also tried to download Opera and Chrome today - the same error occurs.
Running Yosemite on Macbook pro from 2013 - all softwares up to date and problem recent - can anyone help?
SimonSame problem here. Restarting Mac fixes it for awhile, but then I start getting the "No such file" error again.

Want to upgrade to Firefox 3.6.13
The download comes as a compressed file in .dmg format. When I attempt to launch the .dmg file to decompress I get a error message that says: The following disk images failed to mount: Image > Firefox 3.6.13 Reason > Not Recognized. When I right click to see what opening app it is directed to it says: Open with "DiskImageMounter (default). Disk Utility is offered as another opening resource when I direct the file to Disk Utility and go to Menu Bar select "File" then select "Open Disk Image" (or Cmd + "O") I get the same result. Have tried downloading the file twice more and get the same resultsVk2mh it sounds like the download was not complete or corrupted. Where are you downloading the update from? Have you tried downloading again?

Portege R500: Which port replicator with DVI could be compatible
Hi, Does anyone know which port replicator with DVI supports the portege R500 notebook. When I look at the product and it's accessories no one of the port replicators lists the portege R500 as a supported notebook. Perhaps there is not one as of now?
