No you don't. All currently available commercial hard drives and SSDs have the same SATA connectors in the exact same place.
As to being plug and play that is up to interpretation. The drive will plug into the cable but then you have to partition and format the drive for the Mac OS X operating system and then install OS X on it or restore from a Time Machine backup or Clone from your original drive to the SSD. Those things aren't necessarily Plug & Play. Not hard, just time consuming. Some more than the others.

Please help. I have a Mac Book Pro ( late 2007- A1226) that I want to install Windows 7 ultimate on. I have boot camp 3.0 and I can set up the partition but when i click start installation, I get a black screen ( for a few seconds) then it goes to a grey window, which alternates between flashing the apple symbol and a circle with line through it. I was wondering if the late 2011 macbook pro uses SATA II or SATA III for the hard drive. The reseason I'm asking this is because some day I'm going to replace the Hard drive for a SSD drive down the road and would like to use all the performance of the SATA controler.

Do you have a SD slot? If not you get a USB to SD memory card adpater at the computer/office/online store and use that.
It appears as a drive on your machine and you can use Export from iPhoto or drag and drop methods too.

I just bought a 2013 late model Mac Book Pro Retina and am wondering if it is worth installing windows through boot camp.
If I install the windows component in order to run an exe file and its component "Declans Korean Flash Cards"... will it make my mac suseptible to viruses overall due to having a windows component? also will it make my mac slower as wellIf you are only going to use one or two window only programs then I wouldn't waste the space. Try WinonX it allows you to install exe. Files on Mac without installing windows.

I ahve a late 2008 Mac Book Pro and would like to upgrade the memory to 8g. I can only find 2 options Crucial and Ramjet. There is a $40 difference in the cost. Does anyone know if one is better than the other?
I have gotten my RAM from either Crucial or Macsales. They are both excellent.

I would disagree to the extent that it is dependent upon the network. If the network is reliable then airplay won't be an issue.
I used to think the same thing, but even with an all wired network I run into contant problems with mirroring and AirPlay. Audio drops out, or randomly starts to become garbled. Video just freezes. I can run loaded ping tests while it is happening and get 1.0 - 3.0 mil second response times the enitre time with no packet loss and AirPlay will still drop out or hang, lag. -

My mac book pro late 2008 has started jumping from outlook, hotmail to Yahoo. It moves before I can even put my cursor on an email to open it! within 6 seconds it is on yahoo. If I do manage to open an e-mail it is on Yahoo before I can read it. Help????
Brandon, there are words apple, yahoo, google maps, youtube wikipedia news and Popular on a grey strip at top of screen. I go to popular and click on hotmail. I have also gone to the top and put in hotmail at the https but it does the same thing.

I had to purchase a new Mac Book Pro. When I tried to download Adobe Flash Player, it wouldn't take any of my passwords. I had to change my Apple ID last week, but nothing worked. Can I reset my Adobe Flash Player password and if so, how do I do that? Thanks

Point of view on running Mountain Lion on a late 2011 Mac Book Pro?
I bought my MacBook Pro a couple of days before the current genneration came out in June of 2012. I was told that Mountain Lion would run well even on the older genneration and I was convinced by the 'genius' that it would be well worth it to buy the old one since I could get the old gen 15 inch for the price of the new gen 13 inch. I love mac, and my macbook but ive been hearing some stuff about how its Mountain Lion just doesnt run smoothly with the old gen hardware....im starting to agree with them. I havent got to use a new gen with mountain lion but i assume the freeze ups and the delays dont happen as much. Just looking for some thoughts from other people who have experienced this issue.....
biggest issue chat has just messed up texting with my iphone i had to delete it, notifying me randomly form days ago and other times not notifiying me at allI have a late model 2011 mac and I ran mountain lion on it for a few months. It ran ok but I ended up reinstalling lion on it about a week ago just because I found lion ran better. I don't think it has anything to with the "slightly" older hardware. I think mountain lion is just a resource pig. One thing was very noticeable and that was the shut down time. With lion my mac shuts down in a second or 2. with mountain lion it took 5-10+ seconds and that was with a clean install of mountain lion.
If you don't need any of the newer feature, whatever they are, then just stay with lion. I read a article this morning that apple is coming out with 10.9 in a couple of months. So I'll try that, in a separate partition this time, when it comes out and see how I like it. -

thank you very muchOne reason I favor OWC is that if you call them up and tell them that their RAM is malfunctioning, replacements are sent out that day, not when they get the bad RAM from you.There are a couple of forum colleagues who use Corsair RAM with no problems. Macs seem to be very selective about RAM and some brands simply do not work properly in Macs. OWC and Crucial have good track records, hence the recommendations.
I often grin when someone complains about an inexpensive or bargain part does not perform well in a Mac. When one pays a premium price for a computer, I would think that quality should come before price for any add-ons or modifications. It is like purchasing a Ferrari and then using regular gas.
If your replacement Corsair RAM is working, you should be just fine. One bad experience should not condemn a manufacturer or vendor.

I have been trying to use the new 'Handoff'' feature without any success. I can enable handoff on my iPhone and iPad but I can't find anyway to enable the option on my Mac Book.
Has anyone else been having this problem and has anyone managed to resolve the issue?

Thanks for the reply. That's disturbing to hear. My computer is nearly ALWAYS at this high temperature (or at least this is the temperature that is reported). For example, I just paused a netflix streaming video to check my mail. The fans are going at 5,500 RPM. And the temperature is listed at 176º F. But now, after only a minute, the CPU is down to 140º F (60º C) and the fans are at 2,000 RPM.
Is that not normal behavior?
The temperature does not get that high doing any other activities (apart from maybe a flash video game).
I should probably mention that it's a 2.4 GHz Intel Core i7 with 8 GB 1333 MHz DDR3 RAM.
Anything I should do to test it? I'm thinking of taking it into the Apple Store for a monitor issue. -

Has nothing really to do with your computer, but has everything to do with your bandwith connection speed. Personally I can't tell the difference on my late 2013 macbook pro retina, between HD and SD when renting movies in itunes the screen is too small, but thats a YMMV thing.
