I got an iPod 40GB Photo 4th Generation...Need Help!

My Apple iPod Photo 20GB Photo 4th Generation broke so I decided to get a 40GB Photo 4th Generation off eBay.
Because the iPod 40GB Photo 4th Generation was a used one, all it came was the iPod.
It didn't come with an installation CD.
Will the installation CD for a iPod Photo 20GB work with the 40GB?
I need help installing the iPod 40GB Photo 4G.

It didn't come with an installation CD.
Will the installation CD for a iPod Photo 20GB work with the 40GB?
The installation CD with be the same. Of course, it will work for the 40GB.

  • IPod Shuffle (4G / 4th Generation) w/ Software Version 1.0.1, iTunes does not find 1.0.2 update

I have an iPod Shuffle (4G / 4th Generation / A1373) running Software Version 1.0.1. I know that version 1.0.2 is available. However, iTunes says that there is no update for it. I have reset the iPod Shuffle and tried everything I can think of.
Any advice / information would be greatly appreciated.

My 1.0.1 is not being recognized by the latest version of Itunes...11.1.3.  Really getting fed up with Apples "upgrades" obsoleting other hardware and software...particularly their own.

Yes, there literally hundreds of video editing Apps for the iPod in the App Store if you want to edit directly on the iPod.
Alternatively, you can always download the video to your computer and edit it there with any video editor of your choice.

  • IPOD Photo 4th generation LCD screen

I am working on a PIC microcontroller project at the moment and I wanted to know if the technical guys any anyone looking at this post could help me out with the pinout of the 32 pin connection on the 2" 220x176 colour display that's fitted to all 4th generation IPOD phot's.
I have done a lot of digging around on the net and it looks like the IPOD photo's display has a Renesas HD66789R controller built in.
    http://www.ipodlinux.org/wiki/Generations
One chap has managed to figure out the pin-out on the IPOD video's display but it's probably safe to assume that the pinout for this display if different to that of the Photo.
    www.electricstuff.co.uk/ipodlcd.html
I have chosen this display because they are readily available on Ebay at a sensible price and it has SPI interface to keep the pin count down.
I would very much appreciate the pinout for the 32 pin connector.
    Thanks
    Alan

First, try a system reset.  It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until the screen blacks out or you see the Apple logo.  Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears.  You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore.  Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset.  Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync.  From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab.  Follow directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup.  You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod.  Again, say "yes."

    Resolve communication issues
Check the hosts file or TCP/IP filtering, which might cause communication issues between iTunes, ports, and servers.
Common errors: 1004, 1013, 1638, 3014, 3194, or 3000-3999. These alerts refer to gs.apple.com, say "There was a problem downloading the software", or say the "device isn't eligible for the requested build".

  • Cracked iPod Touch 4th generation screen-Help!

    Hello.
In December, I bought an iPod Touch 4th generation. It is 16 GB. Yesterday, when trying to take a picture, I dropped my iPod and now the screen has many cracks. However, both cameras were not damaged, and the device seems to work fine. Also I have a screen protector on it.
First of all, I dont know if I should replace it, keep it, or get a new one.
On replacing: Can the screen actually be replaced? Or can the cracks be helped? And how much would it cost? Would Apple charge me for it? (there is an apple store about 40 mins away) Or should I just take it to one of those repair shops at the mall?
On keeping it: As I said, the device works fine, but there are many cracks.
On getting a new one: I do not have AppleCare, but it has been under a year, so would the warranty be violated? Or not, because it was my own mistake? Would Apple replace it? Also, I do not have enough iCloud storage, so if I got a new iDevice, my data would be lost. Wouldnt it?
Finally, on that last topic, can you buy iCloud storage with an iTunes card? And can I cancel it?
    Please help me. Thank you.

  • My friend asked me to load some of my music to his 1st generation ipod from my 4th generation ipod - do i need to have the older software to do this?

My friend asked me if I would help him out buy sharing my extensive music collection with him.  He mailed me his ipod it is running version 3.1.3 (7E18) I believe it is an ipod 1st generation.  I am running version 4.3.5 (8L1) on a 4th generation ipod.  Am I going to have to download the older version for his ipod in order to have full access to it?  Also, I connected his ipod to my computer and was able to access his music library (by opening a new account on computer); however, his apps are all over the place and I was attempting to organize them, but was unable to acces the apps.  The apps appear to be locked.  What gives?

You can only sync to one computer, unless it is set to manual. The easiest way is to have the music in his library at any rate.
If it is purchased music it is tied to your account and would need to be authorized to play on other computers, I wouldn't advise going that route.

  • Brocken Ipod Touch screen (4th Generation)

I bought an IPod touch (4th generation) and after a really pathetic 4 days I managed to accidentally drop it and the corner of the screen cracked and it runs down to the touch screen slightly. It is still fully functional but I'm afraid the crack could increase and it just looks awful, so I was wondering how much it would cost to replace considering that it was still in the warranty. Because I recently forked out £240 on and IPod, I can afford anything too ridiculous on top of that.  Any help would really be appreciated.

A broken screen is not covered by the warranty. However, sometimes if you make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store they will exchange it for no cost, especially for a new iPod.
If not Apple will exchange it for this price. Scroll to your country.
