There are some features of QT that I like, e.g. precise frame selection and save as .png file-help. Am I missing some Apple software? I thought QT for Mountain Lion could convert the .vob files - is there some setting that I have missed?
Any suggestions that preserves a simple workflow much appreciated.

I found that the screen won't wake up if only the thunderbolt connection is plugged. Is this normal ?I just got my ATD and late 2011 MBP up and running. I've not tried running without the power adapter from the ATD plugged in, but I just tried and didn't have any problems with the display not waking. You may want to take your query to the ATD forum - https://discussions.apple.com/community/peripherals/thunderbolt_display - perhaps someone there has experienced a similar issue.

It's running a i7 2ghz with 8gb ram And OS X 10.8.4
I have had the Air around 11 months and the last week is the first time it has ever frozen , now it will do it after about 15 min use
It seems a little warmer than usual and it will freeze no matter what is running , or just idle .
And just to add , no google chrome installedThe next time you have the problem, note the exact time: hour, minute, second.
If you have more than one user account, these instructions must be carried out as an administrator.
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Scroll back in the log to the time you noted above. Select any messages timestamped from then until the end of the episode, or until they start to repeat. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).

I have a MacBook Air 13 , mid 2009 & am trying to get it to show power point on a projector, I have the correct plug. Do I have to push some keys to fire up the projector ? Kevin
The short answer is no. You will, however need to fire up the projector manually, and then change the input for the projector (if it hasn't already) to that of the computer. Once the projector is fired up and displaying an image of the screen of your computer, simply start the powerpoint as you normally would, since the projector will mirror your screen. If you will be talking for long periods of time without pressing any keys, or advancing the presentation, you might want to change the energy saver preferences to stop the computer from going to sleep as fast as it would. Does all this help?

Mac Book Pro just got it, all was well for 2 weeks now Finder window does not fill whole screen, there is an 1 1/2" space of black on the right side and the Finder window had a 1" section that flipped like a rolling tv now it is a white bar! Help!

Macbook air July 2012 airplay with video stutters and stalls
I have Mountain Lion installed on my base model 13" Macbook air 2012 and airplay is stuttering and stalling when playing video in VLC and mplayerx. I've got a belkin n600db router and the 3rd gen apple TV (latest software). Is anyone else seeing similar issues?
I've got the same problem. Late 2011 17" MacBook Pro mirroring to 2nd generation AppleTV (720p) over AirPort Extreme supporting 802.11n.
I agree with your Apple "hope" and the sooner the better. AirPlay mirroring was the single largest motivator in getting Mountain Lion. -
The asking of questions and responding to answers on the support pages is a bit more complicated than I think it should be. The first question I ever asked was answered by a community member, but when I go to ask other questions, that first question is still there. Somehow I bypass that at times and get another question in, as right now. But why does that first question remain? I thought I said in the answers that my question had been answered, and replied to the person who answered it with my thanks.

i got a new laptop because my old one won't turn on anymore .i can only sync my account to 5 computers so how do i unsync the account from my old laptop if i can't use my old laptop ?and i have over 12000 songs that i now have to individually drag and drop onto my computer that doesn't hold that much space because none of my songs will play because there is no file on computer to back it up .all of my songs are saved in the cloud y isn't that enough to make my songs play ?so now i have a list of songs that won't play on my itunes that won't let me use my account because it's the 6th computer on my account .it's kindda pointless .

There's a couple of ways to get through to the authorisation controls in the 11.0.x versions.
The control is still in the Store menu, but first (if you're using iTunes versions 11.0.x) you might need to bring up the menu bar to see the Store menu.
If you're using 11.0.x, click on the wee boxy icon up in the top-left corner of your iTunes to see the "Show Menu Bar" control, as per the following screenshot:
Then you'll find the control in the Store menu:
Alternatively, if you don't want to bring up the menu bar, it's still possible to get into the authorise controls via nested menus accessible from the wee boxy icon. Here's a screenshot of where to find them: -

As mentioned, you don't indicate the circumstances that would warrant consideration of multiple partitions. Moreover, you also don't indoicate the size of the SSD in question.
Like Fred said, ordinarily you leave it alone as one. Some people like to keep data and the OS/apps separate, but it is for specific reasons. -

Every time I try to Reinstall OSX or try to run any diagnostics. It wont stay on long enough to finish anything. Some times it wont come on when you press the power key. I just does the Apple chime and then it could be 5 seconds or 2 mins but it always powers off.
I called Apple because the SSD was recalled for that year and the symptoms of a failing hard drive is random rebooting or powering off. So apple said they would fix it for free.
I am not near an apple store so I took it to an Apple licensed Technician to get the new SSD. I got a call a few days later saying that the SSD was fine but I need a new Logic Board. He said it was the most expensive part of the laptop and that sounded very convenient for him that I need the most expensive part, about $478.00.
I would like to know the symptoms of a Failing Logic Board and the SSD
I can never get a straight answer from reading Apples forums.
This laptop was 1300.00 new and I had to buy it from my Ex again for 200.00 when she couldn't fix it. So im tired of putting money in a laptop that cant even run games or hold my entire iTunes Library lol.
If anyone has had this same problem let me know.

Dear Apple. I have just installed Windows 7 64-bit full version Home Premium using Bootcamp and cannot get access to the internet. I installed on a Macbook Air Mid 2012 with Mountain Lion. Are there some drivers that are missing from the Windows 7 bootcamp install download from Apple
It is a Total Misconception that the Support files are installed when you are installing Windows, even if the USB drive that holds them is inserted in the system when doing the Windows install.
You must always Run the Setup.exe files from the support files or run the drivers individually once Windows has finished installing and booted to the desktop.
Also you really need to run the Boot Camp Control Panel Applet and check for updates as not all the newest drivers for full function of all the hardware is included with the original support download. That download is basically a generic version to get the system working and without doing the updates not everything will work properly. -

If you don't already have a current backup, back up all data, then reinstall the OS.* You don't need to erase the startup volume, and you won't need the backup unless something goes wrong. If the system was upgraded from an older version of OS X, you may need the Apple ID and password you used.
If you use FileVault 2, then before running the Installer you must launch Disk Utility and select the icon of the FileVault boot volume ("Macintosh HD," unless you gave it a different name.) It will be nested below another icon with the same name. Click the Unlock button in the toolbar and enter your login password when prompted. Then quit Disk Utility to be returned to the main screen.
There are ways to back up a computer that isn't fully functional. Ask if you need guidance.
If you installed the Java runtime distributed by Apple and still need it, you'll have to reinstall it. The same goes for Xcode.
