I Have A Solution To The "Green Light Stays On"

One day I unplugged my shuffle from the USB port and the green light would just stay on and the shuffle would not play. Here's how I fixed it.
Leave the shuffle on without recharging it until the green light goes out. If you press the buttons the green light should flash like normal or flash with a small red light underneath it. Here's the important part, make sure the shuffle is always turned OFF before plugging it in to recharge and the problem should not reoccur. If you accidently leave it on when charging, and the problem happens again, just do the above steps. Someone let me know if this works for them also. Thanks.

You have to eject your iPod manually (either in iTunes or on Windows, clicking Safely Remove Hardware in your system tray) if you have it set to disk mode.

I recently transferred my internet service to another state.I have not yet moved my imac, just my pc laptop. I cannot get my airport extreme wireless router to work. The green light stays lit when everything is connected but I can't connect to the internet. Any suggestions?

I would recommend that you do the following as a minimum:
Power-down the modem, AirPort base station, and computer(s).
Power-up the modem; wait at least 10-15 minutes to allow it adequate time to initialize.
Power-up the AirPort base station; wait at least 5-10 minutes. Note: The AirPort's status light may continue to flash amber after it has intialized. That is because, there may be some additional configuration items necessary, like setting up wireless security, before the overall setup is completed to get a green status.
    Power-up your computer(s).
If the above steps do not solve the problem, start over with step 1 above, but then perform the next steps between steps 1 & 2. above.
Disconnect the AirPort base station from the Internet broadband modem.
While all of the devices are powered-down, perform a "factory default" reset on the base station. This will get it back to its "out-of-the-box" configuration and make setting it up much easier, especially if you use the "Assist me" process within the AirPort Utility. (ref: Resetting an AirPort Base Station or Time Capsule)
After the base station resets, go ahead and power it back down.
Reconnect the AirPort base station to the Internet broadband modem. For the Extreme and Time Capsule, be sure to connect the cable to the base station's WAN (circle-of-dots) port.
Continue with step 2 in the first set of steps.
In this basic configuration, the AirPort base station will broadcast an unsecured wireless network with a Network Name (SSID) of Apple Network NNNNNN. Network clients, connected to the base station either by wire or wireless, should now be able to access the Internet through the ISP's modem. Once Internet connectivity has been verified, you can use the AirPort Utility to configure the base station for wireless security and any other desired options. Please post back your results.

  • Why does the green light stay on at the top of my screen where pictures are taken?

MacBook Pro, OSX 10.9.2  - at the top of the frame of the screen a green light stays on - I think this is the camera.  Is there a way to shut if off?

This procedure may show which program is using the camera. It makes no changes, and therefore will not, in itself, solve your problem. It will only work while the green LED is on. The instructions must be carried out as an administrator. If you have only one user account, you are the administrator.
Please triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    sudo lsof -Fc +D /L*/Cor*/*/*/AppleCamera.plugin | sed '2!d;s/^.//' | pbcopy
Copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C.
Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window by pressing the key combination command-V. I've tested these instructions only with the Safari web browser. If you use another browser, you may have to press the return key after pasting. You'll be prompted for your login password. Nothing will be displayed when you type it. Type carefully and then press return. If you don’t have a login password, you’ll need to set one before you can run the command. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. Confirm. You don't need to post the warning.
If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator. Log in as one and start over.
Wait for a new line ending in a dollar sign ($) to appear below what you entered.
The output of the command will be automatically copied to the Clipboard. If the command produced no output, the Clipboard will be empty. Paste into a reply to this message.
The Terminal window doesn't show the output. Please don't copy anything from there.

  • Airport extreme will only get or send e-mail messages, or allow Safari to function for about 5 minutes.  After that it doesn't respond even though the green light is on and diagnostics says there is nothing wrong. Have to unplug again to get a response.

For the past 2 days Airport Extreme works for about 5 minutes and then will not receive or send e-mail messages, or let Safari work.  The only way I can send or receive is to unplug Airport Extreme for a few seconds, reconnect and then work frantically for 5 minutes before it does the same thing.  The green light stays on and the diagnostics tells me nothing is wrong even though no mail is moving.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks,
    Greg

  • Why has my built-in camera stopped working? The green light is on, but no picture in photo booth or Skype.

I have rebooted, but to no avail. The green light stayed on right through the reboot.

Glad all is sorted. It's very normal for your Mac to get quite warm, especially when used intensly for a long period of time. If the room temperature is very warm, it's well worth switching off or putting it to sleep whenever you can.
Believe it or not, it gets very warm here in the UK once in a blue moon & when it does, I try to keep the room temperature as cool as I can.
    Best wishes

  • Green light stays on

I bought an ipod shuffle for my wife and it was working just fine at first. But now the green light stays on and nothing happens. Help!!

I'm in the same boat, I think the ipod is the best thing since sliced bread. I don't want to go back to carrying around a cd player, and CD's. Where are the BIG wigs while were having these problems. Since this Discussion is on the Apple Web page I would think, someone from the apple camp would be reading their consumer reports. I'm really unhappy, I'm not trying to pay for tech support, and I can't figure out what the problem is on my own. I'm actually e-mailing a guy back and forth, he's giving suggestions on what I can do. It seems as if every problem stems from apple downloads. Apple should send me another ipod. I have a mind to contact my local newspaper, just to see if they can get some answers.

  • Shuffle 2nd generation green light stays on

My ipod shuffle was kinda working (songs would skip along as they played). Now, when turning it on, the green light stays on. I can sync it with itunes and transfer songs like normal, but I cannot play them.

    "Hi,
I like you had many problems getting my ipod shuffle to work properly. I finally got a very helpful apple tech guy to help me, and now it works. Here's what we did (these are instructions for windows xp machines):
    1. Go to apple.com/ipod/download, and download the latest software updater 2005 - 11 - 25.
    2. Once downloaded, install the software updater.
    3. Restart machine, with the ipod inserted in the USB port, power setting to OFF position.
    4. Once cpu is restarted, go to Start -->ipod-->ipod software updater.
    5. Click on "Restore" when the ipod updater window invites you to.
    6. Once finished, disconnect Ipod, and turn the power switch to one of the "on" positions (it doesn't matter which).
    7. Green light should come on and turn off. Turn off power switch a second time and wait 10 seconds.
    8. Insert ipod back into USB port; it should automatically start itunes, which should then offer to setup your ipod.
    9. It will automatically begin downloading all songs from your itunes library onto the ipod. WHen complete, you can disconnect ipod, and hopefully the thing will work.
NB: unlike other mp3 players, you MUST use itunes to download your music onto the ipod. you cannot click and drag music using windows.
Hope this helps, and shame on apple for making it so complicated." Try it, worked for me just a few minutes ago, and I had the SAME EXACT problem, seriously.

  • Droid X won't charge, has green light staying on.

My Droid X just started today not charging and the green light stays on when it is plugged into the wall, PS3 or laptop.  How can I get it to charge and stay on?

  • TS3048 My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I've put new batteries in the mouse and the green light is blinking but it just won't connect!!! I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc!!! Pls help

My keyboard will connect wirelessly but my mouse will not. I have tried many times, put new batteries in etc. The Bluetooth appears to be on (as the wireless keyboard is working). I don't have a 'wired' mouse so I can't get into preferences etc. Is the mouse dead perhaps? The green light is flickering so it should be ok???
    Thank you for your help
    Sully (frustrated Irishman)

From what you say I would suggest the batteries are not connecting properly.
First, thoroughly clean all contacts, both inside the mouse and the contact points of the batteries.  Use an alcohol based cleaner (whisky will do, hic!)  dampen (not wet) cotton buds for cleaning.
Then check to see if they fit firmly.   If you can shake your mouse and hear things are loose, that will be the batteries.   Check the make.   Apple and Duracell, in that order, are the best batteries.   Where slight undersizing has been reported they are with other than the foregoing.
You can resolve the size problem with appropriate packing but that will always be a makeshift solution.  After, reassemble, turn on the mouse and with luck, away you go.
Hopefully this will solve your problem but in any case let us know how you get on.

  • My IMac has stopped seeing the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes on saying it is looking to pair with the IMac but without success. I am left with the IMac switched on and I am unable to enter a password.

I have been using my IMac without a problem when I left it and went back to enter the password the IMac did not see the keyboard. I have changed the batteries and the green light comes up on the keyboard and then starts to flash indicating it is looking for the IMac but nothing happens. I have tried another set of new batteries with the same result. Is there any known problems in this area. The IMac is 5 months old.
    Thank you for any help

What operating system does your iMac have? (please always post your operating system to prevent confustion).
If it's pre-Lion you will have to set Mail up manually:
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Snow Leopard or Leopard
Entering iCloud email settings manually in Tiger

  • I have a Airport Extreme that is dropping the wireless signal alot (several times a day). The green light will go amber but the internet service (ethernet cable) will still be fine. The wireless icon on devices with go away.

I have a Airport Extreme that is dropping the wireless signal alot (several times a day) The green light will go amber, but the internet service is still ok if your using an ethernet cable directly plugged in. When the light goes amber all devices that is using wireless will lose there wireless icon. The only way to get the green light back is to unplug the Airport device and replug it back in. I tried the reset on the back but still no luck. What is the fix?

Let's see if I can get this straight.
You have an Airport Extreme base station that is set to "Create a wireless network" and you have the box checked for "allow this network to be extended"....
Then you have an Airport Express that is set to "Extend a wireless network" which you selected the name of your network in the box...
    Correct?
    See this Apple document:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4259?viewlocale=en_US&locale=en_US
The wireless unit on the right of the diagram can be either of the newer Apple base stations.
    Extreme, Express, Time Capsule

my wireless key board doesn't seem to communication with my computer even though bluetooth shows it is connected.  I have changed the batteries on the keyboard and when turn on the key board the green lights comes on shortly and disappears.  Can any one  help?

    Hey Annar99,
I found a few articles that might help with the issue you're encountering. These first two are if the Bluetooth keyboard you're using is the one that came with your iMac. The first is a general "how to" for setting up your Apple Wireless keyboard, while the second one is for troubleshooting if the advice in the first article isn't working:
Bluetooth: How to set up your Apple Wireless Keyboard
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1809
Troubleshooting wireless mouse and keyboard issues
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3048
If, on the other hand, you're using a third party keyboard, then I would take a look at the following article's troubleshooting section:
    Bluetooth Quick Assist

    Hope that helps,

  • I changed my internet box and now my airport extreme light flashes amber what I need to do to get the green light back

I changed my internet box and now my airport extreme light is flashing amber but I have internet connection, how can I get the green light back

When you change modem (the internet box I presume) you should reset the AE to factory and redo the setup completely.
However if you merely want to stop the amber flashing.. find the cause.
Open the airport utility and click on the AE..
It will give you a list of faults or problems... fix each one and the light will turn green.
The most likely fault is double NAT.
That means the AE should be in bridge mode.. but if you list the fault we can give you further help with what to do to fix it if you cannot understand the instructions.
Apple does give a procedure to remove the problem although it may not always be the best solution.
eg Ignore.. the light will turn green.
Lately Apple is saying to use double NAT and ignore the problem.. I do not thing that is a good idea at all.
To bridge however may be easier after a full factory reset than trying to do a change to the setup.
If you run Yosemite.. then I recommend the following.. please read AE for TC.. (Time Capsule is what I mainly use but the setup is identical).
    Factory reset universal
Power off the TC.. ie pull the power cord or power off at the wall.. wait 10sec.. hold in the reset button.. be gentle.. power on again still holding in reset.. and keep holding it in for another 10sec. You may need some help as it is hard to both hold in reset and apply power. It will show success by rapidly blinking the front led. Release the reset.. and wait a couple of min for the TC to reset and come back with factory settings. If the front LED doesn’t blink rapidly you missed it and simply try again. The reset is fairly fragile in these.. press it so you feel it just click and no more.. I have seen people bend the lever or even break it. I use a toothpick as tool.
N.B. None of your files on the hard disk of the TC are deleted.. this simply clears out the router settings of the TC.
    Setup the TC again.
ie Start from a factory reset. No files are lost on the hard disk doing this.
Then redo the setup from the computer with Yosemite.
    1. Use very short names.. NOT APPLE RECOMMENDED names. No spaces and pure alphanumerics.
eg TCgen5 and TCwifi for basestation and wireless respectively.
Even better if the issue is more wireless use TC24ghz and TC5ghz with fixed channels as this also seems to help stop the nonsense. But this can be tried in the second round.
    2. Use all passwords that also comply but can be a bit longer. ie 8-20 characters mixed case and numbers.. no non-alphanumerics.
    3. Ensure the TC always takes the same IP address.. you will need to do this on the main router using dhcp reservation.. or a bit more complex setup using static IP in the TC. But this is important.. having IP drift all over the place when Yosemite cannot remember its own name for 5 min after a reboot makes for poor networking. If the TC is main router it will not be an issue.
In your case bridge is most likely required.. and it is up to you how you deal with this one.. for now see if it is stable.. if it gives you issues come back and fix it.
    4. Set IPv6 to link-local only on the computer..
This is strange one in that apple should have fixed this up ages ago.. but we are finding the auto setting even on Yosemite is still giving the wrong setup.
