I have a problem with my Mac OS X Lion when using Remote Desk Connection or VPN with Wifi.
I know it's the wifi configuration problem since it all works if I connect to the internet with a cable.
Need some more details; are you getting any error messages? If you go to System Preferences > Networks what does it say under Airport?

I have a IPhone 5 and Iphone 5s, each phone is activited with a different service provider. Both are set up with the same account ID and running IOS 8.0.2. When the phones are connected to the same Wifi at home, both phones will ring when someone call in to one of the phone. Hence you do not know exactly which line the caller called. If you answered using the wrong phone, then anyone calling the other number will not get through. Anyway to solve this problem?

Thanks for the question. It sounds like your devices are set up to use continuity together. Specifically, it sounds like you are signed into the same Apple ID in FaceTime, and have iPhone Cellular Calls enabled. To resolve your issue, simply disable this setting:

I have iphone 3gs ios 6.1.3 .. I have a problem I can not look contact profile and save it. I already sync with outlook and windows books also can not be seen. I tried to add a contact on the contact menu, but the result like restart ... (but not restart the device, not just stored). I am confused about this issue ... please help ..

I loaded microsoft office on my mac airbook. I have no problem accessing it from my user. When the other log on user is clicked the software icons are not avauilable. How do I have any user on my airbook have access ? . i.e. my wife

I was able to copy down the Word, Excel and PowerPoint icons and access "however" when I exit out of the guest user it deletes them from the tool tray at the bottom.... I need them to stay there not have to copy them down..

Sorry, I was not given the option of posting to a Maverics community. I have 4 accounts on my Mac Pro running Mavericks. From one account I can scan with my Epson NX420, but the other three accounts do not see the scanner. Can print from all accounts.

How to set up my elderly parent with Mac so that I can use remote access to help her?
I want to set my elderly mother up with a new Mac mini so that I can use remote access to show her how use email, browse the internet, share photos. (She lives in KY, I live in OR)
She has had an iPhone and an iPad for about 6 months and she can barely use them without becoming frustrated. I want to be able to see her screen with her and show her how to do things.
My plan is to set her up with a Mac mini and I'll use my MacBookAir to remote into her system. I'm buying the mini to configure and then I'll mail it to her.
My question is whether to try to use Back to My Mac or Teamviewer for remote access
I have broadband with comcast and she has broadband with Access Cable. Each have their company modem/routers--neither of us have Airport Express.
I have my own iCloud account and she has her own. If I use Back to My Mac, it seems that I would need to set up a separate account on my Mac that would sync to her iCloud account.
Teamviewer seems easier because I don't have to use a separate account. Any advice? Anything that I'm not thinking about?As Linc says, you can establish a Screen Sharing session via iMessage and Facetime. The advantage of these 2 approaches is that once your Mom gets used to using them, she will be more comfortable using them to communicate with you. I've talked to my Mom via iChat (aka iMessage) more since she learned to use them, then in all the years before that (including when I was a child ). And just being able to see your Mom via Facetime can be useful when you want to gage how she is doing.
However, if you are any distance from your Mom, they you want backup methods incase something goes wrong.
So beside iMessage/Facetime, the next best would be Back-to-My-Mac via iCloud, however, you will want to establish her Mac as using your account so that you have the right to take control remotely.
An alternative that does not mix up your iCloud acounts would be to use TeamViewer.com (which has an unattended mode so you can do off-hour maintenance when your Mom is not around; or check up on her to find out if she is dating - Turns out if I had been paying attention, I would not have been blind-sided by my Mom getting Married again last Summer - she is in her 80's! ).
LogMeIn.com, as dwb says, can be used the same was as TeamViewer.com
Both LogMeIn.com and TeamViewer.com are very good at making it easy to get through the home router and if you are having any problems connecting using other Methods, TeamViewer.com or LogMeIn.com will most likely not have any issues.
Back-to-My-Mac allows screen sharing and file sharing so you can transfer files as well as control the screen.
Screen Sharing via Messages allows cooperative file transfer. That is to say, you can try pushing a file to your Mom, but she has to accept each transfer.
TeamViewer.com has an unattended file transfer mode.
LogMeIn.com requires the paid version to transfer files. However, there are other ways to transfer files, such as downloading them from the original source on your Mom's system while using screen sharing, using Dropbox (or similar), emailing them, etc...
Of course if you are really network savvy, you can roll your own via ssh tunnels, port forwarding routers, getting dynamic DNS names, transferring files via scp, or tunneling AFP file sharing, tunneling your screen sharing sessions. Lots of fun and excitement playing with terminal commands -

My apple extreme wireless network is working fine with two Macs but ios devices (iPhone & iPad) will not connect. I can see the network and it's telling me I'm connected but Safari says I'm not connected to the internet. Everything was working until the ISP went down. Any suggestions?
Thank you, I've tried the support tips (resetting the network, checking security settings, etc.) and rebooting the network devices several times to no avail. I've actually been working on this for several days (when I can afford to have the network down).

The term "server", while technically correct, is misleading. A print server takes the low-level protocol spoken by a printer and serves it over a higher-level protocol. For example, parallel printer port (a.k.a. Centronics or IEEE 1284) and serve it over USB. Or parallel or USB and serve it over Ethernet with a variety of printing protocols (lpr/lpd protocol, JetDirect protocol, port 9100 protocol, the names are confusing).
In reality, a print server looks nothing like what we usually associate with "server" (which is typically a biggish computer). Instead they usually look like adapter plugs or even adapter cables, or like a little network hub (just with printer connectors instead of network connectors).
Here are a few examples (I'll use Amazon as a guide book, without implying that I endorse them). Let's start with USB to parallel; it seems they tend to look like adapter cables. Here is one that takes a USB plug (male) and creates a female port that you can plug your regular old printer cable in: http://www.amazon.com/Cables-To-Go-16899-IEEE-1284/dp/B000UX21PY/ref=sr_1_1?ie=U TF8&qid=1333640548&sr=8-1

Then there are (really cheap) Ethernet to printer adapters. Both of those you put next to the printer, use your existing parallel printer cable, and connect them to the network. Don't get scared by the astronomical price of the HP; it's commonly available used.
There are even some wireless models around. In theory, you might be able to use a parallel-to-USB adapter cable and then plug the USB cable into your trusty Apple Airport (as a good Apple fanboy or fangirl you've bought an Airport, right?), but I don't know whether that will work. With the HP JetDirect box I'm quite certain that it will work (but it's old-fashioned, doesn't come in white, doesn't do wireless, and is not the slightest bit hip or cool). -

No. You can install Lion on all systems you own from a single purchase. Either copy the installer before you run it on the first system and transfer it to the other system, or purchase and download it on one system, then log into the App Store on the second system go to the Purchased tab and you'll be able to download the installer again without charge.
