I had quicktime pro, I upgraded to snow leapoard and installed iLife and lost quicktime pro. How do I get it back. I tried re installing quicktime but it will not let me??

Mac OS X 10.6 includes QuickTime versions 10.0 and 7.6.3. The QuickTime 7 player will only be present if a QuickTime Pro key was present at the time of installation, or if specified as part of a custom install, or individually downloaded:

Snow Leopard update 10.6.4 included an update to 7.6.6 (if installed). You can install it from the above link even though it says for 10.6.3. It's the same version of QuickTime Player 7.6.6.
(Only QuickTime Player 7.6.3 or 7.6.6 can be updated to "Pro".)

I just posted this fix to another thread and thought it might be useful to post to all of the threads I read trying to fix the problem. Here it is:
Having the same issue over here with Mavericks 10.9.1 on a new Macbook Pro/Retina. Just now found a workaround/fix/whatever:
- click on your group in the group pane of the address panel
- click anywhere in the name pane and select all (command + a)
- click the "To:" or "Cc:" or "Bcc:" tab right above the group pane at the top of the address panel window.
The names of all of the individuals in the group will appear as an expanded list in whatever field you clicked. It takes a second or two to happen.

I have been unable to update firmware on this computer for about a year now. Im not sure why.
I am running a bootleg copy of Windows XP on this computer, I would not like to spend $149 to get Windows 7 if possible.

Why don't you take your 'old' MBP into your local Apple Store and have them check out everything that's wrong with it - and I mean everything? Then, when you get an estimate about how much it would cost to get the machine completely repaired, ask about the Apple flat-rate repair pricing?
It's worth a shot - and with what you may save, you can put in the bank for a new MBP.

I need to check a few other things...
Click on 'Mail' in the upper left corner next to the Apple ()
Click Preferences
Click the 'Accounts' tab
Make sure your iCloud account is highlighted in the column on the left.
In the account information section what does it say next to:
Incoming Mail Server?
Outgoing Mail Server?
Also, did you use MobileMe before the iCloud?

Are you getting any error or you don't have the option under site settings at al? Check if you have set up MX records after upgrading the site. To Add MX records,
go to Site settings-> Manage domains-> Click More Actions > New MX Record, select your domain name, and click Save.

I have a fully functioning imac running snow leopard fine (recently upgraded to it) because of flash and java issues on browsers seemed I needed to get on to Lion or Mountain Lion so I upgraded the RAM to 2.5GB and now it will not let me upgrade maybe because my model seems to be a late 2006 and not a 2007 imac, cannot understand why it will not let me do this or provide a solution for me to upgrade what I need? yesterday I updated logic pro, I have just discovered that my IK Multimedia ARC system has disappeared from the plug in drop down window, can anyone advise how I can get it back. It seems that old logic files where it was previously loaded still have the plug in live, but on a new project file it simply isn't there to select and activate.

Not sure about your issue. What did you update from and to? Is ARC still in the plugins/components folder?
I'm an ARC user too. I have it plugged in to Audio Hijack Pro which is set to hijack audio from Logic. This way ARC is after logic and you don't have to remember to bypass the plugin before you bounce.

If you originally downloaded iPhoto, iMovie, and GB from the App Store, you can re download the apps for free using the same Apple ID.
How to re download apps from the Mac App Store:
Open the App Store. From the menu bar click Store > Sign In
Click Purchases from the top of the App Store window.
Select which apps you want to re download. Then right or control click where you see Installed then click Install.

With the last upgrades my Firefox has lost all sound, how can I get it Back?.

I Upgraded to OpenSUSE 13.1 a few months ago. Firefox lost the ability to give me sound with Utube video's. I tried the Tumbleweed upgrade system, but it was not to my liking. So I have done a fresh install from DVD, and most of what I want is working well. Firefox is not playing sounds, where do I look to see what is missing?

Are other applications able to play sounds? If so, are some things able to produce sound in firefox but not others? For instance, playing a youtube video versus playing an mp3 (which would be easy to test by providing a file:// link to a mp3 on your hd) versus playing a wav or ogg file.
If firefox is simply unable to play any of these things at all, you may be missing a vital plugin. If it is able to play videos for you but not the associated audio, try starting firefox from a terminal and check to see if there is any output to the terminal (on startup or when playing a audio/video file) that might be relevant.
If nothing above seems to shed any light on things, you may also want to try running ldd on it as well (in a terminal, try typing ldd $(which firefox) and look for missing libraries).

Upgraded from iPhoto 08 to 11 and now my library is gone. How do I get it back?

I updaded to iPhoto 11 and when I ran the updater is said that my permissions could not be fixed and then quit.
How do I get my library back. Unfortunately my Time Machine was having problems also when I updated to Mavericks and all of my back up show blank on the time machine.

Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Library Permissions.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
