I downloaded OSX Mountain Lion three days ago. On startu my IMac shows a black DOS Screen. I must hard boot and it works. Does anyone have the same problem?

I already made a clean install and it didn't fix anything - the issue still exists (on my MBP 5.1 late 08)
BUT: the most horrible thing is: I also tried to downgrade to 10.7.4 (it worked perfectly before the update to 10.8!!!) and after being back on 10.7.4 it also boots (cold boot) into single user mode...
Now I'm back on 10.8 again (the 2nd clean install) and waiting for a fix...
I tried everything (alls kinds of commands, permission rights and reset all PRAM NVRAM SMC... no luck!)
A friendly guy on the german applehotline told me (after 2h telling him what my problem is): "mountain lion didn't break your mac it must be a hardware error and your mac is out of warrenty - so have a good one...bye"
Maybe apple will bring an update to fix this because it is ofcourse a software error...

I hope Apple brings an update too. I still have this problem. I also tried to do a clean install, which was a lot of work! So it must be a software problem.
I find it really annoying to get the black boot screen every time I do a cold startup!
I hope more people who have the same problem post something here, to let Apple now that they have to do someting about it!

I downloaded Mountain Lion a few weeks ago. Almost immediately I noticed that there was an issue. Every few minutes the screen or page I have open, e-mail, Facebook etc. will start to "jiggle" side to side. Like a nervous tick. During the few seconds it's doing that nothing else responds, it freezes my mouse etc. I guess I was hoping it would go away! Everything else is working just fine, and it never did this until I updated to Mountain Lion. Can this be fixed?
It is probably some incompatible 3rd party software.

I downloaded Mountain Lion OSX and I can't get onto YouTube, nor do I have facebook notifications on the new feature... Help?
Not sure about YouTube, but facebook integration isn't available until this fall.

You're not using the fast tracks midi out you are using the analog/digital audio.
But go to garageband preferences > Audio Midi and I'm guessing you have the wrong output set. Choose the output that you are using, I'm going to guess built in.
And make sure the fast track is set for audio input. -
can anyone tell me how to restore my itunes library and playlists? After I downloaded mountain lion my library is missing and my devices can be synced to only one library ...the missing one
That .itl file actually is the library -- at least the critical part of it although the library is actually many files and folders.
Try starting iTunes and immediately hold down the option key. When it asks, guide it to the .itl file.
It's really hard to say without being able to poke around your computer. Upgrading should not delete the old library, but still it happens to the very, very few which is why we make backups before updating. If the old library file is gone then so are your playlists. You can always see if the following is of any use:

The link I provided is a bona fide link to the Apple Online Store - the only place to legitimately purchase Mountain Lion. They will issue you with a Redeem Code that you can use at the Mac App Store (you will need to be running at least OS X 10.6.6 on your Mac to have access to the Mac App Store). When you redeem the code the Mountain Lion OS X Installer file will be downloaded to your Applications folder. You make want to make a copy of it it before running it as it self-deletes on successful installation - it may save you another 5gb+ download in the future.
It would be a good precaution to have tried and tested backup (Time Machine or a clone) that you can restore from if things go wrong (they shouldn't) or if you need to revert to the condition prior to upgrading for any reason.
Whilst Mountain Lion will work with 2gb of RAM installed, 4gb or more would be better. Also, some older apps may no longer work as Mountain Lion no longer supports Rosetta which enabled older PowerPC apps to run. Here is a reasonably comprehensive compatibility list. If there any older apps you rely on in your workflow they may also need to be upgraded as well:

Problem solved - I was using my Apple I.D. Password by mistake when I should have been using my Mac OSX password. Apple support gave me this solution and I was then able to install the Mountain Lion OSX with no problemo!

Apple no longer has Lion on the App Store unles you call them, pay with a credit card, and they give you a special code for downloading. -

Three days ago my iPod stopped syncing my email. I have IOS 8.1.2 so my software is up to date. I've changed no settings that I'm aware of. I now must check my gmail using the gmail APP. It says it's "checking for mail", but nothing shows up. How can I get my email to once again sync?

I am trying to search train tickets in Paris and can't do it. My e-mail (Shaw) defaults to HTML and I cannot access the Bay site through e-mail. Help.
Please read this whole message before doing anything. This procedure is a test, not a solution. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it. Step 1 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is localized to your user account. Enable guest logins* and log in as Guest. For instructions, launch the System Preferences application, select Help from the menu bar, and enter “Set up guest users” (without the quotes) in the search box. Don't use the Safari-only “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac.” While logged in as Guest, you won’t have access to any of your personal files or settings. Applications will behave as if you were running them for the first time. Don’t be alarmed by this; it’s normal. If you need any passwords or other personal data in order to complete the test, memorize, print, or write them down before you begin. Test while logged in as Guest. Same problem? After testing, log out of the guest account and, in your own account, disable it if you wish. Any files you created in the guest account will be deleted automatically when you log out of it. *Note: If you’ve activated “Find My Mac” or FileVault, then you can’t enable the Guest account. The “Guest User” login created by “Find My Mac” is not the same. Create a new account in which to test, and delete it, including its home folder, after testing. Step 2 The purpose of this step is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party system modifications that load automatically at startup or login. Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode* and log in to the account with the problem. The instructions provided by Apple are as follows:
Shut down your computer, wait 30 seconds, and then hold down the shift key while pressing the power button.
When you see the gray Apple logo, release the shift key.
If you are prompted to log in, type your password, and then hold down the shift key again as you click Log in.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including wireless networking on certain Macs. The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. *Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t boot in safe mode. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of steps 1 and 2. -

You can't.
Change your iTunes (Apple ID) password along with any other password that was stored in the iPod. If any passwords are associated with credit cards, contact the CC company and get your card replaced (with a new number). If any passwords are associated with a bank or any other savings institution, contact them also and discuss approprate action with them.
The only real protection you have is with the personal information on the device rather than the physical device itself. This requires action before the device is lost/stolen. If the device has significant personal information, it should have a strong 8-digit (or longer) password AND be configured for automatic wipe in the event of ten consecutive incorrect password entries. -
If i click on the download button in the purhased section nothing happens. if i go into the App store and click download on Mountain Lion there it looks like it is starting to download and opens Lauchpad but it never moves off 'waiting'.
Any help would be great.

Hey everyone, I've just had 1 problem today with not understanding that Mac Osx Lion isn't the same that Mac Osx Mountain Lion. My question got solved finaly. The thing is. I'm under OSX Lion 10.7.5 but I need the version Osx Mountain Lion 10.8.4 to make working my new version of Logic. (Logic X). I'm quiet pi..ed of that I was looking all the day and it isn't working from my App Store. I can't buy Mountain Lion and I can't download it. But any other app is working as I just randomly downloaded a cheap app. The message error is : Your Purchase Could Not Be Completed , We could not complete your request.
