I have a folder and 3 files stuck on my desktop. When I drag them to the trash I am asked to enter my administrator's password. I do this but the files and folder will not delete. I have checked 'Get Info' on each of them and they are not locked?

Triple-click anywhere in the line below to select it:

Launch the Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)

☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V).
A TextEdit window will open with the output of the command. Post the contents of that window, if any — the text, please, not a screenshot. The title of the window doesn't matter, and you don't need to post that.
If any personal information appears in the output, anonymize before posting, but don’t remove the context.

I ran into the same problem, I think that, If you tab on a song that is on your IPOD, and the song data is grayed-out, I think it means that the song is probably twice on your IPOD and that the iTunes directory can not edit THAT song data for two (or more) files @once. Check if this is the case, sinceI have the same problem,am looking for a way to have One and the same song in more playlists but only keep the song once on the IPOD.

They are linked to your account, but they are also tied to the country that they were bought in - you won't be able to potentially redownload them unless you move back to the US and have a US billing address on your account (you have to be in a country to use its store, including redownloading past purchases).
Have you not got a backup copy of all of your downloads/library that you can copy them back from ? Even if you hadn't moved countries any item could be removed from the store at any time by the rights-holders (you are only guaranteed one download of any item), you should be keeping and maintaining a backup copy.

The iphone is not a backup device.
You need to copy everything from your old computer, or your backup copy of your old computer to your new one.

Plug-in page tells me all plug-ins are up to date, but I keep getting error messages from Firefox telling me they are not and are unstable

I keep getting error messages stating that my Adobe Flash is out of date and vulnerable. I go to the Add-ons Manager, click "update" and it takes me to the plug-in page which shows it's up to date!! Same with Java DT and Shockwave Flash. How can I update if I have the latest versions already!?! I am inclined to just allow the plug-ins to work but don't want my pc to become vulnerable. hello Danagriz, unfortunately the plugin check page lags behind. adobe has released a critical patch for a vulnerability in its flash plugin, which is reportedly already exploited in the wild. therefore firefox will block insecure versions from running by default on websites for your protection.

in order to update java, go to java.com (or if you don't need the plugin you can also uninstall it though the windows control panel)

When I try to write an email, many of the words get highlighted as if spelled wrong. They are not wrong

This doesn't happen when I use the internet explorer browser, only when I use Mozilla. This also happens when I reply to an email, not just on new emails. If I use spell check, it finds no wrong words and the lines do not go away. This is very distracting as it is very hard to tell the misspelled words from those that I have correctly spelled.

Firefox doesn't do email. Some webmail websites use their own spellcheck which overrides that which is in Firefox.
Another thing, if you aren't using the '''en-US'' localization of Firefox, did you install the correct dictionary for your locale?

Go to your Pictures Folder and find the iPhoto Library there.
Right (or Control-) Click on the icon and select 'Show Package Contents'. A Finder window will open with the Library exposed.
Look there for the iPod Photo Cache. Trash it. Start iPhoto and try sync again.

After deleting (before starting Safari) it’s restored by a default TopSites.plist, it seems these cookies
- are only reloaded when viewing the Top Sites (?)
- are not among my reappearing cookies, I have never seen such a cookie / cache on my system before (e.g. expedia, orbitz, monster, usatoday, disney, craigslist).
And Top Sites would not explain why the Web Inspector has different infos regarding use of cookies and local storage than Safari’s “Privacy” tab.

Yes i've tried all of that. I've turned it all the way on and off and erased all of my music and put it back on and nothing works. And with the breaking up CDs and putting into compilation categories i have already fixed all of that stuff. It's fine it just doesn't show up in the list of artists. I can find the album in the songs category and the albums category it's just it doesn't show tha name of the artist. All of the other albums that i downloaded before i updated my itunes to th most recent update are fine. It's just the two that i downloaded afterwards. Thanks for trying though.

Go to Settings>iCloud and confirm that you are signed into the account that contains you conacts and that the contacts setting is turned on. Also open the contacts app and tap Groups (if you have this setting at the top) and make sure all your contacts groups are checked.
If they still don't appear, go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts off, choose Delete from My iPhone when prompted (they will still be in iCloud), then turn Contacts on again.
If they still don't appear, force-close the Contacts app and reset your phone: double-tap the home button, locate Contacts, swipe up on the image above the app icon to close it, tap the home button again. Then hold the power and home buttons at the same time until you see the Apple logo, then release and wait for it to restart. Then check your contacts again.

Usually in the iTunes menu there is an option call 'rentals' where rented movies sit until they expire, this is no longer visible. The movie files are listed in the finder under music/movies.... With the rest of my iTunes data, but they will not play in iTunes from there and I can't add them to my library for watching.
The only thing I am currently doing differently is that I have just subscribed to iTunes Match; would this affect my rentals?

Under your Library list, you should see "Movies". Click on that, and you will see a screen with several tabs at the top - Rentals, Unwatched, Movies, Genres, Home Videos, etc.
As Hackintosh indicated above, click on the Rentals tab, and your movies will be displayed there. Doulbe click on one to start playing it.
If you do not have your sidebar showing, go up to View at the top, and click on Show Sidebar. Then you will see your Library lists on the sidebar, which will include Movies.

Did it used to be on that computer ? Your music library will only be where you put it, buying a new computer and installing iTunes on it will not put your library on it.
If you go in Edit > Preferences in your iTunes and on the Store tab tick the 'show iTunes in the Cloud purchases' tickbox then your iTunes purchased music might show in the Music part of your library with cloud icons against them for redownloading - if you've moved countries since buying the music or if it's no longer in the store then it won't show for redownloading. And check to see if you've hidden any of your purchases : iTunes Store: Hiding and unhiding purchases - Apple Support
For your own music (e.g. copied from CDs) and what you can't redownload then do you still have your old computer with it on, or do you have a backup of your downloads/library, or is it on your phone ? If on your phone then there are some programs listed halfway down this page which should be able to copy it back : Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device.
