What is the GarageBand version that your friend is using?
If it is GarageBand '11, version 6.0.5, you can buy GarageBand '11 as a boxed retail version with the iLIfe '11 bundle, e.g. from Amazon.
Then you can upgrade GarageBand '11 to 6.0.5, using this upgrader from the Support page:
GarageBand 6.0.5
GarageBand 6.0.5 will work well with your system. But if your friend is using the newest GarageBand 10, this will not help. Then ask your friend to send you audio files for each track, so you can recreate the project from the audio. Or your friend could also use GarageBand '11 for the projects you want to share, that will run well in all newer MacOS X versions, even with GarageBand 10.0 installed on the same system.

How did you obtain these apps? All apps are DRM protected & tied forever to the account used to originally obtain them. They cannot be transferred to another Apple ID(account), nor can they be updated using any Apple ID other than the one that was used to originally obtain them.

How can I remove songs from my iphone but they still stay in my library
I have set up my music to sync only checked items, however, all the songs are still on my iphone. I only want certain songs on my phone, but it still shows several songs that I have not checked off. How do I remove songs from my iphone but they still will stay in my library.
What you need to do is go to music, and slide your finger to the right on the song you want to remove from your device. The song will still show in the music app but will have a cloud with an arrow beside it and you would have to re-download the song to your device to be able to listen to it. And also, this will only take the song off your device and it won't be removed from your library on iTunes. I hope this helps!

The album downloaded except one song. It says purchased rather than play and there is no option to try and download the one song that had an error. I deleted the song name from our library, but it still won't let me download. Any advice?

Delete an app from the Home screen: Touch and hold the icon until it jiggles and a circled x appears. Tap the x to delete the app. Tap the home button to exit the deletion mode.
Note: you can't delete any of the apps that came with the iPad, only apps you added.

I have several Ipods and an Ipad. We have all deleted music from our devices and the problem we are having is the song itself is gone which is what we wanted but the song title is still on the devices. It's grey and it won't play but I want to know how to remove the deleted songs completely off my devices.

Can any one help me get rid of a deleted app 4oD that still appears in the Settings list. I deleted it from the home screen and Spotlight search confirms it has gone. It is causing problems because I get notified of updates and I cannot get rid of them either. I have tried re-downloading via my MacBook because there isn't a download option from the iPad (App Store clearly think I still have it when I don't) then deleting again but the listing in Settings remains.
It is really irritating me.

I deleted some videos from camera roll but they still appear in the videos folder
I removed some videos from my 4s to my computer but they still appear in a file called videos on my phone. The file Videos doesn't show up on my computer when I plug my phone in to the USB. How can I see this file on my computer when my phone is plugged in?
The "Photos section" within the Photos app is just a view of your Photo Stream, organized by dates and locations. You can see the exact same content by looking at "My Photo Stream" within the Albums section of the Photos app.
So, deleting things from Camera Roll will have no effect on Photo Stream nor the "Photos" section of the app, except for pictures in Camera Roll which may not have been uploaded to Photo Stream yet. -
Tried to delete iCloud account from my iPad but won't delete
I have an old iCloud account - apple id [email protected] (can't access, can't delete from iPad). Don't know password, associated email or answer to secret question. It is making my iPad very difficult to use by constantly asking for iCloud password. Followed the steps to delete iCloud account and it asks for a password which I no longer have.

My iPad kept telling me that it was running out of memory so I deleted lots of pictures, videos,apps and music but I still don't have any memory. Is there anything else I can do/has anyone else had this problem?
After you deleted, did you reboot? Press ad hold the home and sleep buttons until the apple logo appears. Ignore the red slider. Stuff you delete sometimes does not get flushed away until you do that step.
Have you resynced? If so, unless you changed your sync selection on I tunes, all the stuff you deleted was put back on during the sync.
If you goto settings, general, usage there will be the space available at the top. And if you give it a minute, it will list all the apps you have,a along with their size. If you tap any of the apps it will then show the data and documents associated with those apps. You were right to go after videos first, along with music. -

If you are unable to download iTunes Setup file using the Default browser then have you tried downloading iTunes with a different Web Browser, if not then try that. ( Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox, Google Chrome)
Save the iTunes Installer file in the Location where you can easily find it
After removing iTunes and its components Restart your Computer once and then Right click the iTunes Setup.exe file and run the Program as Administrator
If you are using the 64 Bit version of Windows on your computer then it is Good to change the Install Location from " C:\Program Files(x86)\iTunes " To " C:\Program Files\iTunes " while installing iTunes when it asks for the Location. -

You can't. You'll have to contact the previous owner to have them do it or give you their credentials. If you cannot contact them or they are unwilling to provide you with that info, then you are out of luck.

After inadvertently deleting Safari, I reinstalled all applications, and all returned to full fucntion except for iPhoto. Although the iPhoto icon appears in the dock, and despite my also having successfully downloaded the most current version of iPhoto via "Software Update, now when I open iPhoto, I get a window stating that I can’t open my "current photo library using this version of iPhoto." The window also advises as follows: "You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Do you want to quit and use the latest version of iPhoto, or do you want to create a new photo library?" However, despite tha apparetnly two options stated in the window--quitting or creating a new library, the only thing I can do at that point is "Quit," which closes iPhoto. When I reopen it, I enter the endless loop of window notifications documented above. What can I do, if anything, to render iPhoto functional with regard to the photos I had saved to it before I had to reinstall all of the applications on my iMac? Alternatively, are those photos lost forever? Please advise.
It's hard to say for sure, because we do not know what version you had or have now.
You should have to pay again if you already paid for an iPhoto upgrade at one time or another. All you should have to do go to the App Store select Purchases and reinstall that version of iPhoto.
If you did not Purchase an iPhoto upgrade from the App Store, then you will need to look and see what version of iPhoto you have (6, 8 or 9) and then as Carolyn suggests update it with the latest update for that version.

FWIW, I do believe that iPhoto 9.2.3 is the latest version of iPhoto 11 that will run in 10.6.8 Snow Leopard. -
