I entered the answers to the security questions incorrectly and my apple id locked. Is there a way I can fix this myself?

When my iPod askede me to answer the questions I did not think there was any way I could answer them incorrectly. When they came up as incorrect I should have stopped and gone into my account and changed the questions and answers, unfortunately I did not. I would like to unlock my iPod without calling tech support and without having to spend any money if that is at all possible. Please, please, please help me.

You need to ask Apple to reset your security questions. To do this, click here and pick a method; if that page doesn't list one for your country or you're unable to call, fill out and submit this form.
They wouldn't be security questions if they could be bypassed without Apple verifying your identity.

it has worked fine no problems till i updated it i tried restoring itwith my old backup but it doesnt move the ios back so it just keeps on craching when i try to unlock it

Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.

B-rock, thanks for posting the above. I actually have the same issue, running Windows XP and I don't have that backup location, \Application Data\Apple Computer\MobileSync\Backup\. When I go to Documents and Settings\(username)\ there's a AppData folder followed by:\LocalLow\DataMngr\ .
I have the latest update, 5.0.1 and I have the iPod Touch 3rd gen.
I have tried removing itunes and all that is associated with it then reinstalling and keep getting the same message. I've reset my ipod thinking that would help but still, no backup.
In iTunes, Edit, Preference, Device there are no backups.
What am I doing wrong, can you help?

I do not remember the answers to my security questions since i made my account like 10 years ago. I can't use my rescue email since it no longer exists. Our previous email provider (wecare.net) was shut down. I want to keep my apple id since i still have money on my account and do not want to lose it. To import pictures from phone to computer you do not use itunes (you only use itunes to put them back on the iphone). Your computer should recongize the iphone as a camera capable device and allow you to import pictures.
If on a Windows > click start button > click computer > and under computer there should be your iphone listed > right click on it and hit import pictures and videos
