Aside from what Rudegar has suggested - swipe from screen to screen and see if the icon is on another screen or in a folder somewhere.
Do a search on your iPad and then tap on the icon when it shows up to launch the app store and then go back to the home screen and see if it is there.
You can always reset the home screen as well to return the app store icon to your home screen. Settings>General>Reset>Reset Home Screen Layout.
Bear in mind that if you choose this option - it will return your home screen layout to what it looked like when you first activated your iPad. Any folders that you created on the home screen will be gone, but the App Store icon will return. -
Help! My iPod touch won't let me download any apps. A message keeps coming up saying "This Apple ID cannot be used for the iTunes store. Please enter another Apple ID" I changed my ID to see if that would work but the same message still comes up.

What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store? -

I figured out what was going on the app had miss represented how much space it would take it had said it was 1.2g's however it was really 1.9g's which was all I had left on the phone I downloaded it to my computer first from the apps store then was able to see this. At that point I was able to rearrange some memory to accomadate it's size thanx for the help.

My daughter has used my computer to log into iTunes and download music but now it won't let me download recently purchased music from my iPad onto my computer. I want to transfer the recently purchased songs onto my iPod so how can I do this now? iTunes now says that I have to wait another 55 days! There must be a way to do this since I have paid for them.
In iTunes sign out of your daughters Apple ID and sign in with your own.

When trying to download apps on my new iPad I keep getting prompted to update my security questions for my safety. When I choose this option it freezes and won't load the questions, however, when I hit not now it won't let me download. What do I do?
Reboot your iPad and then see if you can set the security questions.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -

Hi apple, I have currently got a visa $50 gift card. I put it on my iTunes account I have currently ran out of funds on the card. Now even when I try to download free apps or even update, it says it requires a new credit card. Is there a way around this
We are fellow users here on these user-to-user forums, you're not talking to iTunes Support nor Apple.
If you have a credit card on your account then it needs to be valid. Have you tried removing it from yoru account ? On your iPad try tapping on your id in Settings > Store (Settings > iTunes & App Store on iOS 6+) and selecting 'View Apple ID' on the popup - that should give you a payments link on your account's page. -

The authorisation sums usually amount to a dollar or its equivalent in some other currency. The bank would not have been asked for that sum, as you can see on the document. So that particular transaction could be worth following up with your bank if your purchase list doesn't explain what it is.

Is the address on your iTunes account exactly the same (format and spacing etc) as on your credit card bill ? If it's not then that might be the reason that you are getting the security code error : http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1646 ? If it is then you could try what it says at the bottom of that page :
If the issue persists, contact your credit card company and verify that they and any company they use to process credit card authorizations have the correct information on file.

1. If you just want to run one application, control-click it and choose Open instead of changing the setting. This only needs to be done once per application.
2. Ensure that you trust any software you choose to open in this way.
