I found a similar question on Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/2560x1080-resolution-macbook-resolution-option-/forum/Fx15 6DUSW1J104N/Tx14L2NHT4Y3F8K/1/ref=cm_cd_ql_tlc_al?_encoding=UTF8&asin=B00JM99DIU
It looks like you may need a mini-displayport to Displayport cable. You can also try holding the option key while clicking on "scaled" to see if the option you need comes up.

Does anyone have a problem with upgrading Macbook Pro late 2011 hard drive to a SSD?
Hi Guys i am planning of upgrading my hard drive on my Macbook Pro 15" late 2011 for a SSD, does any one have any problems while doing this, i was told in some cases the mac loses the avility to go to sleep and etc, i would appreciate any come that you may have in this subject.
Also can any one recomend a good cheap SSD for my mac, i am looking at the crucial version, it appears to be ok.
thanks guysI believe they are up to 2TB in the 2.5" laptop drives.
Do a quick google on the brand & model first to see what the reviews are and failure rates.
I use Hitachi in mine.
SSD's are also an option for you. These are much faster than the traditional mechanical drives, but also much more expensive & are much smaller in capacity.
Here is a link that gives you some idea of options. -
Macbook pro late 2011, completely messed up, a macbook pro of this year should not be operating like this, everything I click it brings up beachball very slow, blue ray and hd unwatchable as it jerks. genius bar app didnt help at all, very disappointed, can some1 help me?
You have a hardware problem. It is probably the hard drive is either to full, not enough free space, or it is starting to fail.
If you have an external drive connec that to the system and use the Recovery HD, Command + r keys at startup, to install a clean fresh copy of OS X Lion on the external then run the system from that. It will be slower but if you don't get the beachball then that is the sign your internal drive is on its way out or is filled up with files and not enough free space. -

Hello,
Today something strange happened to my macbook pro. I turned it on, and when I went to check for updates the new update was available, so I clicked it.
Once it completed at the app store, it restarted and a whire screen with the Apple logo appeared and a bar.
Literally the bar only completes like 25% of its shading and then it shuts off. I don't know what to do, please help me.
Thanks for reading.Howdy Djjojo860,
Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like there’s a startup issue with your MacBook Pro since installing the latest software update. I understand that this may be a frustrating issue, but the article linked below provides a lot of great information that can help you resolve the issue.

I have a late 2011 MacBook Pro 13" and bought a brand new iMac 27" last week.
I tried to transfer data (musdic & photos) via Thunderbolt, but i did not run, my system always
tries to transfer data via WLAN, but that would last more than 80 hours.
I tried to get some help from the Apple Support, but unfortunately they couldn't help me.
A promised call-back from the next higher support-level has not been done.
Does anybody know what the problem might be.
The Thunderbolt-cable is brand new.Instead of using Migration Assistant, the best way is to use the Target Disk Mode, so you will save headaches (Migration Assistant creates a new user with the transferred data).
To do this, just connect both Macs with the Thunderbolt cable, and then, start the MacBook Pro holding the T key, so a Thunderbolt or FireWire icon should appear on the display. After that, go to the iMac, open Finder, and the hard drive of the MacBook Pro will appear on the Finder sidebar as an external drive, under "Devices". Just access to it, go to the folders with your iTunes and iPhoto libraries, and copy them to the iMac -

Pawn shop! They only looked after it for a stranger then the ticket ran out. Will apple accept that sell-on as a bill of sale? I'll give you 50:50 chance on that. Did you see Apple recently refused to unlock an ipad left to a guy by his mother who died of cancer. Apple wanted a court order! (Til it got on the national TV news).
Someone will have to produce the original owner's bill of sale I reckon. -

Using New Apple 27" LED Display with old MacBook Pro (Late 2006) 15"
I've got a MacBook Pro (Model # A1211) Core2Duo 15" 2.16 GHz with only 128 MB of VRAM and a built-in DVI port (I think it is dual-link DVI)
My question is, will the new 27" LED Display work with this machine at its best resolution? If so, what adapter would I need to get it to work?
Thanks!I don't think the Kanex adapter is the best one to purchase. The information on their website says it will only drive the 27" at 1280 x 720. Although I have not purchased one yet, the ATLONA website http://www.atlona.com/Atlona-Dual-Link-DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort-Converter-USB-Pow ered.html, claims their Atlona AT-DP400 converter will drive the 27" at its highest resolution of 2560 x 1440. I have read confirmation from some users that this is the case for the DP400.

Can I install Snow Leopard on a new partition on a Macbook Pro (Late 2011)?
I need to get Pro Tools 9 up and running again after I migrated from PC to Mac, but I know that Pro Tools 9 doesnt work with Lion.. I dont have the money to upgrade to PT10 so my thought was to go downgrade to Snow Leopard to get it working. But I dont want to leave Lion, so my question is if I can make a new partition and install Snow Leopard on the new partition and have both OSs bootable?
The guy in the store I bought my mac from said Snow Leopard probably wouldnt play nice with the mac since its adapted to Lion but I dont trust people that get money for preaching about the constant need for "the latest". So I thought I'd ask the experts instead, so here I am! What do you guys think?theoretically, it should work - but the guy at the Apple Store is correct....computers that ship with the latest operating system do not support being downgraded.
You might not get past the spinning beach ball & gray screen if you try to boot from the Snow Leopard install disc.
It's worth a shot though if you want to try it. Just don't try to 'downgrade' the current Lion installation back to Snow Leopard. Try instead to create a new partition specifically for Snow Leopard. Disk Utility - select the top HD (probably reads Hitachi something)...select it, click on the Partition tab. Select the top partition, and you should then be able to see the + so you can add a new partition. I would probably make it about 20GB give or take depending on how much space you think you will need - but i believe the Snow Leopard installation by itself takes up around 8-10GB.
Once this partition is created, insert your Snow Leopard installation disc, restart the computer and hold the C key down to start from the install disc. When it walks you through the steps for installation, select the newly created Snow Leopard partition. Install. Be sure to go through all the Software Updates (numerous times) after the installation is done.
You can select which startup disc you want to boot from by holding the Option button down at startup until you see the gray startup manager that shows your Lion partition, Recovery Disc partiton, and your Snow Leopard partition.
If for whatever reason this doesn't work, simply just erase the partition. It likely will not work but you should be able to just erase that newly created partition without any other problems. -
I need help with a frequently freezing macbook pro late 2011.
The problem started about three weeks ago. Since then I have been trying to troubleshoot myself. With every page or site I go to, including mac applications, my computer freezes with a spinning wheel every 30 seconds or so. The problem began before I upgraded to mavericks. When that did not fix the problem I tried to erase and reinstall mountain lion in recovery. I was able to erase but was only given the option to reinstall mavericks, which I did. I keep seeing the same things in my console. I am not sure if I have one related problem or multiple problems. Please help.
Here are the results from my eyre check

Thanks for your help.Use a USB flash drive or connect the two to your home network and use file sharing.
Note that have a MacBook Pro, not a PowerBook, running 10.6.4. Update it to 10.6.8 - Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1. You can then install Lion or Mountain Lion so you can use iCloud. -
HELP NO SOUND D: MACBOOK PRO Late-2011
Hey guys, so i recently had repaired my mac from a Kernel Panic earlier... although when i had fixed the problem (by removing a file named voodooHDA.kext) i've realised that i can adjust my sound levels, although sound does not come out from either my speakers or earphones/headphones. Any help or a response would be appreciated. thanks
