I got a brand new MacBook Pro retina display a week ago. Since yesterday, it won't come up at all. Screen stays blank, no HD sound, nothing. Does anyone else have same issue which they resolved already?
I did call them and it seems there is no solution except sending it back to them and getting a new one.
This is by far the most strange issue I have seen. Seems more like a hardware issue than software.

I am planning to replace my 3+ year old MacBook Pro with a new MacBook Pro, Retina display... I have been told by "chat" on the Apple site that I can transfer my data wirelessly... on my network.. Is is a good option? I don't want to invest in cables if I can help it... since the old machine has firewire and the new one has thunderbolt! Will the wireless transfer take forever... as in 30-50 hours??? I've been hearing these horror stories...

Either the power brick is damaged, or the charging circuit is on the blink, or both. Either way, a trip to the Apple Store or the Apple Authorized Service Provider is in order, as this ain't no bargain basement toy.
In the meantime, can attempt an SMC Reset to see if it helps. -

Why Apple doesn't support their new MacBook Pro Retina Display with DVD-Room (Superdrive)?
There is no reason for people to wag around a superdrive all day. Most people never use it anymore.
Well that is simply not true. Everyone I know who uses a laptop still burns CD's and DVD's. Especially if they use their laptops for any kind of work besides downloading movies and music from iTunes or uploading their iphone pictures to facebook. At my job, and at a lot of jobs, documents, video and other media are still exchanged by portable media. The cloud is not yet at a place that there is across the board use of it and there are also security and technical issues when exchanging information in adversarial situations. That are more easily handled by sending a disk. Unless your computer is nothing more than a toy for you, there will be a need to be able to produce portable media for a long time to come. However, with the portable drive add on, it's not a must to have it built-in and you maybe even be able to find a better drive for burning stuff than apples so a portable situation can be a plus. -

Reinstalling FCP in new Macbook Pro Retina from time machine backup. Have all serial numbers back to FCP1 but I am warned I have an invalid serial number. How can that be! I need to install and use this weekend.

When I restored my new computer from the time machine, the software was transfer to the new machine, in the past when double clicking the icon it would come up and ask for the serial numbers. This time was the same with the exception of:

Why is my new Macbook Pro Retina Display getting so hot?
I've had my Macbook Pro Retina Display for nearly a week and it works like a dream and I love it.
However it does get rather hot, around the F keys it's almost too hot to touch, all I use are internet applications and occasionally Spotify and iTunes so it's not like I'm constantly running hefty software.
I just wanted to check that this is normal as this is my first Macbook, I've been a PC user for 10 years.
Any help would be appreciated.Download iStat Pro and report back with the temp readings.

New Macbook Pro Retina Display Issue

I just purchased a new Macbook Pro, 15" Retina Display, 16Gb Ram, 2.3Ghz and finally got my hands on it last week after more than 5 weeks of waiting.
I have a issue for which I wasnt able to find anything on either Google, or this or any other forum.
At one point, after succsessfully installing windows 7 through Bootcamp, I got a set of 4 differently colored vertical stripes going along my MBP screen, starting with a very dark blue stripe on the far right, purple slightly thicker, then a copy of the first blue stripe and at last the thickest stripe which is sort of a very transparent black overlay (around 10% black overlay).
I can think of nothing, deleted windows, it's partition & all that (not that I would've made a difference but I'm kinda desperate). I am including a screenshot (in which everything looks normal even though the stripes are there) and a photo I just took with my iPhone.
The 4 stripes now turned into 2 (at least visibly). the transparent one and the 3 colored ones joined together as black.
