I have a Lexmark Prevail Pro 705 printer connected to my network wirelessly. I can no longer scan from it using Image Capture. I can print to it. I can scan from it using a Windows machine. Most updated firmware. Driver v 11.0 Any ideas?
I have a Lexmark Prevail Pro 705. Latest (as of july 30, 2012) firmware. Mac driver v 11.0
I can no longer communicate wirelessly with the scan feature of the printer. I can print no problem using a wireless connection. Using a window's machine I can scan wirelessly from the printer. It seems that my iMac (OSX 10.8, 3.06 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo, 24inch early 2009) is not connecting to it. I can put a USB cord into the computer and scan.
Any ideas? This came up starting 2 weeks ago. I had hoped the operating system upgrade would solve it. It has not. I see nothing on the Lexmark boards about this. Since the printer works fine in both print an scan mode using a windows machine and can print fine from a Mac but not scan I don't have any ideas but I suspect it is the Mac.

The Lexmark Pro705 is not compatible with AirPrint but you can still print from your iPad using our LexPrint app. You would also need to install our LexPrint Listener to a host computer (Windows or Mac) to serve as a bridge for your printer and iPad.

If not then do Lexmark have their own app in your country's store that supports that model ? If they don't then there are a number of third-party printer apps such as Print n Share and PrintCentral Pro which might work with it. -
We use one windows machine and two mbp's (post 2012) at home. We have a modem *** router from a non apple vendor that airport utility finds and connects with absolute ease. But doesn't stay connected. The signal drops often, what can I do?
No, not all network clients -- only the two mac portables and they run together very rarely. The windows machine is hardwired to the modem router combo, and that's always sailing smooth. The mbp that is most used is perhaps 20 feet max from the router - and in another room. But it also happens when I take in into the same room as the router. On occassion, I have noticed while using network diagnostics, that one digit in the IP number sometimes appears to go awry. I then try to set up manually - and it works for a bit but is hugely erratic.
I rigged a hand me down airport express and set up a separate network for the two macs and it ran beautifully for some weeks, but that little piece is now dead and none of the retailers in my suburb seem to have one in stock. I don't want to be forced to buy an airport extreme and here in India, there's no trustworthy online ordering option.
The man from the ISP's been here several times and I don;t think it is a modem/dsl issue because the smartphone connects and the macbook drops when both are the same distance from the router? I am truly foxed and intensely irritated! :-( -
iTunes has tried to update itself and runs into an error and tells me to manually install. When I d/l and run the iTunesSetup.exe file I always encounter the following error message...
"A network error occured while attempting to read from the file C;|Windows|Installer|iTunes.msi" and iTunes does not update to iTunes 10.4.1.

can any one tell me if it is possible for me to buy a publish certificate for Flash CS 5.5 for windows so that i can publish some games for the iPhone in retina display supported? also the other question is that, i have heard that apple will not allow ipa files published using a windows machine such as Flash cs 5.5 even if i buy the flash publish certificates. Is it true that once i buy a developers lisence all the features such as publishing for app store and the publish certificate for Flash CS 5.5 will be at my disposal? or do i have to purchase them again seperately and what will be the total cost for all this?
And even if i can publish it to the app store, since I am from the country Maldives, can any one guide me to how I can register and receive the payments for the profits I earn from my apps? I use windows 7.

I have my HP OfficeJet Pro 8500 A connected to my Mac Book Pro on a Wireless network. It works and
I have my Hp Officejet Pro 8500 A connected to my MAc Book Pro which is running Lion OS on a wireless network. It works just fine and prints and everything. The problem is a "HP Utility" window that pops up on my screen and says it is "connecting to device" and lists my printer. It just runs and runs and the entire thing is gray - meaning I can't close it, cancel it, or anything. When you try to click on it, the arrow becomes the color wheel of death. It is driving me crazy. I have gone through settings, I have downloaded the latest drivers, I have looked in utilities, I have opened the printer folder and can't find where this thing is coming from or how to turn it off. Please help. And yes I have turned offf the computer and rebooted.
If you are using Snow Leopard or Lion and have HP software for pre-Snow Leopard (either from a CD not marked as compatible with 10.6 or you recently upgraded to Snow Leopard or Lion and had the HP software on your Mac before you upgraded - even if you did a standard uninstall of the old software or installed new software over the top of it) you must uninstall the software using the 'scrubber' option:
Go to Applications/Hewlett Packard/ click on HP Uninstaller
Click on Continue
Highlight your device on the left pane
Press and hold Control + Alt + Cmd keys on the keyboard simultaneously while you click on Uninstall <<<< This IS the Scrubber Option, there is no button labeled "Scrubber"
There will be a pop up that asks if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL hp software. (At this point, if you continue, any HP printers you have installed will need to be reinstalled)
Click Continue and let it finish
Restart your Mac

Now reset the printing system:
- Sys Prefs, Print & Fax
- Right (control) click in the rectangle listing your printers and select Reset Printing System.
WARNING - this will delete ALL of your printers!
- Select the plus sign to re-add it. Look for the printer, select it and wait until the "Add" button becomes available. Click it.
If you want more features, you can download and install the Full Featured software from the "Support & Drivers" button at the top of this page, otherwise, basic printing and scanning will work without it.

nas on airport extreme not recognized by time machine. same nas was previously used as time machine backup on different airport extreme. are there any configuration files that i can delete to fix this problem ?
Time Machine has been working just fine, but in the last week or two it has given up the ghost. I reset the connections to the drive, and it will basically save a few bytes of data and then hang.
Although Apple originally announced, prior to the release of the first 802.11n AirPort Extreme Base Stations (AEBSn), that it would support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks, they removed that option before they did finally release the base station for sale.
Since then, Apple has posted (as you have noted) that they DO NOT support Time Machine backups to AirPort Disks. As far as I know, they have not changed from that position and those who do these backups find that they become corrupted over time. Sorry, but it sounds like you just confirmed that for yourself.

No. Again, this feature has never been supported by Apple for every generation of AEBSn released.
2) Are there any changes I can make to get this working again?
If your data backups are critical to you, then you will want to use a different solution for your Time Machine backup destination drive strategy. I would suggest that you connect your WD My Book directly to your Mac in the mean time.
Your other options would be to either use a Time Capsule (which interestingly does support TM backups to AirPort Disks) or a non-Apple solution like the Drobo FS or HP MediaSmart server. -

I have a new macbook pro and want to purchase adobe photoshop. How can I do that with apple retina display compatibility? Does anyone use photoshop on your mac?
Adobe is moving from the purchase of a license for their software to the renting of it. I'm old school so I'd prefer a perpetual license. But you already have a subscription to Illustrator so I guess it'd be advisable to look into whether expanding the subscription to include other software will save you some money. Also I remember something about Adobe adding features to its Cloud version which aren't also added to the licensed version and a different way of handling updates and upgrades. Indeed, Adobe states that CS 6 has reached the end of the road. So if you're going to stay with Adobe, you may very well be stuck.
I'd suggest spending some time in the Adobe Communities. You'll likely find people complaining about choices they've made that you'll have to make too. Let them be the beta testers. -
Update to latest iOS. Keep getting pop up message to "Connect to iTunes to use Push Notifications". This message will not go away. Any ideas on how to fix?

I have a Mac book pro on vesion 10.6.8 and want to access icloud as it works great on my iphone 4. Not sure best way to upgrade as some of the review of Lion on the appstore are awful. Any advice as I also have MIcrosoft word etc and don't want to have to purchase these again.

You can also do this:
Launch the programs you know and love on your Snow Leopard Mac.
Utilities --> Activity Monitor
Under the "Kind" tab it will identify the programs running PowerPC, Intel and Intel 64.
No PowerPC apps will run under Lion.
Don't worry about Apple's system stuff like Mail, iCal, Safari.
Don't worry about the system processes, like fontd and launchd, those will be replaced if you go to Lion.
Just look for the programs that you need.
